It takes a lot for this self-proclaimed Cardio Queen to back away from the elliptical and scoot on over to the weights side of the gym. In fact, it has taken me almost 3 years of working out with Mr. S to finally make the leap. But a bride-to-be has to do what a bride-to-be has to do.

No, don’t worry, that’s not my inspirational picture that’s helping me through the workouts. As if. While I’d definitely prefer not to have chicken wings on the day-of, I have no need to see the veins popping out of my biceps as I walk down the aisle.
This is a secret I’ve kept to myself since January when Antonia Van der Meer, editor in chief of Modern Bride magazine, called me to let me know that I was one of Modern Bride’s 2009 Trendsetters! It was definitely one of the most exciting moments of my life! Other trendsetters this year include event designer Colin Cowie, hair accessories guru Jennifer Behr, and jewelry designer Ivanka Trump (who is actually featured on the same page I am)!

Ever since Mrs. Kitten posted about the much-loved aqua and poppy color combination, I’ve had a hankering to play with these shades.
So, while the biscotti baked, I set to work on the labels and packaging I’d planned out.
I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I may have gotten a little obsessed with the impending engagement between the time that I helped pick out the ring and when Mr. Mary Jane chose to give it to me.
It wasn’t the ring itself that I wanted. I mean, of course I wanted the ring, in its beautiful sparkly gorgeousness… but what I wanted more than anything was to be engaged (and then married) to Mr. Mary Jane. We were so close. Sooooo close. And I was SO ready for the next step.
I tried to be a mature, compassionate adult about the whole thing. I convinced myself that I found it sweet that Mr. MJ wanted to be traditional about the proposal. He is, after all, a door-opening, coat-taking, heavy-stuff-carrying gentleman. It was nice of him to include me in the ring-picking process, which I enjoyed very much. I would let him do this himself, on his own time.
Growing up, upon finding out about something fun I were going to do in the near future, I used to make myself sick with excitement. I suspect it’s the same with many children, but I’ve never really grown out of it. Instead of a stomach ache, adult me just gets really, really obsessed with the matter at hand. Say, for example, Mr. Mary Jane and I had decided to get a kitten, but we wouldn’t get him for a month. I’d spend that whole month reading everything there is to know about kittens, looking at pictures of kittens, visiting kittens in the humane society, talking to kitten-owners about their vets, and buying cute crap for the kitten to play with when it arrived. I’d probably even make color-coded kitten-related charts. I like to be in control, and I like to plan. And when I can’t get what I want right now, I want to know when I will get it so that I can prepare. I have no excuse for this; it’s a flaw of mine. (And yes, I’m an only child. What gave it away?)

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
The D’orsays have gone into a flurry of activity. Mr. D is filling out forms in duplicate and I’m… blogging about it.
The Cliff’s Notes version of our journey so far: fill out I-129F forms, the G forms that accompany them, and send these (along with $455) to the immigration folks, wait 6 months, receive a letter saying the petition (not the visa) is approved and is being sent to the State Dept., wait 4 weeks, wait on hold at international calling rates to find out your package was sent to the embassy in London the day prior, wait 2-3 weeks and receive a letter from the embassy directing you to two internet links. Set up medical appointment in London (£300 {approx $435} in travel for us to get to London and £180 {approx $260} for the medical appointment). Contact the police for a police certificate (pay £35 {approx $50}, get my tax returns notarized ($75 approx $110), find Mr. D’s birth certificate, passport photos (approx £15 {approx $21}), mail a letter and several forms in duplicate to the embassy, wait, wait, wait, and receive an interview date.
Since I’m more efficient than the US government, I’m going to give you the two links, though I’m sure if I had searched earlier I would have found them after a while. This is the link which has the forms you need and this is the link to the medical appointment info (you have to click the link on the right for any real info). I had been tipped off about several of the forms we’d need from WB readers (thanks blightygirl!) and from Visa Journey.com. Because of my fears of not making enough money to sponsor Mr. D, my mother has graciously agreed to co-sponsor him to ensure that we’re actually able to be married.
What I wish we had done in retrospect?

