AMAZING! This is incredble!! We would love to have this because right now we are using a very old PC at our house which we share. It takes about 15 minutes for the machine to power up so I do most of my computer related things at work (shhhh don’t tell!!) This would help tremendously in finding the perfect accents for our wedding, planning with a budgeter, and posting more on wedding bee!!!!
Wowee! This would be great to help with all aspects of planning, but especially designing invitations! And I could really use a new Mac… by old Macbook has all there mysterious black spots on the bottom, like it is slowly self-destructing from the inside! Yikes!

This would be incredible! I know that Macs are the way to go for grqaphic design, something I am anxious to try my hand at with invitations, save the dates, table numbers, etc. Not to mention that this would be ideal for helping me to get through grad school before the wedding - what a load of stress off that would be! I need need this mac because without my own computer at home, it’s impossible to look at weddingbee all the time or to find inspiration online! Also, Microsoft Office is the greatest to do all the last minute organizational work. Love it!

Awesome! I’m newly engaged and planning to fully DIY all my invitations, STDs, menus, programs and more! That being said, I’ve never actually done this stuff, lol, but I’m so excited to try! I just got my requisite Gocco off Ebay, and would really love to convert to a Mac since it’s so good for design! (I’ve been a PC girl all my life, and I think it’s time for a change!)
I am a total MAC convert and right now my fiance is getting just a little tired of me stealing his laptop to do all of my wedidng stuff! This would be fabulous

Speaking of school, in undergrad I learned how to use photoshop and Quark Xpress. I loved the software and know I could make gorgeous stuff for the wedding with it. However, paying for grad school has made a mac cost prohibitive and put the Quark software package out of the question. A mac is on the list of things I want to buy after the wedding, but before the wedding I could design gorgeous things and save some serious money!

I am a self proclaimed tech geek. I have ALWAYS wanted a MAC but couldn’t afford one. This won’t just help me with the wedding but for many years after as well.
I fell in love with mac in college, after I decided to switch my major to Media Arts and Design. I went through almost a year of mac “bootcamp”-learning all the products and features. I haven’t been able to afford a new mac since, and have always wanted to continue my passion for design. And what better time than now, with an upcoming diy budget 2010 wedding!! I would love to win, for so many reasons. (1) I am a law student (read I use my computer for everything from taking notes, to exams, to wedding planning), and my computer is one trip away from conking out on me (too may trips in my back pack plus lots of use= the screen has funny lines in it, and stuff). (2) My fiance and I are both graduate students paying for our own wedding, so money isn’t something we have an abundance of, so if my computer does conk out on me and FI and I are forced to share a computer, that might be really bad for our relationship. (3) I LOVE Macs. I think they are fantastic. (4) Macs are great for graphics, and I want to design everything from invitations to programs, so a Mac would be inffinitely helpful.
Because I think we could basically plan our whole wedding using a MAC from invitation design, to music, to charts, to website design and then a place to store all our wonderful pictures. It is the whole package. This is an amazing contest!!
My computer is almost dead - I’m scared to turn it off, because what if it never turns on again! I know that a mac is the way to go with the next computer, if only I could afford one. The slow/dying computer is making it very difficult to plan the wedding and read blogs like these (and then there’s always the non-wedding work that I should be doing..) I would be so over-the-moon happy if I were to win this giveaway. I have been a Mac lover ever since first using one in my college video editing course in 2002. However, we dont have the $$ to purchase one of our own. My fiance and I currently share a 10 year old Dell that is slower than a turtle, and surpsingly still booting! It only has 256MB of RAM!!! Needless to say this would be an amzing help during my last few months of wedding planning and even after. I’m a photographer trying to break out on my own and this gift package would help me out tremendously with my startup, being that all the money I have currently is going towards our wedding!! Best contest ever! My MAC is about to break any day now, and were just trying to get it through our wedding coming up in 2 weeks. However, I wanted to help other brides with invitations, escort cards, etc. and start my own little business, so this would be major for me!

Wow, what a contest! I could use this prize because I am a 3rd year graduate student who will graduate in 2010. My current laptop is from from way back in my undergrad days and is riddled with viruses, has spots on the screen, keys that stick (My “colon” key doesn’t work so if I want to make a smiley face I have to copy and paste the eyes- ugh!), is a pro at shutting down at inopportune times, and has way outdated software. I just haven’t been able to afford or justify a new computer just yet. It would sure help to be able to enter the professional world after graduation with a new computer that doesn’t add another bill to the student loans I will be paying back. Not to mention all of the ways I could use the new software for my own wedding planning and upcoming weddings in late 2009 and throughout 2010 where I will be a bridesmaid. My friend would love me even more if I could use my new computer to make her save-the-dates!

What amazing timing! We’re actually sending out our computer for repairs today. The Mister’s computer died last year and we’ve relied on mine for everything from schoolwork to wedding planning to the everyday photo and music tasks. It’s scary to send away your computer (which we rely on for everything) not knowing when it will be returned to you, or if it will be fixed even then.
I have heard nothing but phenomenal reviews on Macs from all my musician and artist friends who use them every day - and we would be so ecstatic to have one of our own! Not to mention the convenience of this computer being a laptop. I’m an excel addict, and coupling the computer giveaway with the microsoft package is a great idea - fingers crossed that we can win!
How wonderful! And it’s so timely. My Mac, which endured law school, 2 moves and a masters degree, that has 5+ years worth of pictures on it is DEAD. So dead that the screen is cracked (whoops!) and hardly turns on. The devastating parts are that we 1) can’t afford a new computer 2)have all of the music to make the playlist for our wedding on that MAC and 3) can’t get to A-N-Y of my pictures to make the blurb books we were planning on for our bridal party. Sorry for the sob story but this computer is wildly NEEDED!!!!!!!!

as both me and my fiancee are physics graduate students, we spend 80% of our waking hours on our laptops. his is on its last legs, and i’ve been trying to get him to get a mac (like mine) so that we can share more files and have fewer compatibility problems. also, it’d be awesome for all of his work. however, as grad students, we don’t have enough money to get a new computer, let alone a mac. this would be INCREDIBLE for not only doing wedding stuff (which it is necessary for), but also for doing our every-day work-related activities. microsoft office is necessary for everything we do - a couple of presentations a month, several applications and proposals each semester… it’s just necessary. plus, i’m designing all of our own paper (invitations, thank-you notes, etc), so this would be perfect.

