100 Days Out…

May 8th, 2009 @ 2:30 pm by Mrs. Gloss

100 Days Out... : wedding flowers hair menus 100coun
We are officially 100 days out… yikes! While a lot of the big stuff is done, there are a few things looming over my head that have yet to be touched.

1. Florist - I’m not really concerned about centerpieces, since we are just doing single stems in these vases. (Seems pretty easy to DIY right?) Bouquets are another item all together. I think I am waaay too anal to be able to pull these together myself and have them look acceptable. I’ve been procrastinating on this since none of the florists in the area have websites (which is how I have done a majority of my research) and I haven’t been back to Maine since Christmas.

2. Menu - We have not yet told our caterer what she will be cooking for the big day because we haven’t been able to decide. Although, since we are having a buffet, the information doesn’t need to be printed on the RSVP cards, so I think it can wait a little longer.

3. Hairstylist (and hairstyle, for that matter) - My hair is naturally very curly and I’m really nervous about the heat in August. Plus, I don’t know of any great stylists in the area where we are getting married, and am really nervous that I’ll end up with ’80s prom hair.

4. Honeymoon - We have gotten nowhere with this one, due to the hurricane season/swine flu combo. This one is on Mr. Gloss’ plate.

What was left on your list at 100 days out?

Oh man. We’ll hit the 100 day mark soon, and I hope to have a smaller to-do list than we’ve got now!

Ah! Hair! My wedding is 8/1 so I know EXACTLY where you are coming from.

A few weeks ago I booked a trial at one of the top salons in our area…and I walked out of there with a frizzy ball on top of my head, with pieces of hair that he “curled” with a curling iron on top of the frizz. Within five minutes, those “curled” pieces were straightened, leaving me looking like an alien.

I totally want to wear my hair curly for the wedding since that’s my “look.” I’ve been doing research with other brides around, and managed to find another really good stylist who I am going to see tomorrow. I wish we lived in the same area, we could help eachother out!

@Miss Gloss: Sister Bruschetta’s wasn’t doing it for you anymore? I could ask what HER inspirations were…or feel free to PM her yourself! :-)

While your hair might frizz - mine NEVER holds curl. Only once in my life have I had luscious curls for more than a few hours. (Very expensive hairspray…) So I think I’ll have the opposite problem. How can I get my stick-straight hair to do SOMETHING besides play dead?

And I hate when vendors don’t have websites!

we’re at 93 days left and the big ones remaining are:

1) honeymoon (ahhhhh!)
2) hair/makeup
3) rings
4) alterations
5) programs
6) vows

i loved the 100 day mark. I just passed the 50 and I can’t hardly believe it!

Time didn’t start going fast until after this mark–so hold on to your hat…it’s soon going to be crunch time!

I think we have the same wedding date! I have curly hair too, and I need to start experimenting. you should take a look at this website - I already started using some of these methods and have seen a huge improvement already.

I was just going to say that I thought Sister Bruschetta had great curly hair at her wedding. Then I felt weird that I knew/remembered that. Then Miss B said it first.

Maybe this salon’s site can help with inspiration?

@gooseling: Thanks for the tips!
@Miss French Bulldog: Don’t worry - that was the EXTREMELY abridged version of MAJOR items!
@jmc: THANKS - that is so cool, a place dedicated to curly hair gals? who knew!

I’m at a little under 100 Days! I went a little crazy trying to get the remainders of the little items and my DIY list completed. I kinda feel like my DIY list is growing.

You are doing good. Most people don’t pick their menu until they get closer to the date…

Oh how I feared 80s prom hair as well. I was so lucky to have a new realtive who does hair agree to save the day and be my stylist. I have wavey hair and I truly believe that my mop has a mind of its own! I had my pulled back in a low messy bun and let my natural waves do their thing. Sticking with what my hair does naturally was the best thing for me!