No, I’m not cheating on Mr. Ballet Flat. I promise! ![]()
I’m just extremely excited about our honeymoon to Orlando, FL. Last time I went to Disney World, I teared up on the ferry when I saw Cinderella’s Castle. Yes, I’m a Disney FREAK! I’m sure I’ll bawl again behind my obnoxiously huge sunglasses.
Disney World is not one of those honeymoons where you just relax all day. Disney World involves serious walking (up to 5+ miles a day), pretty good strategy, and the fun part, being a kid all over again! We wouldn’t have it any other way! ![]()

This past weekend, my FMIL threw me a “tea party” themed bridal shower at Green Pastures, a local restaurant in Austin.

Today’s photo of the day was uploaded by msBlossom. Check out these drool-worthy petit fours that were a part of the candy table at her wedding! They’re almost too pretty to eat! Almost!

Mr. Gloss has been traveling a lot for work, so it has given me time to complete some of the more ‘secret’ wedding projects, namely, the garter, and a potential veil. Also, I’ll be able to finish up some non-groom secret wedding things, like the flower for my hair and the bridesmaids’ jewelry. So, welcome to my Mr.Gloss-is-gone-craft-a-thon.
First up: the garter
As it seems to be with all my DIY projects, the first try is to just try and figure things out. Knowing that the first attempt will most likely not really come out the way I had anticipated, I’ve been remembering to plan ahead and purchase extra supplies. So, this is actually garter attempt round two, as the first one came out looking like a giant ivory satin scrunchie and was actually really uncomfortable to wear, even for the four minutes I was walking around the apartment with it on. I am even too embarrassed to post pictures of it since it nowhere near resembles a ‘garter’, but rather an over-the-top wedding accessory from the early ’90s. Yikes!
So back to the drawing board I went. I re-evaluated the situation and brainstormed what backfired with round one:

Last Friday I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Joey, Miss Burgundy, Boddy, and Rachael in San Diego. We had so much fun talking and laughing while enjoying some delicious desserts. Although I have to admit, we probably sounded pretty funny to anyone listening to our conversation. “Lemonade is getting married this weekend. Oh, did you see Deviled Egg’s cake? Cupcake’s recaps have been great.” It may have sounded like we were crazy, but at the same time, I loved being able to be with a group of people who read Weddingbee just as much as I do, and knew exactly what I was talking about!

And among the bills, Macy’s coupons, and junk mail that came, there was this envelope.
Some people suffer from post-wedding depression. I suffer from post-DIY nostalgia.
I look longingly at my box of craft goodies. I spend an unhealthy amount of time window shopping at PaperSource. My heart palpitates when I hear of other people’s craft projects.
Someecards never ceases to amuse me.
It’s a sickness that can only be cured by medication… or an occasion to craft. Thank goodness for my friends R & M, who came to rescue by letting me do the table numbers for their May wedding.

With my shower coming up this weekend, I wanted to get something new to wear so can I feel a little extra special at the event. Like Miss Powder Puff, I was looking for a dress that looked good on me and has the potential to be worn again.
Over the last few days, I stopped at one or two clothing stores each day after work and checked out their dress selection. I was coming up empty handed and growing frustrated that I couldn’t find what I wanted. Yesterday, I stopped at the Ross Park Mall and figured I could take one last spin around to see what I could find.
My first stop was at the JC Penney and (woohoo!) it was also my last! Here is the dress I purchased:

Reader Sandrita is selling a Camille la Vie flower girl dress. It is satin and organza with delicate beading and bow detailing. It is girls size 7, pink, new, and never worn. She is asking for $80.

I’m doing a boudoir session with our photographer Lindsi, and making Mr. Lab a “little black book” with the images. And because I’ll be the guinea pig for Lindsi’s first boudoir session, I’m getting an awesome rate!
If you’ve never heard of boudoir photography before, think of it as a risque version of a bridal portrait session. It’s kind of like bridal pin-up. Depending on the bride’s level of exhibition, these photos can range from fully-clothed bridal lingerie, to nothing at all. I’m going with a classy middle ground.
It’s time for inspiration photos!
First up is traditional bridal boudoir. I’m definitely getting one set of lingerie all in white. Victoria’s Secret is going to love me in a few months. And I may have to get a “prop” veil for the occasion as well. Maybe I can borrow one from one of my married friends? *cough*Amanda*cough*Leslie*
I’ll have to add some red lipstick to up the ante on the white lingerie.
