I’ve finally got my proof to show that Mr. Milkshake initiated the cake smash, even when he had agreed not to!

I am so blown away with how our StillMotion Super8 video turned out. Their photographer extraordinaire, Amina, flew across the country to give up her trusty SLR to man a camcorder that was circa 1970 for the day. I love the composition of every shot and just how tightly she framed everything… it’s like she shot it with a 200mm lens, and I love, love, love it. Amina was able to pick up her camera two days later to produce these awe-inspiring images of our TTD.

I screen captured some of my favorite frames from the video, below. I saw her shooting the balloons but didn’t realize just how playful and lovely it would turn out. I am amazed at how the camera was able to make the sunbeams dance, and even the pro photographs we have of the evening weren’t able to capture just how gorgeous that sunset was like the Super8 did.

Yes, despite the fact that I got married in ’08, I wasn’t interested in 12 hours of raw footage in 1080p. The same day edit was more than enough for me, and with already having thousands of images shot on 35mm film, the idea of having footage that could have only been 8 minutes long really appealed to my nostalgic side.

In case anyone is new to the hive, StillMotion also filmed our same day edit and trash the dress.

I love how that style of video would make even the most traditional, conservative weddings seem fun and accessible! Imagine footage from a big cathedral wedding…

You’re right about the composition - it’s a really gorgeous souvenir to have of the day!

Is it possible NOT to be in love with Super 8? I love their choice of music, it’s always so spot on. Did you consult with them on soundtrack options?

I love every single thing that stillmotion does, but all of your videos are really perfect. Its really amazing how super 8 makes everything feel vintage.
