From what I’ve been reading on various boards, blogs, and sites, I’m fortunate to have an involved groom. Mr. Mary Jane and I are both pretty big on planning pretty much everything, and our marriage is no exception. I’ll admit that some aspects of our planned nuptials have fallen by the wayside: our spring school term is approaching “crunch time” and we’re solidifying the purchase of our house. But we’re still thinking about it!
Our schedules are such that we don’t spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer together. Instead we rely on Google Docs as a repository for all things planning-related. (We even make grocery lists on it sometimes!) Google Docs allows us to access and edit our resources from any computer (with Internet access). It’s connected to our Gmail accounts; I just click on “Documents” in the left corner of the Gmail screen when I want to get to it. We mostly use it to create documents, but it has tools for creating spreadsheets, presentations, and forms too.
I take “clippings” from Google image searches, wedding websites, clothing stores, and other online sources and save the photos in the wedding document. This isn’t quite an inspiration board, but it works for us. If one of us decides we don’t care for a picture or theme, we can easily delete it from the document.

The photos featured in the above screen shot were found using Google Image Search. None of them are MY photos.
Most recently, I found about a dozen men’s wedding ring options and placed the photos in the Google doc. Mr. Mary Jane was then able to review them and choose his favorites, then remove the ones that weren’t his style. He is also able to add more styles and make new suggestions.
Our mothers both have Gmail accounts too, so we were able to include them as collaborators in this document. They’ve both enjoyed looking through it (but even with my encouragement, I don’t think either one has actually edited anything).
Google docs is an easy way to share and collaborate on a bunch of information any time, anywhere. I could see using the spreadsheet as a guest list, address book or timeline planner. The form could be used to solicit decisions or opinions from the wedding party. It’s all pretty easy to use and works well as a central repository for a lot of our planning and brainstorming needs.
Some Bees have used newsletters, others use their Knottie bios, and others use the “old-fashioned” telephone. Do you use any special programs, websites, or tools to plan your wedding with your FI, family, and/or bridal party?
