A Bridal Tea Party

April 23rd, 2009 @ 2:39 pm by Mrs. Beagle

This past weekend, my FMIL threw me a “tea party” themed bridal shower at Green Pastures, a local restaurant in Austin.

The area surrounding Green Pastures is covered in greenery and there are even peacocks on the lawn. It also serves as a very popular wedding venue, and on the day of my shower, a couple had just been married and was on their way to the reception when we arrived. The shower took place in the “Music Room” in which a very old piano lived.

A Bridal Tea Party : wedding bridal shower Img 21202 I had so much fun trying out the different teas and chatting with the guests. The whole event lasted about 2.5 hours. I didn’t open gifts (as is customary at most showers?) in front of the guests, which eased a lot of anxiety that I had been feeling leading up to the event. Unfortunately, several guests were not able to make it. The thunderstorms from the previous day and early morning caused travel problems for a lot of people.

Aren’t my mothers so beautiful? :) I wish I would have taken more pictures with the guests, but I didn’t think of it until after the fact.

In addition to the gift bags I made for guests, FMIL Beagle gave out gifts to all the guests. What could be more appropriate for a tea party?

She had been collecting tea cups and saucers over the months prior from thrift stores and she even picked some up during her trip to England last fall. All the sets were so unique and I think all the guests really liked them.

And even though I told my mother not to bring a gift, she did. This was waiting on my doorstep when I arrived home from work one evening:

Wanna see what it is?

Can you guess?

*swoon* I never knew it was possible to feel this way about dishes. :)

Have you had a bridal shower? Was it themed?

BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!! Love every single touch of your tea shower! The peacocks, the spread, the vintage tea cup gifts. Love everything! It was so thoughtful of your family to do this. :)

Using teacups as favors was such a great idea! Glad you had a nice shower! Love the dishes your mom bought for you!

I love those dishes . . . Mr. HC deemed them too “girly” and wouldn’t let us register for them. Boo.

That’s my favorite dish set! I really wanted to register for it, but I was concerned because my BFF registered for the whole set last summer, and I didn’t want to copy her dish set. Now I’m thinking that was really silly of me. Oh well, I went with a dish set that was much more manly for FI.

My bridal shower will be sometime this summer in Austin, but I don’t know anything about it yet. Green Pastures is so yummy!

Ooooh. . . those dishes are so pretty. That design is definitely on my short list. It is nice to see a real pic of them. They are even cuter than on the website.

@Miss Bruschetta: I don’t know, but isn’t (s)he beautiful?
I was really worried about whether Mr. Beagle would like the dish set, but when I showed them to him… he said it looked really nice! :) (Plus they’re microwave & dishwasher safe-yes!)

Ohhhh, I am soooo jealous of your dishes. I wanted them so badly! But my FH hates them and is insisting on plain white… it’s pretty much the only thing he’s ever been picky about, so I’m going along with it. But, sigh. Those are my dream dishes.

By the way, has anyone else seen this set from Target:
http://www.target.com/Spring-Song-16-pc-Dinnerware-Set/dp/B001HTGJVC/qid=1240516479/ref=br_1_5/185-7956009-4481911?ie=UTF8&node=12945771&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1
It’s a cheaper alternative to the one above and I had debated a while between the two. :)
