About Mrs. Cheese

Yes, I’m a PowerPoint Nerd

May 5th, 2009 @ 11:19 am by Mrs. Cheese

With less than 30 days to go, I could no longer ignore the “what time?” questions: “What time should I be there?” “What time will they be there?” “What time will it end?” “How long will it take?” Nothing makes me feel less in control than not knowing where the pieces fit into the big picture, so during an interminable conference call, I half-*ssed a wedding day overview slide in PowerPoint. Yes, PowerPoint. Yes, a Wedding Day Slide. Shut up, it made me feel better.

Yes, I’m a PowerPoint Nerd : wedding schedule 1 weddingdayoverview

I started with Mrs. Daffodil’s wedding work plan file, then customized away. Now I can see who will be where and for how long all day long… and then maybe I won’t have to answer questions on our wedding day.

But what about people who can’t read charts (I hear they exist)? Voila!

Yes, I’m a PowerPoint Nerd : wedding schedule 21 weddingdaybyrole

Each role gets their own timeline column (which I obviously haven’t finished… I had to participate in the conference call at that point). I’ll do one more slide with a weekend event list and contact info next. Whew. Relief.

Anyone else nerding out on their wedding day prep?

Oh man, I love your org skills! My employer is switching to a summer work schedule — Fridays off in exchange for a bit longer hours each other work day — in a few weeks, and I’ll hopefully be able to use my time productively to get myself in order with stuff like time tables and contact lists!

you should see my budget spread sheet. I have calculations for our net costs including estimated wedding gifts based on the number of people who come.

Oooh I need to do this, I’m pretty anxious about the “day-of” timeline. I think this might be the perfect project for Mr. Beagle: he loves spreadsheets, graphs, excel, etc. :)

My fiancé thinks organized charts like this are crazy!

… so I’m going to make one, and not tell him! ;)
He feels more comfortable when things just “flow”, but he doesn’t quite get that things flow when they’re planned properly. What his cute little self doesn’t know won’t hurt him.

Thanks for resurrecting the templates!

@Miss Perfume…. my geek FI actually asked for a gant chart of our schedule. Apparently my excel one didn’t have the overlap shown correctly!

I HATE MS PROJECT. In fact, I avoid using it if at all possible. Luckily, I’m not in a project management role anymore. Ugg.

@Liz: Monterey BT, which I used on my invites. If you find that post (I think it was titled, “Good Riddance”), the link to the free font is there somewhere.

I love it! I was starting to use excel, but power point is so much better! Thanks for sharing, that way the rest of us don’t have to start from scratch. I am totally going to use it!
