About Mrs. Deviled Egg

With my shower coming up this weekend, I wanted to get something new to wear so can I feel a little extra special at the event. Like Miss Powder Puff, I was looking for a dress that looked good on me and has the potential to be worn again.

Over the last few days, I stopped at one or two clothing stores each day after work and checked out their dress selection. I was coming up empty handed and growing frustrated that I couldn’t find what I wanted. Yesterday, I stopped at the Ross Park Mall and figured I could take one last spin around to see what I could find.

My first stop was at the JC Penney and (woohoo!) it was also my last! Here is the dress I purchased:

The best part was that it was on sale at the store for $34.99!

I’m planning on wearing this dress again on the night of the wedding. I’m going to ditch my gown before I leave the reception site and change into this dress so I don’t have to take my very heavy dress with me to the hotel. And since it’s white, I’ll still feel like the bride.

The dress will also be great to wear on our honeymoon, which we FINALLY booked last week. (I promise to blog about it soon!)

To dress it up a little for the shower, I purchased this really cute necklace:

I love the flower and the peachy-pink color. It’s so feminine! I think it’s the perfect accessory to wear to a spring shower.

I might look for a cute cardigan sweater to wear over the dress, maybe in a lighter shade of green or lilac, to give it an extra punch of color and to help keep me comfortable if we need to use the air conditioning. If I don’t find one, it’s not a big deal. I like the dress as is, and it will look fine. I already have a pair or two of white shoes and sandals, so there’s no need for me to spend money on a new pair.

How practical are the dresses you’re wearing to your wedding events?  Do you think you’ll get a lot of mileage out of them or do you want to savor them as your “once in a lifetime” dresses?

Very cute! The first thought I had when I saw it was that it’s springy and bridal-y. :-) Great find!

Very cute dress! I bought a dress for one of my showers already, and I’ll be able to wear it to a wedding or two this summer as well! Just like you and PP, I like my dresses to serve more than one purpose!

Question for you - how see-through is it? I’ve been looking all over for white after-party dresses, but they’re all too see-through!

What a pretty dress! I bought a separate dress for my shower and for my rehearsal, but I plan on wearing both during the honeymoon. It sounds like you got a really good deal, too. I feel a little guilty because each of the dresses I bought were on sale for about $50, but I was ready to be FINISHED searching.

That’s a really pretty dress and the price is awesome! Can’t beat that. I definitely want to get more mileage out of almost everything I get for the wedding other than the wedding dress. I’m a practical kinda girl :)

@Rachel: It’s not that bad for a white dress. If I wear a nude-colored bra, you don’t really see it and the dress has a lining in the skirt, so I don’t think anyone can see through it. I might still wear a slip under it, though.

I love your dress and necklace! They are both so pretty and feminine.
If you’re still looking for a cardigan, I LOVE this one I got from Banana Republic. It comes in a bunch of different colors :)

Ha! I totally tried that dress on at Penney’s as a possible wedding dress. It looked pretty good on me except I wasn’t loving the neckline - it was for some reason, bunching on one of my bewbs. I’m so excited that it worked for you though - it’s such a cute dress.

Very cute! I like the necklace, too, with the pop of color. My dresses, for everything except the wedding, will be a wear-again. They’re too cute to only use once!

I’ll be wearing my afterparty dress to my engagement dinner. It’s not white, so I don’t think people will know I bought it for the wedding (until the night of, of course).

I love that dress.

Here’s the one I bought for our super casual rehearsal dinner / Welcome Picnic.

Truthfully I also bought in pink with a bunch of accessories to match for a wedding we’re attending in July. And one or both dresses will be coming along on our honeymoon.
