Everything I Do…

April 30th, 2009 @ 4:59 pm by Mrs. Cheese

… I do it for you.

You’re welcome for getting a cheesy Bryan Adams song stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Now we’re in the same boat. The Cheese Boat!

So, it’s 1AM and I’m sitting in a hot, musty, fluorescent-lighted man-building (you know, the kind where only men work and the smells of metal and yucky hand soap mix with sweat and grease?) on the world’s worst office chair.

Why?

Because Mr. C’s been working all night on a side gig — with proceeds going to our honeymoon — and I’m the support crew. I’ve made two caffeine runs, picked up crappy (yummy) fast food, and smiled each time he walked by for the sake of morale.

If that’s not love…

Really, he’s worth it. He’s working incredibly hard with a really great attitude both to further the possibility of a bigger contract and to pull in some extra cash. I hate that he does this, that he goes from his normal job directly to this extra work without a break often until morning, that he doesn’t get the time to rest and recharge during a very stressful time.

So if sitting in this shitty chair and smiling periodically makes him feel better about working nonstop for the last 17 hours, I will do it. Boy, laying on a beach for a week is going to be SWEET.

It seems to have fallen out of vogue to talk about standing by your man, and in an if-it-was-at-my-own-expense way, I get that. But isn’t the point of all of this to have someone who supports you? Even if it’s only because they have no choice? :)

I feel like I owe y’all some follow-up after my last post, and I will get there, but right now this girl’s gotta head home and take a shower to get the metal smell outta my hair (”I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair”… anybody? Anybody?).

My guy travels a lot for work and occasionally drives into the wee hours of the morning to make it back so he can go to the office on time…I know…it’s ridiculous….I stay up and read so that I can call him every 60-90 minutes and entertain/keep him awake. It’s not fun, but it’s worth it and it seemingly makes him happy.

You’re posts are like a great tv drama-sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry, and sometimes I even learn something. And I’m always anxious for the next episode!

Oh, man, I know what you mean. A month ago I sat at a desk from 10am - 2am (with food breaks), stuffing, stickering, and sealing 515 envelopes for the opening of my man’s new law firm. This was after a few week’s worth of hand-addressing them all! The things we do for love, eh? ;) A smile is really the only payment necessary. And besides, you work up some great memories doing stuff like this. I can’t tell you how many episodes of Southpark we laughed over that day. You’ll have a great time on your honeymoon! :D

I can hear it now “Stand by your man..” I too know that feeling of sticking around somewhere you dont want to be but you do it because you love the guy. Many a time I have found myself wanting to just crawl out of my skin but LOVE keeps me hanging around. Especially remembering all the times HE did things for me that were uncomfortable as well. I feel ya sista!

I also wanted to say I enjoy your posts so much as well. I recently bookmarked your post on walking down the aisle alone and I COMPLETELY related to that. It would also break tradition in my family and getting around to talking about is NOT something I am looking foward too.

I’m with ya miss CHEESE. :-)

Yay for the Cheese support!! ;)

FI is a mechanic, so I’ve been known to stand outside and entertain him (mostly talking and handing him tools) and also have to use my very small hands to get into tight places since he’s got massive hands. You know what they say about big hands… :)

I don’t think that song is going to get stuck in my head nearly as much as the Mini Sirloin Burger song, although it would be a nice change ;-)

I once slept in our college campus security booth on a rolling chair next to my fiance (then, boyfriend!) because he was working nearly 24 straight hours to help us try to save up money to get our first apartment. Love him.
