About Mrs. Gloss

Try #2…

May 13th, 2009 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Gloss

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m planning on DIYing my makeup for the big day since we are getting married hours away from a metropolitan area and have a petite budget. Lo, of Lo and Co, was kind enough to pass along some great tips for me which I talked about here. I wasn’t really feeling the eyeliner on the bottom lashes, so I tried again. I guess one benefit of doing your own makeup is that you can practice!!

So, this was try #1:

And this is try #2:

Better?

Which eye makeup do you like better?

I”m not a fan of liner on the bottom lid. I love love love 2nd trial. It’s really nice and fresh and brings out your natural beauty nicely.

Love number 2. For the slightest bit more intensity, you may try lining the inner corner or the bottom lids. Don’t go all the way around (or nearly all) a la #1. Connecting the liner near the top lashline this way will give you a little more oomph.

I actually meant the outer corner of the bottom lids. Sorry!

They are both beautiful, but I think the shine from the flash on your forehead in #1 is detracting from #1. If you could put more powder in your “t-zone” and make that ridge under your eyebrow shiny and pop. I think #1 would look better and more subtle in person and #2 would look better on camera.

I like #2 I did my own make up and if I may would like to suggest that you do a practice with white on. I’m assuming your dress is white/ivory? You’d be amazed how much difference it can make to the colouring in your face!

I think you look great, you have a very pretty face and will be a B.E.A. Utiful bride!

I love #2. You did such a great job! I had two makeup trials and had the same kind of progression that you did, but with my stylist; I cut out the under-eye liner and pumped up my upper lashes on the 2nd run, and it was just such a younger, fresher look.

Trial #2 for sure! You just glow and it looks more natural :)
I always loved bottom eyeliner, but then I started to look at pictures of myself, and it really does take away from the rest of the face. So now, I line the outer 1/3 of the lower lash and smudge it towards the inner corner. I also don’t use very black liner anymore…I go for browns and greys now. :)

I’ll add my vote too, even though you’ve heard it down the line— #2. Looks so fresh and doesn’t overdo your pretty eyes. You also did a second try because you didn’t like the bottom liner, so skip it!

I like #2. Your skin looks amazing and I love your eye makeup in the 2nd pic. Definately go for this one!

By the way, are you using concealer beneath your eyes at all? If so, please give tips, I’m horrible at under-eye concealer and I so need it.

@xLailax: I think getting the correct color is a BIG step, I went to a bobbi brown counter and purchased their ‘corrector’…it honesetly took about 30 minutes for them to find the best/correct shade for me (they were awesome and very helpful) and they showed me how to apply it etc. I just use my pinky and tap it into the corrector and then tap along my undereye area until it’s blended, then set it with a powder. It makes a HUGE difference in how my face looks!