I love how many parts there are to this giveaway! I would use the $1000 gift card to spend on our honeymoon or maybe alleviate some of the wedding bills. I would give the MAC to my mom, a self-employed graphic designer who is in desperate need of a laptop. She spends her time driving between her two houses in CA and ID (she just bought a little log cabin there to be her ‘get away’ - no running water or heater - it’s amazing). Every time she makes the trip, she packs up her tower, monitor, cords, cables, and printer. I would LOVE to be able to give her a laptop!

Egads - our laptop broke a few months ago, and our Mac desktop is sick and we’re not sure if she’ll make it! You are right when you say this is the biggest contest ever.
I need that Mac for a number of reasons but I’ll narrow it down- I bought a brand new computer 2 years ago before coming to law school because people told me to be afraid of Mac’s. Halfway through law school most people have gotten sick of our PC’s and switched to Mac’s. I’m poor so this isn’t an option. Also, i would save so much money by editing my super awesome wedding music video with the Mac and by using photobooth for my guestbook. Plus, the fact that microsoft office for mac is included means its a much easier transition for me.
And of course, that gift card means more money I’ll be saving my parents. They need that

Because I’ve been using the same computer since forever!! I’ve always been a diehard PC fan (mostly because I couldn’t afford a new computer anyway) so this would definitely convert me. My family might disown me, but it would be worth it!! Money is tight but I use my computer for everything from designing the save the dates to ordering stickers for our candy buffet.
Oh wow! I could really use the help right now. We’re paying for the wedding all by ourselves and we’ve been saving the past four years. We haven’t let ourselves splurge on anything for a long time and both his computer and mine are about to die on us. Mine was attacked by a hundred spywares and a handful of Trojans recently so I really want a Mac. They are so much safer and better to use! At this point of the wedding, it’ll be a long while before we can get a Mac but this giveaway would help us out so much!
Three important reasons I should win!
1) i foolishly bought a pc last year which runs on vista…which means that it barely runs.
2) because I’ll be fired from my job (where we work on macs) if they realize that i spend all my time at working on wedding stuff (at which point the wedding will be called off due to lack of ‘operational computer’).
3) with a mac, I’ll be able to talk to my graphic design SIL who lives across the country about how i can save money doing more for my wedding DIY style-while looking at the same screen! Oh, what a joy that would be!

I have completed my DIY invites, but the macbook would NOT go to waste… I am currently finishing my PhD and need need need a new comp to finish my thesis on… my laptop at home is biting the bullet, and my fiance’s computer is even worse! Oh gosh, where to begin! I’m a graphic designer with no computer! I browse the internet at work. I have an old Mac at home but it won’t even run Firefox anymore, at this point I use it to keep the cat warm! I have all the Adobe suite and skills to DIY all my wedding stuff Invites, Programs, you name it but no computer to run them on! With a new computer, I can get back on my game and not only do my wedding but also go back into Webdesign.
I also am a crafter and while I’ve been coming up with projects for my wedding I keep looking at all these people selling their stuff on ETSY. I’m dying to start my own side business, both for extra income and for a safety net to fallback on with the job market being crazy the way it is. So with the Gift Card I would buy a scanner, A good printer, and a digital camera (a have none of these) all of which I can use for the wedding! And all of which I need to Start a successful etsy business.
This package costs more than the budget for my wedding. So winning this would be the most amazing thing ever!
I bought an iBook right before I started law school, and that poor thing has been through so much in the past three years - I use it CONSTANTLY, and can only think of a handful of times when I’ve left it at home for more than a few hours. Now that I’m just a few weeks away from graduating law school (yay!), it’s time is just about up. It’s been dying a slow death for a few months now, and I’m just praying it can get me through exams. But soon after that, I know, it’s going to be time for a new computer, and the MacBook is seriously the only computer I’d even consider. Between not being able to work because of studying for the Bar in July, followed by the expense of our wedding two weeks later in August, followed quickly by a move to a new apartment and the need to buy tons of new furniture, it would definitely be a huge help to win this contest and not have to worry about how to afford a new Mac!
I have never had a mac, but I want as DIY a wedding as possible. I have a low paying job and my finacee is in law school. I need a new Mac because although we have 3 computers in our apartment, 1 is my fiancee’s desktop computer that I’m “not allowed to fill with wedding stuff” and the other 2 are our work laptops.
Because of all the data going in and out of my work laptop, she is pretty prone to crashing. In fact, just before New Years, I lost EVERYTHING on my work laptop, including the Guest List I had slaved over.

oh, because i am addicted to my dying powerbook, but can’t justify the expense of buying a new one. i recently graduated from library school and was doing a lot of new media instruction until i got a job doing electronic archives work for a year. i can’t bring myself to spend money on a new computer when i’m not sure how hard it will be to find a job come november and may be unemployed (project ends then and there is no money in the university’s budget to extend it). i’m hoping that the next job will involve some information literacy instruction for new media, and that the library will buy me a mac book to do it, but the odds are slim.

I bought my Powerbook in 2003 — yes, six years ago — and it’s still going strong, but defiantly showing its age. I use OS 10.2 and Office 2003. My computer and operating system are so old I can’t get new software updates. Please, please with whip cream and sugar on top, help this crafty bee out with a new computer.

