Mrs. Cowboy Boot's Picture
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa Fe Age and Occupation: 25, Magazine Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting Guide Engagement Date: April 28th, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2009 Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, Colorado About Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Yesterday’s post gave you a little rundown on my flower inspiration. But, like I said, my florist was wary of the soft pink and ivory palette meshing with my tendency to gravitate towards peaches. She also mentioned that we’d have to replace the spring blooms with similar fall flowers.

So, here’s our plan with side-by-side (or one on top of the other) images of the spring bloom originally used versus the fall bloom we hope to replace it with (and few options). The colors are not exactly on par with what we’re planning, but close.

As an addition to the flowers above, we’re going to lisianthus, which looks like this:

And we’re going to be able to use the Peach Hypericum Berries that are in the original spring version. You can see them in this bouquet:

The bridesmaids will have similar bouquets, but with carnations instead of garden roses (thanks to my budget), and white dahlias instead of peach ones. Their bouquets will actually be more white overall, with touches of peach, while mine will be the opposite. Although, I may decide to go more white in the end. We’ll see.

Did you have to replace blooms you wanted due to seasonality? Or did you luck out and get the flowers you wanted in the first place?

You’ve got a few of my fave picks in your “fall” pile — ranunculus and dahlia — and now that I’ve seen the Juliet Garden Rose, I’m crushing big-time. When is this beauty in season? And, if you don’t mind my asking, is it pricey?

I love it!
I’m leaning towards the soft/whimsical flowers also - thanks for providing a cheat sheet for fall versions of spring flowers!

These flowers are great. I haven’t quite figured out my flowers yet, so I might use these fall flowers for some inspiration!

Wow, you did a great job finding Fall blooms that were similar to your Spring faves.

My wedding will be in June, so I had to give up on the lilacs & irises I wanted to use. But I’ll have calla lilies & hydrangeas instead. :-)

Hopefully I’ll be able to get some spring beauties that aren’t too pricey. But your spring replacements are beautiful! I love the ranunculus and I never really knew what lisianthus was but they’re really pretty too!

I’m doing peach flowers too!
But, my bridesmaids will have all peach and I”ll have all white. We’re doing a mixture of garden roses, dahlias and cala lillies. Great choices!

YAY! Thanks for the cheatsheet. I should just email the link of your post to my florist, haha. According to the list they already gave me, I’m having dahlias, ranunculus, lisanthus, and garden roses, along with those berries. So basically I’m missing the snapdragon/larkspur. :-)

Thanks for posting this! I love the Juliet garden roses instead of peonies which will be totally out of season for our fall wedding!!!!

I’m using peonies in my bouquet, but I couldn’t afford them for everyone (I only have 6 maids), so we’re using garden roses in the maids bouquets and Mini’s kissing ball is going to be made of carnations. And I love love love rananculous!

we used all local (and seasonal) flowers, so we didn’t have a ton of selection. We told our florist just to go with whatever she thought would look best. it worked out excellently.

They are going to look awesome! We’re doing silk flowers so I can choose to use whatever I want which is awesome. We got about 10 different kinds of flowers so we’ll see what we come up with and actually use
