House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! About Mrs. Bruschetta

Tulle Time

April 15th, 2009 @ 10:47 am by Mrs. Bruschetta

My dress came in a few weeks ago, and I recently made an appointment to visit her — of course, try her on! — and to begin figuring out the whole veil thing.

~~~ Okay, Mr. Bruschetta, this is your cue to scoot! ~~~
I love the idea of a ceremony veil, and then a new look for the reception. This option would also mesh well with our plans to wander through Old City for creative candids between the ceremony and reception.
Long and dramatic is what I’ve got in mind for the ceremony. But, it seems it’s not as simple as that! I tried on two beautiful, cathedral-length veils. And, while I’ll admit I’m slightly favoring one over the other, I’m still torn. Which do you prefer?
A traditional style (which wouldn’t be embellished with crystals, like this one is)…
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 21 2
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 31 3
Or a cascade design?
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 41 4
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 51 5
My consultant only gave me one birdcage to try, and I was instantly hooked. It’s fresh yet retro, sweet yet sassy. The only thing I didn’t love? The price. ($250!)
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 61 6
Tulle Time :  wedding veil 71 7
As can-do as Crafty Miss Bruschetta tends to be, I’m not comfortable trusting my wedding veils to my well-intentioned (but not always perfectly-executed) DIY capabilities.
So, hive, I’m seeking your votes (yes/no to two different veils — and which ceremony look you prefer) and recommendations. Where did you purchase your wedding veil?
I’m a two veil bride! I’m doing a very simple cathedral length veil for the ceremony and I have a birdcage veil and detachable fascinator that I’ll wear for some of our pictures, and may just end up wearing the hair flower for the reception.
The cascade veil and the birdcage veil are the best. Go check out etsy.com. They have a TON of great birdcage veils.
I think I like the cascade style better on you for the ceremony! And if you plan on a birdcage, you could always search etsy or as the lovely Mrs. Seabreeze to make one for you!
Ditto the etsy.com. I got two beautiful veils for less than $50.
I really like the cascade veil best. It seems to “frame” you better (if that makes sense! :)
Hey Bruchetta! I like the cascade for a ceremony veil!
I understand being afraid of the birdcage price (ouch!!) and the DIY; it really isn’t that hard, I did it for a few friends. In fact, a tip for all Philly brides, if you really want the birdcage (which I absolutely love!!) Albert Zoll, down on Fabric Row carries the Russian nailing for it. They have black or white, so maybe you could even do a headpiece that incorporates the black for your BM’s… now that would be super sassy :-)
I love the cascading one! I’m tempted to seek out some birdcage options myself…
The first one will not take away from your dress where the second has the edging that might not go well. You can totally get a birdcage for way less than that as Miss Mascara said.
I got my birdcage at SomethingBold.com for less than $50. Never buy a veil in a bridal shop, the prices are so insanely inflated!
I love the first one. And get Mrs. Seabreeze to make you a birdcage- or look on Etsy. I love birdcage veils but I think you can do better than 250!!
I think the cascading looks great on you!
I also want a long veil, but it will look more like your first one. I am curvy, and the saleslady said I probably didn’t want to add any pounds by having a heavy veil all around me. So I will get a skinny veil and wear it down my back, not coming forward over my shoulders.
I like the cascade! And what about ordering a cheaper birdcage online for the reception? I just ordered a birdcage from somethingbold.com. I haven’t received the veil yet so I can’t vouch for the quality, but I can say that their customer service thus far has been outstanding. I needed an urgent order and contacted the owner before purchasing and she graciously accommodated me!
I love the first one! It’s so simple and elegant and won’t detract from your dress.
The birdcage is cute - but definitely not $250 cute. I’ve also seen great ones on Etsy and purchased my fascinator on there!
Good luck : )
I like the cascade! And I second finding an online vendor (or contacting Mrs. Sea Breeze!) about a birdcage veil for the reception. $250 is ridonkulous.
I like the first one for the ceremony and the birdcage for the reception. I would hit up other bees who used/made birdcages and or try Etsy. $250 is half the cost of my friggin DRESS :)
