For starters, I should tell you that our “first look” wasn’t exactly the type of “first look” you typically see here on Weddingbee. We had our rehearsal dinner at our house the night before the big day (I will blog about it later… I’m still waiting on pictures from guests!), and the plan was for Mr. Dumpling to stay at a hotel with his family or friends. We live together, and we were just trying to be a little bit traditional. Ha! That kind of… well… never played out right. After all 50 guests left, Mr. Dumpling went out for drinks with his friends, but instead of going to a hotel, he just came home instead. Go ahead and laugh at us, ’cause yeah—we’re dorks like that.
So we woke up together the morning of our wedding and looked at each other and said, “OMG we are totally getting married today.” It felt like any other day, honestly.
I went to one bathroom to get my makeup and hair done, and he went to another bathroom and did whatever it is he does in the mornings to look gorgeous. We actually saw each other the whole time because I had a *tiny* meltdown over something on my dress, and he needed to calm me down. I remember sitting in my closet doing that inhale-exhale-cry thing (you know the kind… Elle Woods, Legally Blonde, in the restaurant…) and he came in there and said, “Follow me, let’s go.” We went to one of our guest rooms and he basically told me to calm down because we were getting married, and nobody would notice the big spot on my dress. Sweet little liar, isn’t he?
It worked though, and then the spot came off the dress. Life was good!
At that point, he’d seen me with my hair and makeup done, and in that pink Juicy Couture robe I always wear, but not the dress.
This is me and my bridesmaids upstairs outside of our bedroom getting moisturized and laughing at our silly photographer, Josh Cohen.

While I was putting on my dress, he was fastening his cuff links…

… and tying his shoes. Looking good, Mr. Dumpling. Me likey. I had no idea he was getting dressed in the next room. I don’t even think I closed the double doors to our bedroom. Ah, oh well. I really had no idea what was going on at that point, anyway.

I had my shoes on, and the veil was on -backwards- and it was time to head down the stairs.

One last fix of my hair from J… I was so happy in that moment. Can you tell?

Getting in position for the big reveal… can you see our bouquets in the background?
Mr. Dumpling… yoo-hoo! It’s me!

OMG, I couldn’t get over how gorgeous he looked. Don’t tell anyone, but he got a little bit choked up when he saw me. He said I blew him away with how beautiful I looked. **Note to self: Must have hair and makeup done more often.**
And look! He came bearing gifts! I know where this is from!
It was a beautiful necklace from Tiffany that I have worn every single day since then! It’s just a simple silver necklace with two rings that can’t be torn apart. How cute is that?!

OK, everyone ready to go get married? Good! Let’s get outta here!

See ya on the flip side!
