About Mrs. Gloss

Thank You USPS…

May 9th, 2009 @ 2:55 pm by Mrs. Gloss

My mom is coming into town this weekend to help me finish up the invitations, so I went out and purchased stamps this morning. I brought a mock-up of our invite to the post office and had them weight it, because I had an inkling our invites might weight more than 1 oz., which would require extra postage… and I was right. :( While I was there, I snatched up some of the forever stamps for our RSVP envelopes, since they will go up in price on Monday, and checked out the options for 2 oz. stamps after the price increase.

Every cloud has a silver lining, right? If our invitations didn’t weigh so much, I wouldn’t be able to use this super cute new ‘wedding’ stamp without feeling frivolous throwing extra money away on stamps.

Mmmm…cake…

I’m pretty excited to pop this bad boy onto our invites – I was so over the heart stamp.

They also have some other new ‘wedding’ designs that are quite cute:

So, thank you United States Postal Service, for getting some decent wedding stamps for those of us who cannot fit Zazzle custom stamps into our budgets! :)

Are you excited about the new stamp designs, even though they are two cents more?

I bought the ugly yellow heart stamps. The wedding cake ones are so much prettier!

Thank you for posting. I’ve been debating if it was worth the extra money to buy from Zazzle. We only need to send out about 50 invites (some will be hand delivered) so it’s not that budget breaking for us, but it is good to know that there are pretty options!

I love these stamps!! I’m planning on buying some too. I’m totally excited and I can’t wait until I get my invites so I can go to the post office and weight them and purchase some stamps. I agree with the forever stamps for the rsvp’s.

I really like the King and Queen stamps, too. If I hadn’t already invested in vintage stamps, I would SO use those!

Those cake stamps are so cute!! I think I like Frank and Bette better for my invites, but definitely going after those stamps for our rehearsal dinner invitations!

I wish I could have used the king and queen ones… but alas my wedding has come and gone. I’m now on to Thank Yous and I created postcards but I don’t really like the fruit postage. Is there going to be another option for postcard stamps that anyone knows of?

I love the King and Queen of Hearts. I have always had a little obsession with cards anyway. I love the designs of old cards.

Thanks for posting about this. I didn’t know that they came out with new wedding stamps. I’m so excited, our return envelopes and invitations are cream so the cake stamp would fit perfectly!

I was so disappointed with the ugly yellow heart stamp. I longed for the cake, but they just couldnt seem to sell them to me a month ago. I was also super annoyed about the forever stamps- they are ugly. I can’t wait to use the king and queen for my thank yous this summer.

I used the ugly heart stamps for my invites LOL. I was trying to buy some forevers for Thank You notes and the postal worker showed me the ring stamps. I was so stoked about how cute they were! :) Not that stamps really matter, but hey, I like cute stuff too! I’m a little bummed I couldn’t use the cake ones for my invites, but ah well!

I just went to the post office today to figure out what postage was going to cost for my invites, and I got an unpleasant surprise. My invites are too wide to be considered for the normal first class rates…I have to use the flat letter rate or whatever. So instead of $.61…they will be $1.05 each!!! And of course, the post office doesn’t have cute wedding stamps that are $1.05. I’m going to have to use two of the wedding stamps to add up to the right postage. I didn’t realize that they had come out with a king and queen of hearts…if they come in the $.44 and $.61 I can use both and it wouldn’t look too crazy! Thanks for the post!

!! I just had to buy my stamps today, too, and I was not given the option of the cute king and queen or wedding band stamps!! All they had were the cake ones– they’re kinda cute, though I’m not exactly a fan of the scrollwork…Fits our color scheme, though!

I love the wedding cake design. I used them for my invites last week. They look modern. I’m not a fan of the King & Queen design at all… has a religious feel to it?

Yup, I was debating on buying forever stamps, but since I won’t need THAT many, I’ll wait and get the ring stamps since they fit much better then the bells

@Piccateer: I didn’t know there was a thickness requirement! Yikes, they didn’t check that when I was there - my invites are pretty thick, hopefully I’m okay!!

I tried and tried to make the King and Queen of Hearts work for our invites. We love them. Unfortunately, we’re over the 1oz mark, too. However, the Heart Royal familly will grace the presence of our RSVPs…so all isn’t lost.

I LOVE the King and Queen stamps. Our reception site is a historic building called a Casino, so we’re playing up the whole casino thing with playing cards as the placecards, etc. So these stamps totally fit for us! And they’re cute, too! Woohoo.

I love these! I have seen Zazzle before and we even used them once for a couple with their wedding picture for their thank you notes. But these are soooooo cute for the wedding invitation!

Oh goodness, I hadn’t seen these yet. I love them, so cute! I already bought all my postage (forever stamps) so that I wouldn’t have to pay more when the rate went up. Now keeping them at that rate will be changeling!

Custom Wedding Postage

The new stamps do look nice, but there’s a word of warning that brides should know…with these regular post office stamps, they put all those wavy lines of big black ink all over the design or photo when they cancel them.

For some reason, that doesn’t happen with the larger size customizable stamps. I think it has something to do with the bar code on the custom wedding postage stamps.
