The Cheesiest Thing At A Wedding

May 4th, 2009 @ 12:47 pm by Mrs. Lovebird

Isn’t this cake beautiful?

Can you believe it’s made of cheese??? Miss D’orsay mentioned these in her post a couple of weeks ago. The trend started a few years ago in England, and is becoming quite popular in the U.S.

Here’s a helpful diagram I found from this U.K. cheese shop.

CheeseCake

Depending on the cheeses you use, you could save money over the conventional baked wedding cake. Let’s say you already have a dessert bar at your wedding. Serving this would be a nice contrast, don’t you think? I love me some good brie at a wedding.

Have you been to a wedding where the couple has had an unusual wedding cake? Would you ever consider a wedding cake made out of cheese?

I so wanted this very early in our planning — and thought it would look so cute decorated with fruit (which, of course, would be perfect accompaniments to the cheese!).

Ha! If I show this to Mr. Peaches, it WILL be our wedding cake. He is a cheese addict.

I would be really nervous about potential smells since we are having an outdoor reception in August, it’s one thing if the cake melts - another if it’s cheese!!
On the other hand, I heart cheese with my whole self and my mouth is watering just looking at it!

I think this is just a fabulous idea!!! We love cheese for dessert and do not like cake! This would have been perfect, but our guests would have protested (I think).

If we went this route, my only fear would be pun-loving fools joking about me and the mister “cutting the cheese.” ;-)

I love this idea and it’s been on my “want!” list for a while now. I’m a cheese girl I guess.

It will have to be in addition to the wedding cake, though, because I can already hear my dad making jokes about us “cutting the cheese” (groan.)

Also, my fiance LOVES grapes so what a great way to feature them?

DO NOT TELL MY FIANCE ABOUT THIS.

Well, I guess I could, ’cause we can’t bring any food into our venue.

Engagement party cheese cake, anyone?

wow what a creative idea! i’m not sure if i would do cheese… me and my b/f might want a video game themed one… if it’s in our budget but right now it looks like a wedding cake from safeway ^_^ haha hopefully our parents will pull through for us and give us a bit of money.

MY kind of cake! Great idea to use this cake if you’re already serving some other kind of dessert… that never occured to me! I would def. prefer cheese over real cake :)

I think my family would just get really confused and ask me what the heck I was thinking. I love cheese…sadly, FI doesn’t. Perhaps for a swanky dinner party!

Yumm!! I should totally do this! There are more than enough delicious cheeses in France to make a cake! Although I think everyone’s breath would definitely suffer…To the point where all conversation may come to a grinding halt!

O…. M … G!!!!

I totally [heart] cheese, especially a good blue stilton. Then again, I also [heart] cake a lot too.

What a great idea! Don’t think Mr. Editrix would be down with it, though … I’m definitely the cheese lover in our household.

I vote cheese over cake. I’m pro-cheese. Cake is good, but cheese is…cheese!

My sweet tooth would never allow me to pick a cheese-cake over a cake-cake at our wedding or any other day of the week. ;)
Great idea for all the cheese lovers though!

I LOVE cheese, but my guests would be totally disappointed (besides my MOH, she loves cheese as much as me). And, I don’t think the FI would be in love with the idea. Great idea for the perfect bride, though!

I could do a cheesecake wedding cake!
