Piglets Head West

April 24th, 2009 @ 5:43 pm by Mrs. Piglet

Happy Friday! Wedding planning is on pause as of late. Mr Piglet and I decided to take a road trip… across the country… to LA… forever. Yup, we arrived this past Monday after 4 days overloaded with quality 1-on-1 time with the Mister.

I’ve left my job, where I’ve been employed since college, in pursuit of something completely different. One that involves working with the Mr, and I’m (pardon my french) scared sh!#less. While I am stoked to immerse myself in a totally new industry, I have my reservations about how working together will impact our relationship. Compounded with all the other changes such as living with a boy, leaving the family nest, and being in completely different surroundings is overwhelming, to say the least.

I’ve already felt a bit homesick after my first Skype session with my sister. Growing up as military brats, we traveled quite a bit up until high school. Moving from Nebraska, to Texas, to California, to Guam, to ultimately Virginia… well there’s a certain culture shock at each of these places. Although some of my friends would disagree, I’m shy and such the introvert. I cling to my sister, so naturally, she’s my besterist friend. It’s odd not seeing her daily. Miss you JEN! xoxoxox

But thank god for my dear friend, Jean, and my new roomie until the wedding. She moved out here in February. A familiar face is always nice! Veryyy nice!

But it’s time to buckle down, and get my learn on again. I was too comfortable before. This girl has some growing up to do!

What significant changes before/after marriage concerned you most?

Oh wow, that’s a big change! I am hoping we move to Denver in the next year. Not a HUGE change, considering we live in Missouri, but we both want to live in Denver and start our lives there.

We’ll see how that one goes!

@Miss Glitter: My confidence is shot being unfamiliar with the area! I need to get used to this lane sharing thing… I feel like cher on clueless when she goes on the highway… oh the horror! :)

I’m moving across the country (and away from my family for the first time) as well and have lots of apprehension!

I hope you post about your transition and adjustments so I can prepare a little better!

Hope the new job and new surroundings suit you!

I love the second picture. Reminds me of the Oregon Trail game! Good luck with the big move and all the changes! I know it’ll all work out. Btw, I’m a military brat as well!

I don’t have HUGE changes, just switching schools where I’m currently teaching (HOPEFULLY, because I can’t take it anymore), moving into a new apartment with the Mr. before the wedding and then, well, planning the wedding. This will take place within a month of each other. Changes piled on changes.

Ms. Piglet, just remember to keep your sanity through it all. Life’s full of lessons and the lessons that lie ahead can be exciting and scary, but just learn from them is all. I wish you all the best!
