About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Hive Knows Best

May 9th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Hive, I need help with a decision. After that last flower post, I had a sudden change of heart. I get a little uneasy when this happens, because then I’m suddenly heading down a path that involves lots of back-and-forth with my vendor. In this instance, my florist. And I hate to seem flighty and indecisive—It doesn’t do anyone any good.

But, the feeling I got was so intense, I can’t ignore it. I started thinking that maybe I want more cream or white in my bouquet with hints of peach, instead of having an all-peach bouquet with touches of cream, which was my original plan. I am worried that the bouquet will disappear into my dress if it is too creamy, and white will be too stark against ivory. But, now I’m thinking the peach bouquet might not seem classic in 30 years. If I go cream and white, I can use a colored ribbon to add pop. Or, vice-versa, if I go for colored flowers. Give me your vote!

Peaches with pops of whites and creams, wrapped with leftover ivory fabric and a little raffia:

Sources: Juliet Rose, Lisianthus, Dahlia, Hypericum Berries, Larkspur, Ranunculus, and Stock.

Mostly white, with pops of peach and apricot, wrapped with peachy ribbon and raffia:

Additional Sources: Larkspur, Ranunculus, Stock

Here are a few inspiration photos of mostly white bouquets with bursts or tinges of color:

So, which do you like better? Option 1: mostly peaches with bursts of white? Or Option 2: White or cream with pops of peach or apricot? Or, should I mix up the color variation differently, or do different specific flowers in peach or cream?

I had a similar battle going on in my head. I decided that I wanted a little color with my dress and that the girls who are wearing color should have mostly cream bouquets. I really love your peach inspiration pieces too!

definitely peach. it will still be classic, it’s not like you’re going with neon orange and fuschia!

though I love those colors too :)

Option 2!!!! I love how simple, understated yet bright & happy at the same time.
I think your concern about the white on ivory will turn out to be minimal. You aren’t going to be carrying your bouquet the whole time… and of the pictures you take I think the contrast will bring depth and a refreshing color variant.
That is what I think… But I tend to like smaller daintier flowers so this might be more a personal preference screaming out. ;o)

I love the mostly peach inspiration photos, and definitely think peach would stand out better against your dress.

Plus, from what I can see in that tiny profile pic, the peach would look absolutely gorgeous with your coloring.

Option 1 seems more you and if you are worried about it not being classic enough don’t worry, I’m sure it will be because peach has such an antique feeling.

My vote is for whites and creams with pops of peach and a colored ribbon! :)
I’m biased because I’m going with mostly creams in my bouquets but I love that looks! Some of my favorite weddings that I’ve seen online have mostly white/cream bouquets and I think it’s timeless. :)
However, both options really are beautiful!

Go for color! Most features of my wedding are vintage and timeless, but I want lots of beautiful color in my bouquet.

I’m going to go along with Miss Crab Cake- more peach for you, to pop with your dress, and more white for the girls. It would be a nice combination, I think. :)

I vote for option two, mostly creams with pops of peach (and a colorful ribbon)! I think the look is more classic and is just beautiful. And I would do option one for BM bouquets. ;)

But, in the end, you should go with your gut because whatever you love now you will love in 30 years!

Miss CB, you don’t need to second guess yourself! ;)
I love the peaches with bursts of white. Really, the bouquet I think is the most beautiful here is the 2nd one from “peach bouquet inspiration”.

To be honest, I like them both. I know that’s no help in you choosing, but I think they are both elegant and lovely enough that they won’t look dated OR disappear into your dress. So, whichever one you choose, please don’t worry about it being “wrong”. Just go with what you love! (or what the hive says :P)

I think how classic it remains may be determined more by the types of flowers you use and not necessarily the colors. I love option one, peach with pops of white. So gorgeous!

I don’t think either way will really matter. My favorite bouquet out of all of them is the first mostly white one - it’s beautiful.

For another peach inspriation - check out Martha Stewart peach flower pictures on the wedding site. There is one there that you will LOVE!

I did have the same thought as you… and was originally going to have all white with hints of peach. I decided to keep it simple and just go all white. No color - not even my ribbon! I went back and forth for a while… but I’m sticking with that decision.
Good luck!

I’m a big fan of your second option — white/cream with peach is somewhat classic, butt also unexpected and unique!

I like the second option most: cream with bits of peach. However, I really do think either one will look gorgeous! All your inspiration photos are beautiful.

Option 2, with a strong focus on pictures 2 and 3. Although I’m bias because those are my inspiration photos too!!

You could always do the strong peach one option 1 for your bridesmaids and take a few photos holding one of their bouquets so you get pictures with both :) sneaky huh? That’s what I’ve got planned

Peach. I have a red-headed daughter. Everything pales in comparison to her hair. Peach flowers will up the level of color around you to meet your hair. There you go.

Peach for sure! I think it looks classic, feminine and timeless. But even if it isn’t in vogue in twenty years…isn’t part of the fun of looking back at old photos thinking, “What was I thinking!?”

mostly peach. and i don’t think it wouldn’t be un-classic! how abt you go out and buy a bunch / try holding a bunch of flowers (or faux flowers) mixed in those color combinations and have pictures taken?

so you can see how it looks with YOU holding it.
oh, and maybe wear a white dress when doing so.

Go with what you are drawn to and not worry about what will look classic in 20 years. Nothing ever does. Strapless dresses and all those sashes that people think are classic? Nope, not a bit, the huge puffy dresses of the 80’s, classic? nope not a bit.

If you love it now, you will be able to look back 20-30 years from now and recognize how much you loved it at the time, no matter whether it’s classic or not.

Your wedding is about a single day in time, what the wedding symbolizes is what needs to be classic and last a life time.

Either way, your bouquet will be gorgeous, all your samples are fabulous!

I don’t think you should be concerned about whether it’ll be classic. Go with your gut.

I am torn about what I want, too. I think it’s natural to go back and forth, especially with all of the eye candy out there!

My vote is peach!! I originally thought I wanted a white/cream bouquet but I don’t want them to not show against my dress.

I totally hear you on making sure your decisions are classic ones. But I have to tell you, my favourite pics from my parents’ wedding in 1975 are of my dad’s light grey tuxedo and ruffled shirt. It’s SO 70s! I am trying to make decisions that I will look back on and still love. But if they’re not still popular, it won’t bother me.

I think you are my secret twin. :) I got married last night ( YAY!) & had so many of the same ideas/touches as you are considering!! My bouquet was 20 ivory peonies with about 10 peach/coral garden roses, and pearls fastening some of the closed peonies and roses– it was the most beautiful, classic bouquet I’ve ever seen, and tied in the bridesmaid dresses perfectly. Although I may be a little biased. :) My husband loved it. :)

im liking the last bouquet with the antique “y” creme’s and peaches. i think a bouquet with this color pallet will work the best for you. the look is timeless. your not exaggerating one color over the other, your doing a blend of the two. all white i feel sounds too boring for you, and mostly peach screams too loud. keep it neutral when you can’t decide, you will definitely be happy with the outcome. try sahara roses and white anemones. i’ll post some images for you on my blog, if your interested! good luck, kristie
