Ring Pillow Shmring Pillow…

April 21st, 2009 @ 5:33 pm by Mrs. Cheese

We won’t have a ring bearer, lacking boys of the appropriate age in our circle of friends and family. We will, however, have the world’s best Junior Bridesmaid in my 12 year old niece, L. She’s too grown up to be a flower girl, and too young to be a bridesmaid, so we decided that Junior Bridesmaid was the perfect role.

But what responsibilities to give her? My stepsister, as flower girl, will be charged with scattering rose petals along the path, but since L isn’t a flower girl (an important distinction when you’re 12), what will she be doing? Why, carrying the rings! Yes, the real rings… but not on a pillow, no sirree. She’ll be sporting a finger posy. Behold.

Ring Pillow Shmring Pillow... : wedding ring bearer Cheese cheese

(Again, excuse the quality of the cell phone picture… we’re working on a deadline here.}

That little bit of happiness is the latest creation of my fabulous Mama and is both pretty and pretty darned functional. The rings, as you can see, are tied on with ribbons to avoid any last minute fumbles. The fluffy posy hides an elastic band that will fit over her finger, again avoiding any accidental fumbles while leaving her hands free for any of those necessities that you can’t think of until you’re stuck holding something that you can’t put down. Or to help keep a flower girl upright while navigating a trail down a hill.

Is anyone else foregoing a traditional ring pillow for something more unique?

We’re doing the bowl. Not sure that’s entirely unique though :)

aww how cute! That is so sassy I love love love….Our Godson will be 22 months for our wedding and the best thing we thought to get him down the aisle is a teddy bear. We will be tieing a bow aroung the teddy’s neck ( but it will be an illusion) our best man will actually have the wedding bands.

Now that’s is a very unique idea! Very cute too! How long will she be wearing the posy? I don’t think I’ve ever seen this used before either :) Even though the rings are tied on, I know I’d still be freaking out that “somehow” one could fall off.

Thats a great idea! Our dogs (puggle andchesapeake bay retriever) are our ring bearers. No crazy neck pillows or outfits, they’ll just be wearing bowties. I think we’ll give the REAL rings to the best man though =o) Im considering giving mine to my dad to have him hand over when its time.

That is so cute! My junior bridesmaid was the ring bearer as well and she carried ours in a little bowl from Paloma’s Nest.

That’s really sweet, and it sounds like you (or Mama) have thought through the possible things that could happen! I need to figure out what we’re doing with the rings…

Cute idea! I’m not sure if we are having flower people yet, so I’m not sure what our rings are doing either. :)

Super cute! We don’t have any little ones or junior ones in our wedding, so I am making a teeny tiny pillow for the best man’s pocket! :)

I love that idea! I may borrow that idea since I have 3 girls that want to be a part of my wedding. Its a nice way to add a little variety.

@Curlysue: Probably just for the ceremony.

@Miss Bruschetta: Yet another reason to practice putting on makeup, right? I don’t have it, actually, my mom does in New Mexico. Otherwise, I’d totally sport that sucker. It looks pretty cute.