I am still in school and sadly, my 13″ MacBook White (that I had nicknamed “Ringo” b/c in Japanese, “Ringo” means “apple”) which has been with me on 3 continents over the past 2 years and deserves its own passport was stolen when our apartment was broken into last semester, with all of the DIY projects that I had saved on it (luckily my schoolwork was just uploaded onto a USB drive the day before, but I ran out of space for the wedding related projects). Winning this would not only really really help in finishing my master’s thesis, but be able to get all of our DIY projects back on track!
I would give my right eye for this prize! I don’t have a computer where I work, yet…everything is computerized (attendance, grades, etc.)! I could do so many great things with my students using this computer! Right now, there is not a single computer in my classroom. How are my students expected to succeed in a technology-driven world without the tools they need? Even 1 computer as FAB as this would be a GREAT start! Well, I should win this because I definitely need a new laptop. My old one is missing keys! I’m a huge fan of Apple and have been wanting a MacBook for a long time. The money is an added bonus, but the Microsoft Office is a huge plus! One definitely can not live without Word, or at least until Apple comes out with something a little bit better. Our parents have helped us but we’re trying to take on as much of the expense as possible because it’s been tough for them but they give anyway. We’d love to use it to purchase their outfits for the day.
As my contest entry, I will tell you a story:
My Sony Vaio laptop (affectionately dubbed “Lappy” the laptop) that was near and dear to my heart aged along with me in college and, apparently, having a four year old laptop is not quite the same as having a youthful child turn four or even a puppy dog turn four. Sadly in laptop years four is very old, and even with a RAM replacement and an investment in a very nice cushy laptop case, my beloved Lappy died a peaceful death attempting to boot, and his last word was “iiiiiiiiiii” (his “i” key broke about a month before death, in a perpetual state of “de-pression”).
To make matters even worse, I do not have the funds to purchase a predecessor in Lappy’s honor, which means I can only access fun sites such as WeddingBee when I’m at work, which thusly does not allow me to do fun things like post pictures to my wedding blog or design awesome DIY invites like the ones Miss Beagel just blogged about. Please, my HP all-in-one printer is very lonely without a laptop buddy, and I long for the days when I could just pop into Starbucks and graphic design my free time away!

My computer just died and I am in desperate need of a new laptop! I had planned on DIY’ing all my invitations, but without a laptop, it is impossible!

I’m a Mac-o-holic!! Love everything that has the Apple logo on it and would never ever go back to PC. Their software are much more user-friendly and creative, which is great for all us DYI brides.

I would love to win this! It would be fantastic to use the Mac to organize our wedding photos and music, and produce stationery items. My fiance and I are full-time graduate students who are paying for our own wedding. Having a computer with great tools for budgeting would be so helpful not only for the wedding, but also for life after. Additionally, I would love to have a computer to use while doing work for both my job and my volunteer work with local schools. Perhaps most importantly, my fiance is renewing his contract with the Army, and computers are an important part of our staying in touch during deployments. I have loved Macs forever, but pricing has prevented me from being able to purchase one. As my old computer is biting the dust, this would be the perfect time to make the switch.

Awesome! I’ve been a Mac girl since Mac classic and it’s about time to upgrade. iTunes has been such a help in organizing our ceremony and reception music.
Because my fiance deserves a new laptop for putting up with an old hand-me-down with broken speakers and auto reboot every 30 mins. he’s such a sweetheart and its time he gets what he deserves. oh and its about time he joined the mac-lover in me and got his own mac. and then maybe he can finally be better help in designing our save-the-dates.

Oh man, I have been dying for a new macbook. Mine is on its last legs right now - can’t watch video anymore and everything is slow slow slow. I am still in school and sadly, my 13″ MacBook White (that I had nicknamed “Ringo” b/c in Japanese, “Ringo” means “apple”) which has been with me on 3 continents over the past 2 years and deserves its own passport was stolen when our apartment was broken into last semester, with all of the DIY projects that I had saved on it (luckily my schoolwork was just uploaded onto a USB drive the day before, but I ran out of space for the wedding related projects). Winning this would not only really really help in finishing my master’s thesis, but be able to get all of our DIY projects back on track!

The love of my life lives in Europe. I am from the USA. Last year I quit my successful career and moved to his country so that we could be together. Finding a job there has been very difficult. I am running out of money and am starting to get scared that I will have to go back to the States. However, I have discovered this whole world of online work and am realizing that if I only had a computer at home (instead of borrowing here and there from a neighbor) then I could get one of these virtual jobs. Oh my, how do I begin?? This could not be more perfect timing…seriously it was meant to bee!! I spent 2 hours last Friday night at Best Buy (seriously by the time I left they were shut down, doors locked and they had to find the security guy to let me out) all to have them tell me that after working on my 1 year and 1 month old Dell for several days, it was dead. What??? And my warranty was for a year so that’s no good. So, now in order to update my weddingbee inspired, wonderfully organized wedding spreadsheets, I have to be at my office and I already spend to much time there as it is! Well I have learned my lesson, all I want is a MAC!!!
Ooh, please, please, please pick me! My last laptop died when the dog caught the cord and pulled it off the desk. But a Macbook cord is magnetized, so it would just pop right out! Plus, I’m in advertising so I can only use Macs at work. Please! I need this!
This is amazing! I’m a mac girl through and through and am trying to make my fiance a mac boy too! I’ve already been using what I can on my mac to create things like our save the dates and such but its hard with my lack of program choices since I’m a law student and can’t afford to drop $100s on nifty diy programs. This would be such a huge help for all my projects I have planned as well as keeping everything super organized!

I would love to win this! I am a full-time student with a hand-me-down (through 2 other people) laptop and with papers, projects, and tons of wedding images, my poor computer is on it’s last leg. For example, my USB port randomly decides whether to work or not, my ethernet plug in is broken, so i pretty much have to tape my ethernet cord in, and my battery won’t last but maybe 30 minutes without having to plug it in. Not to mention the fact that we’re both on college student budgets as we work on campus! This would be a dream come true! Thanks a million!

What a great contest!! My fiance and I are doing a DIY wedding, all the way down to me building furniture from scratch for our little apartment to save money. Winning this Macbook would be such a help doing invites, programs, wedding video, website, DJ, etc. I also know that it would make my sweetie’s planning and DIYing(is that a word?) easier, and she has been working so hard on our wedding that I would do anything to make it a little easier.
So if I win, I will do the chicken dance, run around in my underwear, jump in a frozen lake, or any other embarrassing thing; I know how helpful this macbook would be for my honey.

