About Mrs. Deviled Egg

I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for my guy in a suit or a tuxedo. I definitely enjoyed the eye candy on days when Mr. Deviled Egg wore a suit for work or when his groomsman duties put him in a tux in the two weddings he was in most recently.

Mr. DE looking fine as a groomsman in FSIL’s Wedding - October 2007

I’m pretty sure it won’t matter too much what style tuxedo Mr. DE ends up wearing on our wedding day—I’m sure I’ll think he looks good no matter what. But, we still needed to make a decision on his attire.

This weekend, Mr. DE and I visited a tuxedo rental shop to explore his options and figure out some things.

We’ve stopped in the same store months ago, but with the wedding countdown clock ticking away, we had to make some decisions, pronto! We also wanted to be sure everything was in order, since most of the groomsmen will be in town next weekend (probably their last trip in before the wedding) and they’ll need to get measured.

Mr. DE tried on a few different styles, but ultimately settled on a sharp black wool number with a two-button closure. He will wear a diamond white shirt, long tie, and white herringbone-pattern vest. Here he is trying on a sample jacket:

Even with his T-shirt underneath, I think he looks pretty darn good! He went with the two-button jacket over a four-button because more of the the vest shows. With the four-button tux, the vest barely peeked out of the top, and you could basically only see the tie. Personally, I thought the four-button looked too boxy, as well.

For the groomsmen, we selected the same two-button tux with sage herringbone vests and long ties that are similar in color to the bridesmaids’ dresses. The guys will also wear diamond white shirts, so they won’t clash with Mr. DE.

I’m sort of jealous that picking out a tux can be so easy. Not only can they pee standing up, but men can select and get fitted for their wedding day attire in about 20 minutes. Guys are lucky.

How was your experience with outfitting your groom? Was it an easy and quick decision, or did it take more time and effort than your anticipated?

He looks so excited in thie picture! :)
My FI went to the store with his dad when we were visiting and ended up finding linen-look suits for $85. Yes, that includes the pants and jacket with tax! He bought 8 (him, his dad, my dad and his 5 groomsmen). He called them all while at the store (JC Penny’s!), got their sizes and we sent them all to them and they fit!
I am still waiting for my dress to come in…

picking out tuxedos can be fun but make sure they go into the store to try them on when the tuxs come in. when my sister got married they sent one of the GM to pick them up and the only one that fit was the BM. then to and fuel to the fire the store wouldn’t correct anything because they weren’t tried on in the store for a final fitting. and we were dealing with this a full 5 days before the wedding, so they had time to fix it.
i ended up hand sewing all of the needed alterations.

Mr. DE looks great in that jacket! We picked out Mr. PP’s tux recently, and it was the most quick and painless process ever. So jealous.

Mr. DE looks very handsome! We just went tux browsing this past weekend, too. We were shocked at the prices we were quoted. $170 per tux! For a price like that, I’m thinking the groomsmen may want to purchase new suits.

The jacket looks like it fits a little tight on him. Keep in mind he’ll be wearing a dress shirt, and as it looks tight in the mid-chest area, the extra fabric from the dress shirt could cause it to be uncomfortable. Make sure he checks! It’s always advisable to be wearing a dress shirt when trying on suit jackets.

Our experience was a little less than an hour. Mostly because my FI and I were debating about the type of tux. He liked tails, I didn’t….but after some concessions on my part, I realized his choice was right. And when he put on the full outfit, he looked smashing! admittedly…tt probably would’ve moved along a bit faster if I wasn’t there :)

My FI asked me how long it took me to find my dress…about 4 months. Then he proudly showed me a stunning number from the Men’s Warehouse brochure. “Five minutes baby!”
<~~Jealous.
