Mrs. Perfume's Picture
Mrs. Perfume, DC Age and Occupation: 36, Consultant (and Part-Time Professor) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Consultant Engagement Date: May 13, 2008 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Venue: The Homestead, Hot Springs, Virginia About Me: I'd like to think that I'm a modern day Little Edie Beale. Only not as..."talented". More realistically, I'm a foodie who can't bake; a dancer and dilettente; an art collector with a penchant for the whimsical and subversive. I live in the city and adore the country, but not much in between. I like smart design, great craftmanship and good value. Most of all, I love the new vintage aesthetic: classic, sweet, delicate, bespoke. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go for a culinary arts degree rather than a PhD; but wouldn't trade Mr. P for the world.
About Mrs. Perfume

Warning: Gushing ahead!!

I love Weddingbee because everyone is just so nice. I get great advice and suggestions about everything from Fray Check for my ring pillow, to figuring out a better florist situation, to ideas on invitation designers (you readers are the reason for my invitations)!

Why I Love Weddingbee: The Thought Does Count : wedding favors Perfume

And every so often, I’ll get a PM or a comment from a reader who thought of me for some reason. Like, reader, mrspaetz sent me a link (on my post on photography no less) to a great pair of shoes, citing how the pale blue and deco design made her think of me. So. Nice!

Or when I got a message from local bee reader, GwenMarieDC, about the shooting at the Homestead, sending her thoughts and wishes… It’s just really touching that people care and remember, you know? I can’t tell you how great it is to hear readers’ enthusiastic compliments, your wonderful ideas, and inspirations.

Additionally, there is the same warmth and support from the WB bloggers. As you may or may not know, most of us bloggers don’t really know each other in “real life”. But the forum seems to cultivate a neat sort of cyber-friendship.

One of those friendships is mine with Miss Quiche. We have a lot in common (namely Paris–the city), and have naturally gravitated towards each other’s posts. Non-sexual crush you say? Perhaps. We’ve exchanged a couple emails but we’ve actually never met!

So, it was soooooooo lovely to get this surprise package in the mail from the lovely Chicago bloggerette:

Why I Love Weddingbee: The Thought Does Count : wedding favors Quiche

On her trip to Paris, she thought of me and my crazy obsession with Laduree and macarons. So she picked up these wonderful dragees. I WAS SO TOUCHED to get these in the mail! A cute little box on the outside read, “Just wanted to say, Bonjour!” and it came with a sweet little message, and of course the BEAUTIFUL dragees and Laduree box! (I’m keeping the box forever. The dragees are already gone!)

She even “stuffed” the box with printouts of macarons (she tried to get the macarons, but they have a short shelf life–bad for the plane ride). Just so incredibly sweet! THANK YOU, Mmlle. QUICHEY!!!

Again, it’s the thought, good will, kindness, and friendliness that makes Weddingbee so special in the sometimes (catty) cold wedding blogosphere.

Have you forged special relationships here on the ’bee?

That’s so sweet. I was really surprised coming on here as well. The only other forum experience I had had was on a skiing forum where they thought I was a dude and were incredibly mean and rude about my work. I left promptly. I found WeddingBee soon after and I am never going anywhere else. I LOVE it! The sweetest, nicest, most wonderful ladies are on here and best of all, they never get sick of me talking about my wedding!

This is why I love weddingbee, too!

In a world of anonymity, I love how everyone on this site strives to put their best foot forward, help out another bride-to-be, and just generally be a nice person and a friend.

I love weddingbee! :)

Mrs. Tiramisu and I have become email pen pals :-) We also seem to share the same taste in music so I have sent her a few mix CDs that I think she would like! And I’ve made connections with some very sweet local readers (one I found out who lives just a few blocks away from me and Mr. C!).

:) Miss P, I am just so glad that you liked it - that was the whole point of the little gift.

I agree - Weddingbee has been INCREDIBLE since I started stalking it last year, then blogging. The bees and readers alike are Fan-tas-tic. I’ve had sweet readers send me suggestions, tips & even offer to pick something up for me and mail it! I can’t get over the generosity of you all.

Perf, I totally have a crush on you, & you know, mon cher! ;)