I’ve been mourning my lack of computer since my old Sony Vaio laptop became a permanent doorstop (right before college graduation… REALLY convenient for an English major). Since, the Fiance (who was the Boyfriend at the time) has generously gifted me a third-hand, ten-year-old Dell, the wireless card on which is falling apart. I’ve had my eye on a Macbook for two years, but first I had to get a real job, then save up to move to Memphis to be near the Boyfriend (now Fiance), and now wedding/honeymoon! Immediately after, we’ll be saving to buy a house, so who knows when my little Mac dreams will come true!
If I were fortunate enough to be a runner up, however, I would probably re-gift the prize to my lovely and talented sister (who is a Mac while I am a PC) so that we could share ideas and projects more fluidly while planning HER upcoming wedding this fall (I’m a mere 3 months before her! Sorry, Mom).
Oh, where do I even start with how much I need this?? Right before I graduated for college last May, my trusty computer which I had had since I was 17 decided to up and quit working! Neither my FI, nor I have a computer right now, and it’s IMPOSSIBLE. We make frequent trips to the library, to our parents’, but still, it is way to hard to live this day and age without a computer. (Especially hard to get my weddingbee fix!) I’ve been to the Mac website many times since I lost my computer, and I take my order all the way to checkout, never having the nerve to tkae the last step, because we frankly can’t afford it. This computer would be a life saver planning our wedding!!!

Our PC is very old and giving us lots of problems!! Everyone I know has a mac now and says it’s time for us to switch. This would make DIY projects so much easier. And since it’s a laptop, I could use it in the living room or wherever so that I could still be with my FI while I’m working on projects.

Wow wow wow! What a great prize. Of course I would love to win it…but do I deserve it? I’d like to think so. My fiancee and I are DIY-ing just about everything paper related for the wedding. I actually just bought a Gocco, and having a computer with such amazing graphics capabilities would make this whole process so much easier. Other than my DIY needs though, the computer would actually be for my fiancee. He is starting graduate school next year and he has to have a laptop (I’m speaking as a grad student with personal experience) so to be able to give him this as a gift would be wonderful.
What can you do with $1000? When your DIY-ing you can do a lot. That money would cover the cost of my Gocco, any additional Gocco supplies, paper, postage, everything! And I’m sure I’d have some left over for some other wonderful wedding detail. We are paying for this wedding ourselves and I would stretch that $1000 out to the very last penny!

This is an amazing giveaway! I hope I win because I am still in undergrad and will be in grad school in engineering in the fall and my computer just crashed. I’m going to need another one, but I don’t have an abundance of money right now for one because I have to buy apartment furniture and save up for the wedding in December. Also, my fiance’s house just got broken into by a meth head and his and his father’s laptops, his wii, his playstation, and his briefcase full of all his teaching and school stuff (including lesson plans, library books, and textbooks) got stolen. He is still in undergrad and is student teaching in the fall so he won’t be able to have a job in the fall and save up money to replace these things, so having a new computer and the extra money would REALLY help us out. Amazing. We could plan and execute our wedding from now to well beyond the honeymoon. This would include designing and printing save the dates, invitations, and thank you cards (Word), using it to play our MP3 selections throughout the reception (iTunes), organizing our budget (Excel), and corralling all our emails and pictures throughout the process. We could even distribute a Power Point slideshow after the event, not to mention archiving everything on DVD. Fingers are crossed.

Two days ago my hard drive crashed and apparently my computer is ready to move on. I have always had PCs but always wanted a Mac–I use one at work and have fallen madly in love! and I’m desperately trying to convert my PC husband to a MAC. His broke down sorry looking pc is riddled with viruses, and is a challenge to use. He’s an on the go guy and I know would love a MAC, if I could just get him to give it a go. And a free loaded up macbook would for sure be what i needed to get him to switch.

I heart Apple commercials!!! The only computer I use is the one here at work and it’s a PC.. Currently we have an HP laptop that I’ve had for about 9 years! It has seen WAY better days, to say the least. If we were to purchase another laptop, it would be MAC all the way!!! I DREAM of what it might be like to click on a program and have it open promptly without any issues… without freezing… or without having to have an IT certification to run an update!
Unfortunately, we are paying for most of wedding on our own (along with a mortgage, school loans, car payments, etc.), and a new computer just isn’t in the budget.

I think I should win because I would definitely put the computer and software to good use! I would use it for DIY wedding things (table numbers, signs, programs, etc). I would also use it for my classroom. I’m a first grade teacher and I’m constantly creating documents, flashcards, etc for my class. The computer would be an excellent vehicle for my creativity! I teach in a low income school, so I’m given $0 towards my classroom. I can get very creative when it comes to designing/making things on a computer rather than buying them!
I would love to win this because then we could donate one of our computers to an NGO in Cambodia which helps girls at risk for child trafficking to get an education. I volunteered with them a few years ago and those girls have been on my mind since. The NGO helps women and children who have been victims of violence, rape, or trafficking, but I am particularly in love with their scholarship program because I think it gives the girls such a brighter future! Not to mention that the first class of girls from the scholarship program is about to graduate this year…$1000 would give one of them the chance to go to college and fulfill her dream of being a lawyer, a doctor, or a future NGO organizer. because our computer (a pc) is on it’s last legs and cannot be unplugged from the wall or it shuts down (and then shows the dreaded blue screen of death); because we couldn’t afford wedding albums for our families and with the mac, I could design them and with the $1000 I could have them printed!

This is so awesome! I would love to win because the laptop we have now just died on us. I have a desk top as a backup but its cumbersome to use b/c its tucked away in the back of our office. I’m crazy obsessed with MAC products. My computer is a 15″ MacBook Pro, I love my iPod… I even have a big apple sticker on the back of my car! Here’s the shocker: my fiance still uses a PC. *gasp* He would love a MacBook, but as poor grad students we just can’t afford one right now!

Having this Mac with Office 2008 would be a godsend. I love photography and DIY projects and a Mac would be phenomenal for all the creative projects I love to do. It would help me in doing all the DIY projects I have planned for our wedding, including our invitations, save the dates, programs, menus, and any other paper product I can dream up now until that day.
I’m also in law school and it would be wonderful to have a laptop that would be reliable, less prone to virus issues, and on which I would still be able to use all of those essential Office programs. My school life revolves around having a dependable computer and this Mac would definitely be one.
Finally, I love Macs… if I had the money to spend, I would go out and get one… but I don’t. I’m a full time law student who also works part time and the money that I make goes to household expenses for my fiance and me. Oh, a new computer would be a godsend for me! My fiance and I are getting married in May, but we just found out we’re going to be 300 miles apart for the next 3 years at least. I have a 3 year-old laptop and an even older webcam, and every time we try to start a video chat, I get a slow connection and a grainy image. A brand-new system with an integrated webcam would go such a long way for keeping me and my husband-to-be sane for the next 3 years!

