Way back in December, when I was going for my first round of dress hemming, I found a flower girl dress at the bridal shop that was handling my alterations.
The owner of the shop was trying to get rid of her inventory and had a lot of cute flower girl dresses on sale. She made each one herself. Since our flower girl was not with us, she let us take one of the dresses to try on our little elf, and bring it back at our leisure (nice, huh?).
My niece-to-be (i.e. Mr. P’s brother’s daughter) was barely four at the time. The dress was huge on her. It touched the floor and the arm holes were gigantic. Also, the shoulders were way too wide.

Despite all this, we weren’t worried because five months is a lifetime for a four year old in terms of growth.
We figured that we’d go ahead and get the dress a little big and my mother (once again) could do the adjustments. I really love the little flower appliques in cream and the ivory organza of the dress. I didn’t want to give it up!

So after a few months of waiting (on our part) and growing (on future niece’s part), we brought it with us this weekend when we visited for Easter brunch. My mother, along with Mr. P’s parents, were there, so it was great to get a little fashion show and alteration pinning done!!!

The length is now perfect and the only thing that needs to be done is a little taking in at the chest.

Ta da!!! This is how princesses work it…
What shoes would you pair with this ensemble? Tights or bobby socks?
