Custom Dresses? Hmmm…

April 19th, 2009 @ 5:55 pm by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

I got frustrated. Yes. Occasionally, I felt like I wanted to say, “screw it”, and choose a bridesmaid dress that I was just okay with, but didn’t love. I sifted through tons of “real weddings” on theknot.com, I looked all over Nordstrom, and anywhere else I thought might have a suitable dress. That’s right. At this point, I really just wanted something suitable.

Etsyweddings.blogspot.com threw me a bone. And her name was Sarah Seven.

The Tulip Dress

Her work is feminine and flattering. It’s romantic, yet stylish.

A fabulous long wedding dress.

Head to Sarah Seven’s blog, Beaus and Arrows, to see more of her work. And, stay tuned to see the next chapter of the bridesmaid dress saga…

Did you consider custom dresses?

SUPER cute. But as a bridesmaid 5 times over, I’m wondering… are your girls paying for their own dresses? If so… I hope they have trust funds. ;)

These are beautiful but honestly if I were a bridesmaid I would be sorta upset about $500 dresses lol

I have come across Sarah before, but after navigating back to her Etsy page I remember why I didn’t just jump out and buy something right away… $475 for the Tulip dress? OUCH!

I love those designs! I am thinking of having a custom BM dress created. I’m only having my sister play the role of MOH and BM and thought it would be a nice experience for us to design a dress together for her to wear on my special day.

These are beautiful…I love the light green one…very soft looking. I have posted in the boards some dresses I like and one of them is a Demetrios bridal…I love the soft look of the fabric…a very high contender for me! Good luck with your search.

Ugly and too much money even at 200.
These are hideous dresses.

I heart Sarah Seven and Elizabeth Dye! Though the dresses are above normal prices, you have to remember that they are custom designs (cut specific to every person’s body) and vintage or rare fabrics. Plus, factor in the cost of labor. These are not mass produced dresses like many other bridesmaid dresses or regular dresses sold for that matter. It’s definitely an investment, but it’s like owning a piece of couture fashion!

@Ann: I think the beauty of weddingbee is that each bee and reader has a unique style. So although these dresses may not be beautiful to you, that may mean they’re just not your style. I would lean away from putting others down on a site like weddingbee- we’re all pretty supportive of eachother:)
