About Mrs. Beagle

I love shoes—this is what happens when you work in a shoe department for 5 years. So, of course, in the beginning, I was super excited about the search for wedding shoes. I really wanted cute shoes so I could get cute pictures:

Looking back, I think I may have stressed a little too much over finding something that would look so perfect for pictures (there probably won’t be enough pictures to justify the time/effort I spent searching!). Nevertheless, with images of cute shoes floating around in my head, I began what seemed like a never-ending task. The contenders:

Too high (I fell in love with 1, 3, & 5… I think maybe I was in denial that the heel was to high, but you can never be too sure when ordering online): :)

Shoes, Shoes, and, Yes, Even More Shoes : wedding shoes Shoes1 shoes1

Uncomfortable (2, 4), too clunky (5), too short (1), just not right at all (3) :

Too casual:

These didn’t really go with the dress (I think they were just too much, you know?), but are oh-so-cute (it pained me to return these). I couldn’t justify keeping them when I have nothing to pair them with:

These were too blue. I loved these shoes, even though the heel was a tad short. When I gushed to several of my peeps about how much I loved them, they just didn’t understand the “Something Blue-Shoe” concept and I started second guessing my decision. I think the vintage-y style of the shoe would have gone perfectly with my dress, but I sent them back before I could find out, and now they are unavailable. :(

I think the most frustrating part of my search was that I knew what I wanted, but could not find it! I had my heart set on round, closed toed satin pumps with a 2.5″ - 3″ heel. This was impossible to find *within* my price range. This is key, because even though J.Crew, Kate, and Stuart know how to make a really nice round, closed toed satin pump with a medium heel, I couldn’t, no, wouldn’t pay $200-$300 for a pair of shoes I will more than likely wear one time (even if I tell myself I will wear them everyt ime I go out).

Luckily, this story has a happy ending, but you’ll have to wait until the next post to hear more about my wonderful weekend finds. :)

I know Miss Peep Toe can relate to my woes of shoe searching. What has been the most difficult find for your wedding? Has there been one part of planning that has been more stressful than the rest?

(Yes, I really did order and return ALL of these… good thing endless and Zappos have free shipping.)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the last pair of “something Blue Shoes” I don’t get how they are “too blue” they are GORGEOUS! It’s really crummy that they’re now unavailable because I think those would have been GREAT!

And the Bees continue to fuel the fire for other shoe addicts…lol!

I’m excited to see what you came up with, seeing as you went through so many great (but not quite right) options!

The shoe search has been driving me crazy too! I wanted to splurge on a really great pair of shoes, something strappy and fun I would wear again. BUT I am getting married on the beach and will sink in a high heel. I need a wedge but most are clunky and too casual. I think I finally found a cute strappy one with enough height (but not too much). It is more than I want to spend but I am ready to be done with this!

Can’t wait to see your find!

I too ordered three pairs from Zappos and sent back two. That was a couple of months ago and now I’m second-guessing my choice, though the ones I stuck with are fairly comfortable. I haven’t tried them on with my dress, though … that could be what sends me over the edge … and back to Zappos.

And don’t get me started on headpieces. I have ordered *four* from eBay. Fortunately, they were all under $20. Unfortunately, returning the “also-rans” isn’t really an option. Guess what will be showing up on the Bee classifieds soon? :-)

Are those blue Seychelles with the flower on the comfortable? I’m kind of eyeing them in taupe.

And how about when you tell people that you NEED the perfect blue/yellow/red/pink/whatever shoe because you want cool shoe photos? I mean, how many times could I say “because I really don’t want a white shoe” with a smile on my face before I snapped? It seemed logical to me to buy no less than 20 pairs! Thankfully my search ended this week too, thanks to ebay. I had gone to far as to appease my mother by setting a “this is the shoe deadline after which I will wear something white” date exactly four weeks before the wedding. Thank goodness it didn’t get to that.

@Lexatron: I thought they were pretty comfortable. I liked the heel- it gave a little more support than normal heels. I bought the taupe too-it’s a nice color, but also returned them.

I am having the hardest time finding shoes! I need short heels, like kitten heels, and it’s like they don’t MAKE those in satin! I’m starting to really stress about it!

I’m 5′8” and he is 6″. There is no way that I could wear anything much more than a kitten heel… but everything I see that is kitten and lower is so ugly and lacks the bells and whistles.

I have DEFINITELY had shoe drama, which I hadn’t anticipated. I had originally bought some Liz Rene Couture shoes, which were 4 1/4″ and then I had to get more shoes that I am still not sure are the right height. It really ticks me off because I was told that I did not need to order extra fabric, but I have to search the earth and moon for dumb a** kitten heels which I HATE!!!!!

I saw a play recently wear an actress had something almost identical to pretty ruffly #3. When she walked out in them I completely stopped paying attention to the show! So pretty! Can’t wait to see what you picked!

I wore the Nina shoes with the ankle strap (#1 in Set O’ Shoes #1) in a gorgeous blue at my wedding. They were slightly high and after 4 hours they really killed. I love rosettes on shoes. They are fabulous! You have very good taste!
