The Real Trial - Part 1

April 28th, 2009 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Joey

The amazing Ashley came over on Saturday to do our real hair and makeup trial. We did one previously, but I didn’t know what I really wanted. She was great. She used my inspiration pictures to come up with the perfect hair and makeup combo.

So, this is me on a normal day. I don’t wear much makeup, save for blush, eyeliner (mostly on the bottom), and mascara. That’s it. I used wear more, but traveling has forced me to simplify.

joey

This is my fancy face, which consists of a little tinted moisturizer, more eyeliner, and a little shadow. I don’t usually wear lip color. My lips would look HUGE. I’m lip salve kind of girl.

Here is Ashley’s handiwork.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the airbrushing. It was so light; it didn’t feel like I had makeup on. Overall, I really like the makeup. I’m not a huge fan of the really light shadow right below my eyebrows. Maybe something a teensy bit closer to my skin color would look better? What do you think of the shimmery shadow? I really like it, but I was also thinking of going with something a little more pink. I really would love to do a green or yellow, but I’m not sure it would go with the borrowed sari.

I do think we need to go with longer lashes. We did medium length flares, with just 3 on each side. I think they made my lashes fuller, but not any longer. I played with the longer lashes a bit on Sunday, and I don’t think they look too crazy, especially since she’d place them on the outer corners only.

What are your thoughts on my look? Was wearing heavy makeup uncomfortable for you or did you enjoy it?

Love your eye makeup! My look was, in reality, a lot more makeup than I usually wear, but it didn’t LOOK like it was…and it was light and comfy and breathable.

No, I think the light eyeshadow below your eyebrows is a good thing! It reads really well in pictures! Overall, fabulous–you look fantastic, and those colors are exactly right for you!!! You look like you’re wearing less makeup than your everyday look! That’s amazing considering you hardly wear makeup. LOVE the whispy hair, too!!!

I agree about the white line under your eyebrows…that’s a little TOO much highlighting…but the rest is very pretty!! (Like she could mess up with your gorgeous mug!)

I don’t mind the shimmer either, in fact I kinda like it :)
I would try some longer lashes, I wore fake lashes for the first time this weekend for me e-pic and I loved how they made my eyes pop.
P.S. YOU ARE GORGEOUS!!!

Love the makeup and the hair! I like the shimmer a lot! It makes your eyes stand out. I would even say that you go with a little more color on your lips.

I am sooooooooooo excited now! I ws weary about the airbrush makeup (I saw a woman butcher someone at Sephora with the Dior spray on stuff…shudder) but yours look fantastic! As for your questions, I lvoe the overall look, especially with some additional lashes! The shimmer on the brow bone looks good, but I do see your point about it being a TOUCH too much. Is it that defined in person, or is the flash from the camera enhancing it? I dont think it looks bad by any means, but it might look one way in front of a camera flash and another in natural lighting. Overall, B-E-A-UTIFUL!

I agree, the air brush is amazing and your eyes really stand out.

I plan to go a little heavy on the makeup for my wedding day because I want it to look great in pictures.

You look all glowy and beautiful! Definitely think you should repeat it for the wedding! I was very uncomfortable with wearing what felt like a “mask” of makeup during my trial. But once I noticed how well it photographed, I tried to ignore how strange I felt :)

I love it!!
I like the nude lip alot - I think I need to rethink my lip color :)
I like the highlight under the brow, but agree maybe a little closer to your skin tone would be better.

Thanks for all the flattering comments–I’m blushing!
@KellyV: I think it’s the light but in person, the white is really pronounced. My friend thinks a little more blending will help that.
@Bobasti: There’s nothing on my lips but airbrush foundation. Some got on in the process and I forgot to wipe it off before I took the pictures. I’m looking for a gloss that’s like MAC’s lip glass but not as sticky, any suggestions ladies?

I agree with your friend Miss Joey - some blending could really help. But overall, it looks amazing - so natural, yet gorgeous!!

I’ve been really happy with my new Laura Mercier lip gloss that I got at Sephora. It’s not sticky at all!

You look beautiful! Personally, I like the lighter shade beneath your brows, it really highlights and makes your eyes pop.
I would say go for more false lashes though, either a full strip or a few more of the ’singles’ per eye. You have gorgeous eyes and the eyeliner defines them well, but longer and fuller lashes will take you from special occasion to bride. :)
I love how she curled your bangs to frame your face, its such a romantic look.

Oh, just read your comment on MAC Lip Glass… I actually do have a suggestion!!! I was at Sephora recently and I tried on the Laura Mercier Lip Plumper. It didn’t really plump my lips (definitely not like BE or LipFusion does) but the gloss felt incredibly light and it didn’t feel sticky - like when you smack your lips together… know what I mean? They only have 4 display shades so I’m not sure how many colors it comes in, and unfortunately none of them worked for me but I would recommend you check it out just because of the way it feels on your lips!
