Love Again: Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour gave guests time to mingle and search the escort card trees for their seats. It also gave Mr. Pineapple and I the opportunity to sneak downstairs where hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a few minutes alone were awaiting us.

I love this photo of my grandfather and Mr. Pineapple’s dad, because although Mr. P and I were not there, I can imagine exactly what they were talking about. My grandfather, a man of epic stories, was probably telling FIL P. about the many weddings he attended, only briefly, to deliver the beautiful cakes my grandmother used to make.

Sister Pineapple played the role of videographer throughout the night. One of my favorite parts of the video was the cocktail hour. She went around to all of the guests and asked them who the prettiest bridesmaid was. Of course, since she was the one asking, everyone said, “Oh, you Kristina!” Then she went up to Kim and Lindsay and said, “I have been asking everyone who the prettiest bridesmaids were and everyone has said you two!”

Mom Pineapple also got a hold of the video camera a couple times throughout the evening. Much of her video is of herself, holding the camera upside down and eating giant pixie sticks. She is an artist.

Mr. Pineapple and I rejoined our guests with just enough time to say hello to everyone and hear the story of the prettiest bridesmaid before introductions.

Will you be visiting with guests after the ceremony or will you wait for the reception introductions?

We’re planning the timeline so we can be there for cocktail hour — I don’t want to miss the amazing food we have planned, or the venue in which it’ll take place (the Betsy Ross courtyard, right next door to our reception location).

We love the cocktail hour we have planned so we’ll be joining our guests for the majority of it. :)
We have yummy hors d’ oeuvres, a jazz band, and our signature cocktails that we couldn’t bear to miss out on.

Holy crap, you just reminded me of Pixie stixx, I have betrayed one of my favorites… I can’t believe I’ve forgotten pixie stixx for my wedding so far. *Hangs head in shame.*

I love love love the image of the Dad and Grandfather. I love storytelling from older family members. I appreciate the stories and think they’re sweet, even on the 100th time I’ve heard them. :) What a sweet moment.

I love the flower in your sisters hair!!

I don’t know how we’re going to work it yet, that’s on the list of things to do this summer (it keeps getting longer and longer)

I love the flower in your sister’s hair… and she *is* very pretty - what a cute story :)
We’re not sure if we’ll join the cocktail hour or not… we’re still figuring that all out.

We have yet to decide if we’ll be joining for the cocktail hour or not, as well. It’ll be hard to pass up on good food!

It looks like you had a nice cocktail hour. We’re considering doing ours different. We’re having cocktails BEFORE the wedding and both being there to greet our guests as they arrive (we’re doing a reveal for pictures before that).

I think it’s awesome that the video camera got passed around and was manned by one of your BMs. I think I’m going to do the same thing, since we don’t have a videographer! Thanks for the idea :)

My brother is the freedeographer, but I hope he gets a break by passing around the camera! How cute that it was upside down for your mom!

we’re going to visit with our guests at the church after the ceremony, but not have a receiving line.

The videoing is too cute! I think we are going to ask my uncle to do some freedeographing for us

I love the escort card tree: how did you do it and where did you get your branches?