I think I deserve this package, because, really how could you plan a proper wedding without one? I use a Mac at work and know how incredible they are for photoshop, video, and pretty much everything else under the sun. I am a designer for a nonprofit marketing company. We work with nonprofits carrying out the Texas Marriage Initiative, providing free relationship education workshops for premarital couples. Being so involved in the wedding and marriage industry is a very fulfilling experience. However being a nonprofit does not provide us with the most up to date tools. We work on old pc’s, and it is difficult to use design software on such limited machinery. Having a MacBook would greatly improve our efficiency in designing flyers and printed materials that drive the community to our workshops. This would be such a useful tool for our community!

I am currently still operating on my 8 year old laptop from my pre-college days (yes, I realize that is like a dinosaur in the computer world). About a week ago it started making really loud noises, (sort-of like a jet plane trying to take off) and it has been downhill (on a seriously slope since then). I’ve got so many DIY projects planned that I NEED my computer for and according to my magic 8-ball, the ‘Outlook is not so good’ and since we are paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves there is very little spending money available for a new computer. OMG this is amazing! My poor dell laptop that carried me through college is having hard drive problems and I fear that it will soon reach its end! I need a place to store all my pictures and music (because Mr. Beagle won’t let me use up his memory :)). Plus…. I’ve always dreamed of having a Mac.
As I sit at home and leaf through the bridal magazines, I see TONS of wedding ideas that I would like to try DIY versions. However, that proves to be quite difficult when you don’t have a computer! Throughout college, I had to constantly bother my roommate to borrow her laptop or drive to the library on campus to type my reports. Now that I am a teacher, I have computers at school, but not hardly enough time to try tackle on such projects during the day. I yearn for my own laptop to create projects, etc. for my upcoming wedding.
The last few weeks I have been scouring the internet on my break at work for invitation/program/menu ideas but none are really ’speaking’ to me. I want to be creative and make my own unique DIY projects. Besides, all the invitations I see are ridiculously expensive…did I mention I am a teacher?
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my job, but between paying off student loans and going back for graduate school, I can’t afford my own laptop! I am a huge fan of Mac computers and could really see myself using it in all areas of my life. Not only would it be extremely beneficial in the wedding process (invites, programs, menu cards, candy buffet labels, ITunes for playlist, IMOVIE to create a video for the reception, etc), but I would also use the computer in other areas of my life! This includes: developing lesson plans at home for the SmartBoard I’m getting in my classroom, budgeting expenses (great tool for Hubby and I), storing/sharing photos from our wedding and honeymoon, keeping in touch with family/friends that live far away, etc.
In today’s world it seems strange NOT to have your own computer. I sometimes feel that I am the only one left who has never had their own!

What a fabulous giveaway! I currently have an HP laptop that I bought 3 years ago, with all the savings I had. It turns out that I got a lemon, because it must be plugged in, in order for it to have an internet connection. I sent it away so they could fix it, but they sent it back saying there was nothing wrong. I did a little research last month, and it turns out that my specific type of laptop had a defect in the wireless capability. I checked my receipt and I missed my 3 year warrenty by 3 days! It was very disheartening. I’m in the process of making my invitations and I will eventually will make our programs too, and would love to have laptop that actually works.

This would be such a huge help for me and my fiance! I moved to the United States 8 months ago, from Puerto Rico, to be closer to him (we had a long distance relationship - 2,000 miles - for 4 years), right after graduating college. We both graduated within the last year so we are both just starting out financially (and starting out in a brand new place with no furniture is not cheap as I’ve come to find out).
We got engaged two months ago and have begun planning our wedding. As I’ve been using MS Publisher for my invites, I really miss using the Mac quark (4 yrs ago) in designing. I’ve found a new love for designing graphics. But really, my laptop screen has been broken since about a week after I met my fiance. I was so excited about going to see him, I grabbed my laptop bag when class was over, not realizing I didn’t zipper the darn thing. My computer is so old that the CD drive won’t open on its own–I have to jam an unbent paperclip in the tiny hole next to the drive to get it to open! I would love a MacBook so that we’d have a sweet, sexy, portable way to keep track of our wedding documents. We are paying for our wedding 100% by ourselves, which has been challenging (but we are determined to do it without incurring any debt!).
I would like to make my own STD’s and invitations but my artistic skills are not great. Wow. What an amazing contest. Well my fiance and I both have four plus year old lap tops. His nearly exploded last night when I horrors of horrors had the audacity to try to book our honeymoon tickets. We both just found out we have to take a two week unpaid furlough, which amounts to an eight percent pay cut. So, a new computer is far from our future right now. Wow! Well my fiance needs a new computer for business school next fall. I will be supporting both of us on my teaching salary (yikes!!) and this would take a huge load off our shoulders!
Ahhh we would love to win this!! I’m a first year doc student whose 5-year old computer just got two types of nasty viruses on it in the same week When I took it in to the tech office at school to get it checked out, he said it had 6months to live max. So sad! Especially since the wedding is right around the corner and our meager funds are going to that. What else did he tell me? That I should get a Mac because all of my work would be better supported and protected!! I use Microsoft Office for EVERYTHING, literally: Word for all my papers and notes, Powerpoint for class, Excel for my stats homework, Project and Access for my research team. In addition, my FI’s 4-year old laptop no longer holds a battery life of more than 15 minutes, and it’s too old to replace

oh my goodness! i have been trying to save up for a mac since before our wedding. now we are trying to save up for a honeymoon since it’s been 6 months and we still haven’t had one, so the mac has been put on the back burner unfortunately. my current computer is from the mid 90’s and runs so slow. opening photoshop (which is necessary since i am an illustrator and need to use it all of the time) makes it freeze for at least an hour. i could save so much time and energy if i had a new computer. there is so much i want to get done but i always end up getting so far behind because my computer can’t keep up with me. this would be a huge lifesaver and mean the world to me!

