It’s finally time to discuss the biggest wedding decision we had to make. In this post, you get to find out how our wedding became a non-wedding.
Mr. Mary Jane and I discussed marriage and wedding immensely in the weeks before and after the proposal. We found that we really had three options for how to celebrate our day:

Today we’re giving away a Kodak W1020 Wireless Digital Picture frame! They make great thank you gifts for your bridal party and family. What better way to thank them for participating in your wedding than giving them the ability to display memories from your big day? The frame is Wi-Fi enabled, so when you receive your wedding pictures from your photographer, you can automatically send them to the frames via your Kodak Gallery! It’s an amazing and easy way to treasure special memories and relationships!

To enter this contest, please comment below and let us know who you’d give your Kodak digital frame to. You have until midnight eST on tonight to enter. Good luck!
P.S. - You also still have time to enter our biggest contest ever - $1000, a new MacBook, and a copy of Office 2008 for Mac!

Today’s photo of the day was uploaded by kitty25kat25! Her handsome groom held up his-and-hers wedding rings for the camera!

We’re loving all of the recent uploads! Remember, your images must be under 5MB in size, or they won’t load to the gallery. Keep on loading your inspirational wedding pictures to the gallery for your chance to win this week’s prize, a 9-piece makeup set from Maybelline!
I must confess: Mr. Bruschetta and I love the Harry Potter books. We started reading the series after J.K. Rowling had already penned the first four volumes, and quickly became enthusiasts — even planning our vacation in 2005 around the release of the fifth tome, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
What’s this have to do with weddings?

I was torn on this whole toasting-thing. I had found a couple of viable options for toasting flutes on Etsy. They’re cute and would easily go with our theme… but I was feeling a little “meh” about them, and a little “meh” on whether or not we even needed to buy anything at all, or if we should just use whatever was placed in front of us.
But then Tina from With This Ring, I Obsess chimed in and shared she was going back and forth on this and was so glad she decided to do something special. I tracked back through her fabulous blog and found the great champagne glasses that she so cleverly personalized with charms from Paloma’s Nest (did I mention that I <3 it?!). Such a cute, clever idea, Tina!
After searching on Etsy… yet again, I was saved! I found this fabulous pair of platinum-rimmed vintage champagne glasses from Little Byrd Vintage. Oh, and did I mention that they were only $10?! I scooped them up immediately!

Once we found our venue, I knew right away that I wanted to decorate the outside walkway to invite people to take a break from the inside party to mingle outside.

I decided it would look lovely to either place candles along the walkway railing, or use them to decorate the cocktail tables we are going to place outside. I wanted to do something that was simple and not time consuming.

My knot.com checklist has been hounding me for the past two months. “Decide on the bridesmaid dress,” it says to me, staring me in the face. And I have. Then I haven’t. Then I have again. Nope, not the one. Then… this is how the cycle’s been over the past few months. My ever-obliging bridesmaids must be getting sick of my, “This dress is cute, right?” e-mails.
At first, I thought I could be really simple about it. Choose a fabric (silk chiffon) and a color (espresso) from J. Crew. Let the girls choose their style. I sent the girls to their respective J. Crews to gauge their sizes. And, I ordered a few of the dresses to try on myself.

Early on, we knew that finding a fly DJ for our wedding was one of the most important elements for us. Whenever we picture “the perfect party” (which is, after all, what a wedding should feel like to the couple of honor), we see a packed dance floor, sweaty faces, hands and feet flailing, singing along. So, one would think that it would be the first vendor we’d have booked, but nay, with less than 6 weeks to go, we still didn’t have our Spinner locked.
There were a few hindrances along the road: we have very eclectic taste and wanted a DJ who wouldn’t play “typical wedding music” all night. We also love mash-ups and were hoping to find a DJ who could blend old and new tunes to create unbearably danceable beats that would please all generations. Lastly, we wanted a DJ who could actually spin, mix and scratch (with real vinyl)—rather than just play a “playlist” of full-length songs all night.
We’d gotten a few recommendations, and had set up a few interviews, but we were starting to feel like finding “the one” was just a pipe dream. Then, late one night I was Googling around and was hit with the funkiest freshness I’ve heard in a while. I had found The Flashdance, and I was mesmerized!
For those of you wondering what my ring looks like, here it is!
It’s a 1.5 t.w. carat round cut center diamond surrounded by a halo and micro-pave band set in 14k white gold (we’re going to re-plate it in platinum on our 5 year anniversary) and it has a matching wedding band. I actually got to pick out my own ring! This was after a couple months of researching rings that fit Mr. Lab’s high standards and my very picky taste. ![]()

Mr. Quiche and I love to travel. We’ve had many awesome adventures together - be it Italy or NYC - so it’s only fitting that our honeymoon should follow suit. With the wedding in Jamaica, we are essentially going to be honeymooning, times 2. Yeah!
There were 3 major contenders vying for the spot of the Quiche Honeymoon, all very different, yet fabulous in their own way.
First up: Indonesia
Specifically, Bali. Ah yes, the magnificent isle of Bali. A place that Mr. Quiche and I have wanted to go to, yet haven’t been able to justify the expense (or time off) that it would require. What better way to see this beautiful part of the world than on your honeymoon? The Amankila Resort in Bali is breathtaking. We’ve had friends who’ve vacationed here and say it is the best hotel, hands down.

In true bridal form, I’ve changed the inspiration for our wedding cake a bit since my first little sketch. The reason for the change is simple: I found new cake-spiration that is just sooooo much prettier.

See what I mean? These cakes make a statement. They say, “look at me, I’m simple and pretty and modern and classy and perfect,” all at the same time. I didn’t know cakes could talk, but these three have spoken to me!

Way back in December, when I was going for my first round of dress hemming, I found a flower girl dress at the bridal shop that was handling my alterations.
The owner of the shop was trying to get rid of her inventory and had a lot of cute flower girl dresses on sale. She made each one herself. Since our flower girl was not with us, she let us take one of the dresses to try on our little elf, and bring it back at our leisure (nice, huh?).
My niece-to-be (i.e. Mr. P’s brother’s daughter) was barely four at the time. The dress was huge on her. It touched the floor and the arm holes were gigantic. Also, the shoulders were way too wide.

Despite all this, we weren’t worried because five months is a lifetime for a four year old in terms of growth.

Recently, the bridal attendants and I visited a salon to search for a matching dress that would complement the one the Bruschetta ’maids will be wearing. We selected a number of JLM Couture — Alvina Valenta, Jim Hjelm and Lazaro — bridesmaid dresses, but on the girls, none looked quite right. (Unfortunately, there were no samples of the three dresses I posted about previously.)
After eight frustrating fits, I suggested we try the Bruschetta ’maids Amsale dress. And… magic. Seriously. As trite as that may sound, the dress really did look amazing.
Despite how great it looked on everyone, I was hesitant to select the same dress for the bridal attendants (even if we did it in a different color), since they won’t be walking or standing with the bridal party during the wedding — wouldn’t it confuse our guests? But, Amsale Aberra — who I so want to hug right now! — had designed another knee-length, tissue taffeta dress that was equally flattering.
