A few weeks ago, I received a call from Mr. Cookie’s godmother, and she asked me to do a little favor for her. You see, she lives in Ohio, and she was flying to Colorado to throw a bridal shower for Mr. Cookie’s brother’s fiancée. Since she was flying, she didn’t want to lug favors in her suitcase, understandably. And she needed my help to create a goodie bag for the shower/tea attendees. So, I took on the task, and this is what I came up with:
Ta da! What do you think? I am so happy with how they turned out. The contents of the goodie bag included:
A Tin filled with Earl Grey Loose Leaf Tea
Since the bridal shower was held in a teahouse, I thought a lovely tin filled with Earl Grey Loose Leaf Tea would be nice, but I wanted something personalized. So, I constructed and designed the tins myself. I found the 3 oz. tin containers at Paper Mart and the Earl Grey Tea from the English Tea Store. I personally designed the labels in Adobe Illustrator and printed them out on Office Max Full Sheet Labels.

A Homemade Cranberry Orange Scone
I love to cook, but baking is another story. Not that I don’t like it, but I’m just not good at it — I’m too impatient. I needed a recipe for scones that wasn’t too complex, but still delicious. I was watching an episode of America’s Test Kitchen on PBS, and they were making blueberry scones. Voilà! My recipe. It was simple enough, and with a few substitutions (cranberries instead of blueberries, orange zest instead of lemon) I had delicious scones. Then, I packaged the scones in parchment bags with a homemade “Bon Appetit” sticker.
**If you use this recipe to make scones, I recommend going to the America’s Test Kitchen site for specific instructions on how to roll out the dough. You do have to register, but it’s free. Also, if you like your scones on the sweeter side, like me, I recommend adding just a bit more sugar. **

A Chocolove Milk Chocolate Bar
As a professed chocoholic, I wanted to include a little chocolatey somethin’ somethin’ to the goodie bag. I found these little pieces of loveliness at our local grocery store, but you can order them online. Best of all, they are made locally in Boulder (where the bridal tea was being held) and contain a love poem.
A Vanilla Soy Candle in a Tea Cup
Then, to top it all off, I made Vanilla Soy Candles. They are super easy and fun to do, and I’ll give you step-by-step instructions in another post. Stay tuned!