My grad program and dissertation require programs that run on Windows but my Powerbook doesn’t have Boot Camp capabilities so I’m stuck doing all my work on campus, sometimes late into the night. Where to start! A new Mac would go to my husband to be to replace his crappy Dell. That means not only will he stop complaining about his crappy Dell, but he’ll have MS Office with all the cool new tools to help with our invites, programs, etc. The $1,000 would go directly into our wedding budget, which was reduced last week by about 75% when my much loved dog needed ACL surgery. Cross your fingers for us that we can still pull off a decent wedding by August ‘09!
I love MAC! My old Mac is ancient and very slow…and I would love a new Mac to be able to create DIY save the dates, invites, TY cards, menus, etc…the possibilities are endless!
Oh wow…. I love Macs… I had to give my old iBook up a few years ago because of hardware issues and now I have a PC. The mac would give me a better chance to be more creative with the invitations and other things that I need to design for the wedding. There is alot more freeware and cool apps to use with macs than PC’s.
Oh my gosh! This would be absolutely perfect for us. I was planning on getting a MacBook a few months ago to be able to DIY things for our wedding. The laptops at the Apple store were so perfect, and my current laptop is, well, hobbling along the side of the information superhighway like a dinosaur. The battery on it has long since died, rendering it more of a “desktop” than a “laptop;” I can’t run multiple programs at once — evidently my laptop is not a multi-tasker and thinks 1 program at a time is more than sufficient; and it freezes constantly. The blue screen of death? We’re close friends. We’ve shared many late nights together.
The economy being what it is, we’ve had some budget cutbacks (and honestly, who hasn’t?) so we decided we weren’t able to swing a new laptop at this point. It ended up being a good decision, because we recently found out that the electric in our house sorely needs to be updated (who knew that our kitchen light, microwave, and garage door were all wired on the same circuit?), and our gutters need repair (what, they’re not supposed to leak like waterfalls when it rains?). Oh, and did I mention our washing machine recently broke, too? I only found that out when I walked into the basement and was standing in a pool of sudsy water. I wish I was making this up, but let’s just say that FI and I have had our share of “for better or worse” moments and we haven’t even walked down the aisle yet!
So, needless to say, the laptop isn’t even on the list at this point. This would be an absolute lifesaver — we’re planning on DIY’ing almost everything that we can for the wedding. Programs, invites, save-the-dates, favors … you name it, I’ll be designing it. Plus the organizational software would be key for keeping everything wedding-related straight — I am pretty sure the memory required for that would cause my computer to go up in flames.
Because after three years of law school, my HP is on its deathbed… and FH has been trying to convert me to a Mac girl for 9 years now.

My current iBook is about 5 years old and on its last legs (crashes constantly), which is not good when one is trying to design her own wedding website, monograms, Save the Date cards, wedding programs, and all sorts of other DiY goodies! OMG! What a great contest and at a better time. My PC laptop fell victim to the conficker worm and then a whole bunch of viruses hit all at once. While the viruses and worm seem to be gone, my laptop hasn’t been operating the same since. We were just contemplating getting a new laptop - potentially switching to Mac since it is better suited for my needs.
Wow, a new computer would be such a blessing. My current one is giving me so many problems!
Oh my goodness, this could just convert me to a full mac user. We got Mr. Onion a Macbook Pro for Christmas, and I use a laptop for work (owned by my company). I don’t have a personal computer and if I switch jobs, I’m out of luck. I’d LOVE a chance to get comfortable on a brand new MAC of my own. Sign me up!
We currently don’t have a computer, although it would help us tremendously! We are trying to save for a house so a comp. isnt in the budget right now! this is really is a great give away! my future hubby and i do not have our own computer!! we go to the school library or use out friends…we are planning a wedding that it 6 hours away from where we live and it is really hard to communicate with vendors and the bridal party when we have to travel to get use of the internet!! having our own computer would really help us to make our day the best that it can be!!!

Okay, my Mac Book Pro is great and I looove it. I work in television and use it constantly to edit together packages on Final Cut Pro. However, it’s six years old and I would reeeally love a new one! Dear Bee Bloggers, please keep this a secret, I’m trying to surprise my fiancé. Shhhhhh! I don’t normally check wedding bee (I leave that to the soon-to-be Mrs.) but I happened upon this and it’s too good to be true. Having a MAC as the first addition to our new family would really make our special day and our lives complete! My fiancé and I have been trying to incorporate as many DIY projects as possible for our wedding. Although we’ve had a few misses, many have been hits. From save the dates to invitations, from seating charts to budget spreadsheets, and don’t forget memorable slide shows, having a MAC equipped with Microsoft Office would help keep us on track for the wedding and beyond. As for why I should win: I have friends who love their MacBooks but I have always been a PC fan since I associate macs with intro to programming class where they always crashed on me (due entirely to my mistakes while learning. Apparently computers don’t like infinite recursion?) This would give me a chance to learn again with something a bit more manageable. I think I can handle Office.

1) I’m Silicon Valley born and bred - I’m hardwired to operate on PCs and have been desperate to jump on the MAC bandwagon - how great would it be to have access to what I view as comfortable (Microsoft Office) in a Mac package? Just AWESOME.

My laptop died last spring. We were planning on buying another one jointly after we got hitched, but the recession hit and the Mr. has been jobless for a really, really long time. I can’t imagine a better way to say “Hurray! We made it through this crappy year, and I still love you so much” to eachother
My fiance, which I did not find out until later, sold his laptop last year so that we could have the security deposit for our apartment, when we moved from Maryland to Washington DC. He sacrificed that for us with a smile, but I have never been able to pay him back for it, and since then he has not had a computer to call his own, which is sad because he’s an IT guy. He never complains, but I know he’s sad about not having his own computer. I have one, but it’s about to die, and I’m on it constantly for schoolwork.
That sacrifice is one of many reasons why I’m marrying him, and it would be nice to be able to give something back to him to say thank you to the man I’m going to marry, especially since he does so much, just because it’s right, without searching for thanks in return.
Pick us! We are PhD students too who use our sad old, Fiance-put-together-from-scraps computer to email our students and write our creative writing pieces all day long (we’re also instructors). While we do get a very small stipend each month, we literally live check to check…every penny goes back to bills. Plus, we have to provide food for our two doggies and birdies, as well! Also, as if that wasn’t sad enough, the computer we DO have recently had to be “fixed” as it wasn’t running properly. Unfortunately, “fixed” meant they deleted EVERYTHING we had on the computer (think: STD proof, templates, photoshop which I’ve been doing all our rehearsal invites, day-of-timelines…etc. on) leaving me in tears and poor FH stunned. (He picked up an extra job writing a blog for the Missouri Review to try and save up a little more money). I could go on, but this is getting depressing. We would just really appreciate a stroke of good luck and a computer we can trust enough to do work on instead of being in the school lab to all hours of the night. Crossing our fingers!!!

