Wedding Shoes Round Two…

April 23rd, 2009 @ 8:31 am by Mrs. Gloss

I went shopping - and found THE MOST PERFECT WEDDING SHOES (again). They were yellow. They were Cole Haan (whom I have had a longstanding and unabashed love affair with for years). They were flat. Unfortunately, they were a size too small, and they only had one pair on the rack (clearance, obviously). They were perfect, and I contemplated torturing my feet for just one day, for maybe 10 minutes. In the end, I decided against it after what happened with the last ’perfect shoes’.

I had found two other pairs of shoes I was getting, so I made my way up to the counter. I waited in line, and then I asked - just out of curiosity - if they had any shoes in the back. They said that typically clearance shoes are all out on the racks, but volunteered to check anyways. I waited in suspense. The cashier said the woman checking would probably just call if she didn’t have any left. No call came. I saw her, and she had two boxes of shoes in her hands. I got excited, my stomach got all fluttery… and they were in MY size!!!! They’d never been on the floor, never been tried on by anyone’s feet but mine, and they were the perfect patent leather lemon yellow Cole Haan Piper Ballet flats in a 9.

To the Dear Ladies @ Saks,

Thank you for finding my shoes. Thank you for not looking at me with crazy eyes when I almost hugged you when you brought them. You really made my day - especially, when you rang them up and they were priced $20 less than marked, before the 50% off discount.

xoxo,
Miss Gloss

Without further ado - my wedding shoes!!!

Wedding Shoes Round Two... : wedding shoes 09 0220 Wedding Shoes Round Two... : wedding shoes 09 022001 And for those of you who stuck around - I got these bad boys for a whopping $14.98, hence the extreme level of excitedness!!! (I don’t think that is a word, but it is entirely accurate.)

ALSO - I have always read that you should break in your wedding shoes by wearing them around the house before the big day. This always confused me. How do I walk around without getting scuff marks on the bottoms? None of the super cute shoe shots I’ve seen have any signs of wear. Do I buy a second pair just for pictures? I read somewhere the other day that you put socks on OVER the shoes when you are breaking them in, so they stay pristine. Why did I not think of this before?

I am the only one that had no idea how this was done?

I always end up scuffing the sides of my shoes up since I’m such a klutz and trip on myself. I’ll have to try the sock trick. Sounds like it will work well…unless you have hardwood floors.

Oh yeah, and Hot shoes!

That is the best deal ever!!! The shoes are so cute & bright! =D
We have carpet in the house so I won’t be worried about scuff marks….or do you mean like if you hit the shoe against a table or something?

Wow… that’s a really great price! :)
The only other alternative to the sock thing would be to wear them around on carpet.

Congrats! Very cute…no clue on the “breaking in” question though, so I’ll be paying attention to responses as well!

Was this at the Cole Haan outlet I presume? I used to work at a first quality store and could slightly afford their shoes with my discount but now I’m back to being a regular poor college student and I’m always lusting after Cole Haan shoes. Good thing my fiance is going to be a dentist, the only splurges I will ask for are Cole Haan shoes and bags!

I think I would totally faceplant if I wore socks over shoes to break them in! ^_^
Those are adorable and $15? Ugh. We should all be so lucky. ^_^

LOVE THEM!

If you’re breaking them in indoors (ie, on carpet), the bottoms shouldn’t get scuffed up…. I believe the idea is to just soften the shape of the shoe a bit and conform to your actual foot a little better. I wore mine just around our apartment a few times but never went outside with them.

If you want to scuff up the soles, you’d go outside and scuff ‘em up on the pavement. The sock idea also sounds do-able, but I’m sure I’d slip and fall if I tried this :-)

Socks on the outside would work - also try breaking them in only on carpet.

More important, wear hose or socks and make sure your feet are totally clean when you break in your shoes, or you’ll end up (like me) with footprints inside the shoes, which will also ruin those coveted shoe-shots on the wedding morning.

I would consider getting a second pair, or a similar style to wear to get used to, especially if they’re so cheap and available!
