Mother’s Day!

May 11th, 2009 @ 2:52 pm by Mrs. Perfume

My mother, Mr. P and I went to FMIL’s for Mother’s Day. There, we celebrated with a nice lunch of ham and Champagne and toasted to our wonderful mothers and Mr. P’s SIL (who is the mother of our flower girl and ring bearer).

It felt so warm and happy, and it was a lovely day. The sun was shining as we laughed, chatted, and ate out on the deck. My mother and FILs have met on several occasions, but these past few get-togethers have brought them so much closer together. Everyone gets along, and I’m grateful for that.

And while I already feel like part of the family, it was a little more validated when FSIL explained to our ring bearer and flower girl that “Miss P” will be “Auntie P” in a few weeks!!

Are the littlest ones in your life calling you by a new name after you get married?

It will be interchangeable between aunt april or tia april…since his nephews are fluent in spanish and english…it depends on what kind of mood they’re in when they speak to him whether they call him uncle or tio.

his niece and nephew have only known me as Aunt M since we’ve been together basically since his nephew was a baby. I still can’t wait for it to be official though, especially since there are no kiddos on my side yet :)

That’s a gorgeous deck! Are you already an aunt in your family yet? I think it would be great fun to be an aunt!

I am actually known to two of my future nieces as Ms. *** because I am their school teacher. (They and their mother set us up on a blind date.) They are going back and forth with my new Aunt CC name and Ms. ***. What is going to happen next year when I will be Mrs. New Name, Aunt CC and Ms. ***? Everyone will be confused!

my 6 year old niece(to-be) introduces me to her friends as her “sorta aunt” and adds, “but she’ll be my REAL aunt soon, cos they’re getting MARRIED!”.

i think she’ll still call me by name though :)

Actually….Mini Quiche J ran up to me right after the ceremony and yelled “HI MOM!” and then ran away. Hmm…not sure what to make of that!

They are VERY excited to be official cousins of my niece and nephew though!