HELLOOOO!!! I need this, I am a full time student, and my lap top (7 years old) video card just went!!! I can no longer use it for school purposes because it only projects blue and white colors… it gives me headaches when I use it @ home! We had all of our wedding addresses and info on there.. luckily i was able to recover it, and place it on a travel drive… but now i need a new computer to load it on! My fiance and I were just trying to brainstorm ways we could save money to buy a new laptop! He’s a graduate student and I’m an entry-level advertising executive and aspiring photographer, so we spend nearly all of our time on computers! We have one working one between us and it’s on it’s last leg. It’s six years old, a PC (when we’re both Mac lovers) and the monitor is no longer attached to the bottom part! (It sort of lossely hangs, you have to prop it against a wall to ever use it.) We would love to win this giveaway! I’ve been wishing and hoping for a Mac to use so I’d have a better photo editing system and also because it’s so much easier to design things on Macs! I have (foolishly? kindly?) offered to act as planner for 3 different friends weddings in the next 7 months, and I know that there are more coming after that. On top of that, I designed my own invitations with InDesign, and I know that they would have been EVEN BETTER if I’d had a mac. Oh! This is EXACTLY what we need!! Last week I found out that my dad is losing his sales job and a furniture retailer this month and on top of that, yesterday my mom called to tell me the cable company call center let her go! I immediately drove my laptop two hours away to their house so they can use it to job search. Now I’m stuck without a computer at home which means limited wedding planning/DIY projects and even worse….limited WEDDINGBEE (only when I get a quick break at work)!!
With the prospects for jobs looking dim for the boomer set I’m thinking they will have my comp for quite some time and I’m not sure when I’ll be able to complete my wedding projects. OMG…it’s like you guys read my mind! Do you know what angels you are for having this competition?! I desparately need my own computer. I have to share one at work, as well as at home, which makes doing ANY work (be it for the wedding or my job) infinitely more difficult. I feel as though I spend half of my time just scheduling time to use the computer!To make matters worse, my finace is laid off and I have picked up extra work with a publisher. Great right? Except all the work is done off site…you got it: on a computer. So much for trying to make ends meet.

I have a PC at home, and work in a Mac-based lab. My PI has been on my case to get a Mac for home, but I’m just a poor Ph.D. student (and my husband has $250K in debt from medical school) and I CANNOT afford to purchase a second computer for home use. This would solve all my compatibility problems and help get me one step closer to earning my Ph.D…. thereby shortening the length of time of my long-distance marriage! I could definitely use this computer. I’m in medical school where we were forced to buy these awful IBM Thinkpads. I have never had such a horrible computer. Parts of it chip off, the battery stopped working a month after the warranty was up, and it weighs about 300 pounds. The worst thing about it was that we had to pay $2,500 for it! I have never felt so ripped off. I know that it won’t last me much longer, but since I’m in school I don’t have the money to pony up for a new computer.
And aside from all of the practical issues…this could help with some amazing wedding projects!!!
I would love this so much because I want to make the switch from PC to MAC and FI and I are paying for our entire wedding ourselves! This would be the most amazing wedding present to each other because our current computers are on their last legs and we can’t afford to get each other a wedding day gift. Also, it would a great way to finish off the final details like designing programs, thank you cards, and keeping in touch with everyone after the wedding!
Oooh how exciting! I’ve been telling FI that if I had the extra funds I would buy a Mac. I switched to PC years ago when I graduated college and I long to go back. No more so than ever because trying to layout invitations on PC is a pain in the ear!

My fiance and I are Mac people and his iBook is in dire need of upgrading… but funds are, of course, pretty tight right now. I’d love to win him a new MacBook.
I don’t wan’t to say I ’should’ win this more than other people. Everyone else has some great reasons. But just incase I have a slight chance…. here is my reasoning:
my 12 inch Powerbook (that’s right…. pre-Mac Book Pro) is on it’s 5th year, and last legs, and there just isn’t money to buy a new computer at the moment. I will not buy a PC, because my heart belongs to Mac. But she’s a very pricey mistress, especially when one is broke. (She’s worth every penny, it just makes it more difficult)
She’s been a very trusty companion throughout all of my wedding planning. I’m using Photoshop, and my trusty ’side-kick’ is helping me design our invites, save the dates, menus, programs, thank-you cards, and everything else.
I have the old version of office for mac (2001 I think?) on my computer, and our guest list is in excel, it takes five minutes to load!
My lappy has also sustained several boo-boos throughout the years:
- she’s missing her delete button (I just have a rubber ‘nubbin’ where the button once was)
- the metallic finish to the right of the track-pad has been worn through to black speckles
-the bottom front right-hand corner top-casing has separated from the bottom casing, and there’s a small gap
- there are burnt out pixels in the ‘apple’ on the front cover
-the battery doesn’t sit flush in it’s mount anymore
-I’ve ‘chipped’ the corner of it, back left corner (my brother tripped over the powercable, and it yanked the laptop off the coffee table)
- I have to tape the powercord into the laptop for it to stay in place, because it’s not magnetic and it no longer ‘grips’ properly
- the battery only holds a charge for 30 minutes, absolute maximum
I’ve taken my laptop to two weddings I’ve shot, to several band promo shoots (hobbyist photog) and on several vacations. It goes with me everywhere and it breaks my heart that she’ll be dead soon. I’ve replaced the hard-drive on it once, as the original one failed (it cracked in half due to the heat, which was probably caused by the battery recall a few years back)
The budget-tracker would be great, because we are planning a wedding with a budget of 8 thousand dollars, for 150 people, in a very expensive metro city area, and it’s quite difficult and discouraging. We had to postpone the wedding for a long time (been engaged for over a year) due to layoffs at work. We made it through the cuts, but we don’t want to spend any more than we have to because there may be another round and we don’t want to have too much debt. My parents are putting up 5 K and we will be putting up 3k and since his haven’t offered any sort of assistance, that will just have to do!
I’m in the process of starting up a small secondary business selling stationary, and have also been designing my products on my computer. So this package would give me a nice kick-start in that area as well!

