Miss Fondue’s First Project

May 2nd, 2009 @ 4:45 pm by Ms Fondue

I know it’s been a while, and I promised you guys I’d share a few more of my projects. I’ve just recently (in the past month or so) been able to start reading about weddings again without getting all misty-eyed and, since this would have been our wedding weekend, I thought I would share one of the first projects that I did: our wedding website.

I actually started on our wedding website before the proposal (shh…), mainly because I wanted to make sure our domain name was available.

The main page of the site gave our guests some basic things that they could do. This included giving them instructions on where they could learn “Thriller” or what hotel to book rooms at.

The navigation bar provided links, so our guests could learn how we met, our engagement story, and all those other usual little items you find on wedding websites. I won’t bore you with showing all these pages, but you can see that the navigational buttons had a drop-down menu to provide more choices. (The “Photos” link went to our Shutterfly page.)

The real meat of the site was the RSVP section, which I am kind of sad that I never got to really use. Guests would have been provided with log in information on their RSVP cards in the invitations. If one had lost their card for whatever reason, they would be able to look it up by entering their email address (although that link had not yet been added in the screenshot below).

Then they would be able to select if each person in their party would be attending or not, and, if so, what their meal choice was. Children had some extra options, such as if they would need a highchair.

Then, with my special administrative log in, I could see lists of our guests and who was attending or not.

I also provided a helpful summary at the bottom of the page to make things easier on myself.

I loved our wedding website, and it was one of the items that I put the most work into, so I really wanted to share it with you guys. I hope someone finds it a little inspirational! I don’t have any templates or anything to share, because I did all of the design and coding by hand, but let me know if you have any questions.

Also, I know a few of you were wanting to know my personal blog, so if anyone wants to follow me over there, the address is www.sweetvenus.org. I miss you all!

Your website was fantastic and you are so brave and wonderful for sharing this on such a tough weekend.
I wish I was talented enough to make our website this custom!

We love you Miss Fondue! I was totally inspired by your shutterfly page for the photos and made one of my own.

This website rocks! What’s the name of the font you used for the headers/footers on each page?

Wow! What did you create your wedding website in?? We’re planning to do online only RSVPs, and that is the most AMAZING RSVP log I’ve ever seen!

I love all the RSVP options, especially the way to deter uninvited tag-alongs. Thank you very much for sharing.

Thanks for the compliments! It’s been taken offline now, but I thought some of you all might appreciate it. :)

@fabulouslyengaged and @Gilneas: I didn’t use anything but notepad and my fingers. I dabble in web design and PHP coding, so none of it was done using any external programs.

@backyardwed: The font is Feel Script. :)

Love the website. It’s good to hear from you. I’ve thought about you on quite a few occasions since your invitations were such an inspiration to me. I am almost done making mine. Here’s a link to my blog and a photo of my invitations. http://samashwedding09.blogspot.com/2009/01/invitation-pt-1.html

Thanks so much for the inspiration!
