House About Me: I’m a self-proclaimed grammar geek who loves singing (like, really belting it) in the car. My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! Being super competitive is in my nature, and talking excessively is in my genes. I’ve got a terrible sense of direction, but can always easily find my way into Mr. Bruschetta’s arms.

Chair Apparent

April 22nd, 2009 @ 5:45 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

Remember my photo tour of the F.U.E.L. House? All those open spaces, all that expansive marble and hardwood flooring?

Yeah, well, it’s beautiful, but not exactly conducive to hosting a wedding. No fleet of chairs is hidden anywhere within the F.U.E.L. House; no china, flatware, glassware are readily available for use when you rent the space.

Plates for our dinner and seats for our guests, though, are pretty high on our priority list. So… what’s the Bruschetta game plan? Working through our amazing caterer, we’ll be renting every single piece we need for our reception. Yup, enter the pink hippo.

I’ve seen some amazing pictures of luxe weddings and other events in the F.U.E.L. House.

But such lavishness is beyond the Bruschetta budget! Instead, we’ll be relying on the elegance of the classic-yet-modern interior, enhanced by a few key items…

Upstairs, we’re splurging for black resin chivari chairs. Bone bengaline cushions coordinate with the decor, and cream cotton tablecloths finish the look.

And downstairs, we’ll play up the warm hardwood floor, and add a citrusy accent with “sun copper” bengaline covers on the cocktail and high-top tables that will border the dance floor. (The proper tablecloths will go all the way to the floor — this was just a mock-up with a few borrowed items from the rental company.)

We’ll be finalizing our order with chef extraordinaire Laurent in July, so I’ll report back then with pictures of our table settings — and a few fun surprise pieces!

Are you renting tables, chairs, linens and/or tableware for your reception?

i looked at the FUEL house for my wedding. Kudos for you to be willing to do all that work! I’m too lazy to even begin to deal with it. It is a BEAUTIFUL space though and I’m sure your reception will be amazing.

I just love your venue! We are renting chivari chairs from our venue and using the ivory linens that come with the place. I am going to sew fabric squares to go on top of the tables though for some extra color.

We were going to rent couches and chairs for a lounge area - but, turns out we don’t have to! They have 2 couches and some chairs that we can use… so bonus, saved us some cash!

We’re renting overlay table linens and chair cushion covers (our venue comes with chivari chairs but they have a terrible olive/burgundy design that doesn’t match our theme). We even have to pay a small labor fee to cover every single chair cushion with a plain ivory linen, but I’d rather spend the extra $40 than see an olive/burgundy/brown seat cover!

I am not renting all that you mentioned. Which thank God I am not because I think I would have the hardest time decideding on what I want. But we are renting chair covers, sashes, chair cover overlays, and I think that is it for now. But who knows we might get close to the wedding and I may fall in something lol!

Yeah, I guess you’re going to need plates. I like the pink hippo! Is that the company that provided the items in your photos?

Ahh good luck to you Bruschetta, I’m so excited to hear about the choices you make, it’s going to be GORGEOUS!! For us, luckily the super fancy pin tucked linens came with our venue, but we did have to spring for the chivari chairs. We are also renting furniture to create a lounge area, which I’m super excited about.

@mary-alice-me: Yup, it is! Their trucks have a big, fat, pink hippo butts on the back of them — and I totally grin every time I see one driving around!

Ms. Bruschetta,
I had considered renting from party rental ltd… How are their prices? You can send me a PM if you want… They have EVERYTHING…. such better choices than our local place… but, Im sure there is a price tag that comes iwth it.

We have to rent everything as we are having an at home, tented wedding. Any help would be much appreciated!

PS. Your venue is GORGEOUS!

Ms. Brushetta, I actually second what Alison wrote above. Would you be able to message me some general price information. I’m mainly wondering about the table linens. I love following your entries and I LOVE F.U.E.L House!

@Alison: @Rebecca: What pricing particulars would you like? Shoot me a PM, because I don’t see a link to do that to you! :-)

We have to rent EVERYTHING, too, since we’re having our reception in a bare Soho loft space. It’s been a lot of work to figure out, but it will be really rewarding to have a space that we’ve completely transformed.

P.S. I love your tablecloth color!

I’m not renting, but I went my sister to her rental appointment, she is doing a similar orange fabric for the coktail hour tables. It is gorgeous!

It really pops. Your reception will look fantastic!

can’t wait to see what you turn the place into! Even though having to rent is more expensive–it’s got to be fun having a clean palette at your venue to decorate and snazz up as much as you want!
