About Mrs. Shortcake

You have known each other from the first glance of acquaintance to this point of commitment.

1

2

At some point, you decided to marry. From that moment of yes, to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making commitments in an informal way.

3

All of those conversations that were held in a car, or over a meal, or during long walks – all those conversations that began with, “When we’re married,” and continued with “I will” and “you will” and “we will”

4

– all those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe” – and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart.

5

All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding.

6

The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “You know all those things that we’ve promised, and hoped, and dreamed – well, I meant it all, every word.”

7

3462668105_e390bb743e_o

Look at one another and remember this moment in time.

8

Before this moment you have been many things to one another – acquaintance, friend, companion, lover, dancing partner, even teacher, for you have learned much from one another these past few years.

9

10

Shortly you shall say a few words that will take you across a threshold of life, and things between you will never quite be the same.

11

12

For after today you shall say to the world –

13

“This is my husband.”

’”This is my wife.”

Thanks for sharing, Shortie! I gotta go with the majority and say my fave is the one where you’re smoochin’ it up as your sister’s focused on making it legal! ;-)

Your dress looks amazing in all these pictures!

@slicey19: I wore an extra full petticoat on top of a large 6-hoop hoop skirt. You can learn more about what would be appropriate on my blog post about under things: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/02/10/what-to-wear-under-there/

Love the reading and the pictures! You blogged about your icky flowers, being too skinny and awful pictures, but I’d say your blooms are beautiful, you look amazing and you have some great pictures there too! Congratulations:)

You’ve probably posted about this and I just can’t find it, but WHERE did you get your earrings? They’re exactly what I’m looking for.

And you are the most radiant bride. If I hadn’t seen your recaps detailing the things that went wrong and how much they upset you, I would NEVER guess that anything was amiss! Your joy at marrying your husband is the only thing that comes through.

@peachesandtulips: @Miss Gloss: the earrings were a wedding gift from mr shortcake. He bought them on ebay, but the seller is no longer in business. Sorry! :(
