About Mrs. Powder Puff

Get. In. My. Belly!

April 26th, 2009 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Powder Puff

Like many other brides before me, I have been workin’ on my fitness so I can be a super sexy lady come wedding time. And so far, I’ve been doing really well. I’ve been sticking to my workout regimen, and I’ve seen some great results!

But I have a downfall. And oh, what a downfall it is!

Yes, the delicious monkey clinging to my back is none other than the lovely, tart yet sweet Sour Patch Kids. Om nom nom!

Oh Sour Patch Kids, why can’t I quit you?!

I crave these bad boys about once every couple of weeks, and let me tell you, they are delicious little devils! I’ve never been good at sticking to a diet. My sweet tooth will not be ignored, yo! So for now, my fitness routine is exercise with a healthy dose of candy on the side!

Are there any foods that you can’t give up for the sake of a diet?

I love candy! my fiancé loves candy even more than I do, too - he’ll shove a whole bag of gummy bears into his mouth before I even know we have them!
But oh… do I love cookies. My workout regime is something like:
Jillian level 2
eat 4 cookies
Jillian level 3
eat 3 cookies plus 4 brownies
Jillian level 2
finish off the cookies.
I bake them from scratch - and they are so so tasty!

Oh man. I love those things. At least they’re fat free! Unlike uh… peanut butter cups. And heavily buttered popcorn. :(

@Miss Rye Bread: oh btw Jillian is my little slang for The Shred. She’s been shreding me so much (even with the cookies), we’re on a first-name basis ;)

I just cut down on my soda intake, and let me tell you now, it is not easy for me. After a long run I always crave a delicious cherry coke. :)

I have a very serious addiction to Sour Patch Kids. My #1 favorite candy of all time. Mr. Lab knows that if he wants on my good side after a fight, bring the kids to me! lol

Wine. I used to drink a glass every night. Now I am limited to 1 glass a week but this weekend I had 2 :(

Um, Swedish Fish. I know, I know. It’s ridiculous. I, too, cannot give up the wine. I factor in my 100 cal/glass every evening into my caloric intake b/c i simply cannot not have some!

Chocolate, chocolate and chocolate. I can stop most junk food (I never have crisps, cookies, fizzy drinks or even tea & coffee) but I gave up looong ago on stopping choccies. The best I can do is be sensible about it and eat as little as possible. I also crave yoghurt and expensive fruit I can’t afford, but those are good for you!

I always hafta have a little something sweet. Mr. Bruschetta and I keep a bowl of Hershey’s Kisses in the fridge for quick after dinner treats…but we each make sure the other doesn’t O.D. on chocolate in one sitting!

Along with over indulging in something sweet, does anyone else justify eating more because you neeed to “balance” piles?

Like, “hmm…I’ve eaten 10 reds and only 3 green. That won’t work.”

Giving up favorite treats is sooo difficult. One thing I absolutely have to stay away from is jelly beans (Life Savers). I have absolutely no will power against them. Most other things I can suffer through cutting back on, but holy heck, jelly beans are my gateway food drug to terrible food mistakes! If I have a handful, the bag is promptly consumed.

When I was in college I lost almost 80 pounds by giving up everything that was bad for me- and I was miserable. I vowed I’d never give up something I loved- I just have it in moderation. I cannot live without ice cream and double-stuffed oreos. I just have a few instead of a whole package. And the weight has stayed off! Thank goodness! :)

Yes!!! Many things. Too many to list! I have been trying to make the no pudge brownies, and eat lots of grapes instead of candy. I have really eaten a lot of junk since I’m done with the boudoir shoot, but only around a month till the wedding so I have to get serious again!

btw those sour patch kids look damn good… ;)

I can’t give up sodas. Completely wasted calories, but I want one pretty much every day. I think a little treat is good for you, especially in moderation, but it’s hard to work toward a goal and feel like what you want is holding you back!!

Ice cream. No question. FI has tried to help me overcome the addiction, but at this point in life I’ve just accepted my weakness and worked to find the “healthiest” option that still tastes like the real thing. I’ve been sticking with Dreyer’s slow churn for a while, but it’s getting a little old… any other suggestions?

I love gummy worms…. I crave them every week. Every time I go to CVS… I have to pick up a bag of gummy worms. About half the time, I am able to restrain myself… but the other times I just have to give in.

@Miss Rye Bread: LMAO! You crack me up!

@Miss Quiche & @Miss Beagle: Swedish fish are so yummy!

But as my Twitter and Facebook friends know, my weakness lately has been Nilla Cakesters! WHY ARE THEY SO TASTY! I eat the 100 cal packs, but it doesn’t help that I eat like 3 in a sitting :-/

I’ve actually been doing surprisingly good on my diet (weight loss is a great motivator!). To curb my sweet tooth I indulge in every flavor of gum imaginable. I went off my diet for a week to hang with my FI, and my downfall is definitely 1. my dad’s cooking and 2. Taco Bell. Oh I love Taco Bell. That deliciously flavored mystery meat…mmm!

i’d much rather just buy a regular bag.

I can’t possibly stick to just one vice! For some reason, I have almost no trouble motivating myself to absolutely kill my muscles at the gym 5, even 6 days a week, but I cannot talk myself away from a bowl of chocolate raspberry frozen yogurt, ruffle chips or a second helping of coconut curry. Truthfully, whenever I have a really big craving I just eat it and use it as motivation at the gym the next day! So far so good!

Ice cream and candy are the only things standing between me and the skinny me who has been imprisoned in this chub suit for the last ten years. Oh yea, that and a nasty lazy streak.
