About Mrs. Peep Toe

So Proud of My Mister

April 29th, 2009 @ 12:39 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

I rarely post about non-wedding related things regarding the Peeps, but Mr. Peep got some pretty big news this weekend, and I am glowing with excitement.

Ever since I met Mr. Peep, he’s talked about changing careers or or going back to grad school. The problem: he left undergrad with some hanging credits. A hot-headed 22-year-old walked out of undergraduate school and moved to California with ONE class to go. While the wine industry has been a great career for over 10 years for him, a couple of bad job choices finally left him wanting more.

After some soul searching, my typically laissez-faire fiance took the bull by the horns and enrolled in a program to not only finish up his undergraduate degree, but to fulfill the prerequisites to apply for his MBA. He found an MBA program in San Francisco that not only caters to older students (since he’s no spring chicken), but that focuses on business and the environment, aka a Green MBA.

Since August, Mr. Peep has been going to school 3 to 4 nights a week, working weekends, attending grad school open houses, and doing what he needed to do to get accepted.

And finally, this weekend, he got an ACCEPTANCE email!! It was a great day in his life, and I have to say—it was a great day in MY life. I’ve been to grad school, I have my degree, but I did it when I was young, and with no responsibility. Mr. Peep has had heaps of responsibility—a full time job, a wedding to help plan, animals to take care of, a fiance to keep happy, ;) etc.

It makes me so excited to have a life partner that is working so hard for ’our’ future. I’ve said it before, but every day he amazes a little more, and I am so proud of him.

What has your fiance done to make you proud? Are either of you going back to school or changing careers?

Awww, go Mr. Peep!

I’m amazed at how much Mr. Bruschetta’s shouldered — and continues to take on. He put himself through undergrad, and is doing the same with his DPT degree, working several jobs to help pay for school and studying like crazy in the final months of his program…all while staying close to family and friends (and me!). :-)

Yay for Mr. Peep!
I was amazed that Mr. Mascara quit his job in Michigan and moved to Illinois to be with me, even though he loved his job! I love hearing about how the people he now works with are learning what a great employee he is, and he’s finally getting some of the recognition he deserves!

Go, Mr. Peep!

My FI is also in school. He is taking online classes (better option for his career) to pursue a Bachelors degree. He already had an Associates but had realized that having a Bachelors degree in our field is highly beneficial. I was so proud when he told me one day prior to our engagement that he was going for the degree.

Yay Mr P!!!!! I am 5 classes away from getting my undergrad and I can’t wait. I see all the challenges he has to face all the time since my school is not a traditional school, and it always amazes me how people are able to fit in school with their schedules :)

Congrats to Mr. P, and to you too Miss P. FH, also took a huge step about a year ago. I was attending law school, and he was a bit bummed that he couldn’t talk about grad school to my friends (weird I know, but his feelings are his feelings). In any case, he found a Masters in Biotech/MBA program at Hopkins. He has long wanted to get out of the lab and into the business side of biotech, and this was his first big step. he has been working really hard: working full time, going to school part time, and trying to keep up with home stuff too. I am pretty proud for taking the initiative and working so hard

Yes, what school is that at? I’m in SF, too, and a Green MBA sounds exciting!

YAY Mr Peep!
I am in the midst of a career change that is going to take me longer than I would like b/c I’m working full time… FH is very supportive and wants me to get the degree I want no matter how long it takes :)

My FH is finishing up some undergrads to apply for Medical school. He’s no spring chicken either. We’re both turned 30 this year and he already has a Masters in Humanities, but couldn’t find a job that made enough of a difference to keep him satisfied. So after a bunch of soul-searching he’s decided he wants to be a doctor. And, yes, I see him working so hard for “our” future too. The lack of one-on-one time is sometimes difficult, but I have to remember that he’s doing what he’s doing for both of us. Especially when I consider the alternative of having a husband who’s miserable in his career.

@Briana: you’re a quick one.
