Anticipation!

April 27th, 2009 @ 6:09 pm by Mrs. Ballet Flat

Wow! Can you believe it’s almost MAY? I remember March 2008 so vividly. Ever since my engagement ring was placed on my finger, Mr. BF and I have been planning for our big day to happen!

This past weekend, I met my amazing photographer, Amanda Meyer, at City Park in New Orleans, where we took my bridal pictures. This made me thankful for our indoor wedding, because I will not need to dodge large caterpillars, nor will I need to pick random leaves out of my crinoline.

I do need to mention that I had a snag that morning. I tore my right contact lens with NO extras at my parents’ home, so I decided that I would just take the bridals without glasses, trying my best to focus on the camera. I’m pretty blind without my contacts, so this made for an interesting day. I spent the day (except for the picture taking) in my glasses. I usually wouldn’t care, but because I got those little nose marks from the pads on my glasses, I would constantly have to re-blend my makeup in that area to make sure it wasn’t really noticeable.

I had my hair/makeup trials done that morning by Get Polished, and ladies, let me tell you that airbrush makeup is worth every penny. I had it applied at 11AM Saturday morning, and late that night, it was mostly still on! Amazing for my oily face! :)

Here’s my face with the wedding makeup and my curly hairdo.

I’m not sure if you can really see here, but my eyeshadow is fairly smoky, and I have false eyelashes on. That was a new experience right there. They felt weird for about 30 minutes, and then I got used to those little enhancements!

Oh false eyelashes, how I adore thee. I’m a natural dirty blonde, so by nature, I have very little eyelashes. Mr. BF, however, has the best eyelashes ever. I hope our future kids get his eyelashes… seriously!

You can also see a side view of the hair. This picture made me realize just how much I need to get my hair re-highlighted. :)

After my primping, I went to Clinique to get some retouch lip color that the makeup artist used on me. I knew I wanted to eat lunch, so I’d need to re-apply. As an added bonus, I think I might like the lip color for everyday use. It’s a little bit of color, but it’s not too bold for me. Just in case you wanted to know, I’m wearing “Baby Baby” in their Buttershine lipstick line.

After getting weird stares at the mall (I can’t imagine why ;) ), I went to my florist to get a bouquet she made for the bridals. How GORGEOUS is this? My actual bouquet will be a little bigger, with coral roses instead of pink.

This day became one of those crazy moments where it really sunk in. I am about to be a bride! :)

Did you discover new products during your makeup trial that you’ve added to your everyday routine?  What were they?

Miss BF, you look beautiful and although these are pre-wedding pics, you have a wedding-day glow about you. I cant wait to see the pics and read all about your wonderful day (minus the contact incident - I’m so sorry to hear that). Nevertheless, GORGEOUS!

YOU.LOOK.GORGEOUS!
I had my make-up done at the Laura Mercier counter on Sunday for my E-pics and fell in love with a new lip shade and fake eyelashes.
I’m going to have my make-up airbrushed on “the big day” too :)

I LOVE THE HAIR!
The makeup is nice–but it seems a tad too heavy for my own personal taste…nobody wants to be a bride with caked on makeup right? :) But thats just my opinion.

hi, just wanted to say that you look really pretty, but being a licensed Cosmetologist and certified in makeup, i really would go a little bit more dramatic with the makeup, you might want to look natural, but you’ll notice that in pics of your wedding afterwards you are going to blend in too much. Trust me, I’ve done many weddings and i’ve always done my brides like that. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

and i also can see your black bobby pin holding up your hair, ask your hairdresser to either hide that better or use a different color, they do have bronze bobby pins and there are ways to hide it.

Oh B-Flat, you look so sweet and pretty!

My fav wedding day make up items I continue to use almost three months later are:

Lancome Hypnose Mascara
Bare Minerals Mineral Veil powder
Bare Escentuals Prime Time face primer

All of these things can be purchased at Sephora.

Also, something I love love love that I definitely used for my wedding day face and beyond is Benefit’s Benetint cheek stain. Oh yes, you shall have pretty rosey cheeks all night long!

Don’t fret about the contacts…

My Uncle accidentally SWALLOWED his future-wife’s contacts the night before the wedding!

She had forgotten to pack her contact bag, so she was soaking her contacts in regular old H20 in the hotel bathroom. He woke up in the middle of the night to take a sip and— oops! No more contacts.

Also– you look lovely!

Love you hairdo! And, I hear ya on the eyelashes — my makeup pro let me know the ones she used on me are called (wait for it…) “Shorties.” ::hanging my head in shame at my tiny lashes::

I used to be a contact lens wearer, and man, I remember being so frustrated when (on occasion) one would rip — I was totally unable to see anything without them!

You look lovely, my dear. :-)

SO PRETTY! I feel for you with the contact fiasco. I’m so glad I don’t need any glasses/contacts, but the Mr. does and his are constantly giving him problems. :(