I currently use my work computer for most of my personal stuff because my other computer is like 7 years old and has a virus that I can’t remove. OMG. Not to sound overly dramatic, but winning a new Macbook- not to mention Office and a grand!! - would make a huge difference in my life. My first computer was a Mac, and that’s all I’ve been willing to buy ever since. I purchased my Macbook almost 5 years ago now, and although she’s old, she’s still a beauty. But she IS slowing down, and there are things she just can’t do. For example, her operating system is so old it’s not compatible with my new iPod (which I also love). Believe me, I’ve gone online to the Apple Store a hundred times and come so close to clicking the order button on a new Macbook. But I just can’t afford it right now. It’s simply not in the budget. But with dozens of DIY wedding projects looming - from invitations to escort cards to thank you’s - I’m worry about whether my old girl will make it through the six months left before the wedding. We would totally make use of this, from designing our invites to storing our photos. We once had a MAC, and then it died I miss it.
My FI and I are in desperate need of a new computer. Currently we are both in the final legs of our bachelor’s degrees. Soon we will be applying to the masters program at our school and are both in debt with student loans. We really cannot afford to replace our laptops right now, and his just stopped working. My FI and I are both students and I desperately need a new computer (I made a big mistake and brought an Acer a few years ago - steer clear), but really can’t afford one what with the wedding and everything. Well my old Mac Book recently just took a dive and isn’t able to recover. The hard drive went out and nothing can be recovered. On top of that, it always needed to be plugged in when being used cause the battery was shot. I’m starting my Master’s program in July so this computer would be great!

My husband and I got married this August and I started med school 3 days later (talk about a honeymoon.) He was supposed to be transferring within his company to MA, but with the upheaval in the economy they canceled his transfer and so he is stuck in NYC trying to support me in MA (I’m living with my parents) and himself! Everyday he looks for jobs and since we used to live together we only have one computer. He generously let me have the new computer for schoolwork and pulled out an old Dell I saved from high school. It takes him hours and hours to apply for jobs because the computer is so slow, but we’re so broke right now that we can’t afford another computer. This is EXACTLY what we need. It’s so hard starting out a marriage apart. All I want is for him to get a job near my medical school and this could help!

09–The average number of times per day I get jealous of my friend M. M has a Mac. M can open multiple files on her computer at one time. M can open all of our school lectures and assignments without any major freeze-ups. M, who is also getting married, created an amazing invitation design…and a custom monogram…and a wedding planning calendar…and a cookbook…all in the same amount of time I spent writing this sentence. I bet you are jealous of M now too…
I would love this Mackage (Mac + package). I’m not just a bride-to-be but also a student of pharmacy. I’m getting my undergrad in graphic design and I cannot wait to make it my career. Unfortunately almost all design work is done on computers and on a Mac format. I love macs and use them daily at school, but have not been able to afford one. I have an old PC to get me by for home work and some other assignments. It’s missing an F6 key, and if you plug anything into one of the USB ports the whole computer shuts down. Recently, my computer totally crashed and I had to pay to get an entirely new hard drive because I couldn’t afford to get a new computer.
Regardless, I am graduating in May, but my job search is not going well either.
I’m crossing my figures for an amazing wedding in 2 years, but with no job prospects in the future, I’m not sure how we’re going to start saving.

I’ve been a Mac girl ever since high school when I first used one when I was on yearbook staff. I actually got to see Steve Jobs speak at a convention, and he’s honestly the only speaker I remember from the many conventions I attended during high school.

Let’s see, my guy is in the military and has a personal macbook (an old one that is making some funny noises) that he has to use for work cause they won’t buy him a new one, and when he is deployed, we would be able to ichat without any hassle. I have been wanting to get a Mac book for at least a year now. Between a long distance relationship now (Georgia to Seattle) and long distance wedding planning (The wedding will be in Ohio), graduating from graduate school in May, finding a job in a crummy job market, and moving myself across country (from Georgia to Seattle soon!:), expenses are high and funds are low. Buying a Mac is just not a first priority! I have even been looking at the refurbished mac books. Winning this would save me money not only on a computer but I would being able to DIY Save the Dates, Invites, and More!

My daugher and her fiance are getting married in July, and every penny they have is going towards the wedding and starting their life together. They’ve talked for years about getting Mac books, but those definitely aren’t in their budget! I would love to win a Mac book for them, and give it to them as a wedding present! My finance and I should win this prize for many reasons. First, mine and my parents’ home was broken into about a month ago. Nearly all my belongings, computer, jump drives, briefcase, video game consoles, rifle, and etc., along my parents’ computer were stolen. While all of these things being taken is bad, the worst part of all of this is ALL of my school work was taken. I am currently working on obtaining a bachelors degree in history with social studies teaching certification, and in my program we do not turn in assignment for classes as we complete them but rather turn them all in at the end of the semester. As a result, I am having to redo half a semester’s work while also completing the work for the other half of the semester. This means I am spending many hours in my school’s computer lab, which is an hour from my home, since I no longer have a computer, so winning a mac would be the greatest thing to happen in my life since my engagement. Adding to my stress is the fact I will have to go from August to December because I will be student teaching in the fall. My finance and I will be getting married on Dec. 19th, so the money would help out tremendously towards the wedding/honeymoon.

I recently bought a MB and have no software. So I am jumping between my mac old PC lap top to do things for the wedding. It’s frustrating, HELP.
I would love to win this prize! Why? Because my current iBook G4 is nearing its fifth (5TH) birthday and slowly dying (i.e. dead battery, keyboard falling apart, not enough memory). This would be the perfect surprise wedding present for my hubby-to-be! His current laptop is old, battered, and missing some keys (due to our precious but evil kitty cats!)… and the company no longer produces the charger for it, so if anything happens to it (kitties…) he’s out of luck! We totally deserve this because my fi and i are hardcore DIY lovers whether it be from technology to building things around the house.
