Mrs. Perfume's Picture
Mrs. Perfume, DC Age and Occupation: 36, Consultant (and Part-Time Professor) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 41, Consultant Engagement Date: May 13, 2008 Wedding Date: May, 2009 Venue: The Homestead, Hot Springs, Virginia About Me: I'd like to think that I'm a modern day Little Edie Beale. Only not as..."talented". More realistically, I'm a foodie who can't bake; a dancer and dilettente; an art collector with a penchant for the whimsical and subversive. I live in the city and adore the country, but not much in between. I like smart design, great craftmanship and good value. Most of all, I love the new vintage aesthetic: classic, sweet, delicate, bespoke. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go for a culinary arts degree rather than a PhD; but wouldn't trade Mr. P for the world.
About Mrs. Perfume

As you may know, we did not register for anything. Well, actually, we buried a pseudo registry (Honeyfund.com) in our wedding website, but didn’t think anyone would navigate to it. However, people are more tenacious than we thought! So we had some thank you cards to write (especially after the non-shower dinner the other night)!!

Initially I was going to order up some thank you notes from Lindsey (our invitation designer extraordinaire) to match our invitations. But we never got around to it. A little while back, Mr. P came up with the idea of using something that is reflective and specific to our venue (since it’s kind of like a third character in our wedding play!).

So on our last planning trip to the Homestead, we asked Esme (our coordinator) for some note cards with the resort’s image. She gladly gave us a bunch of these beautiful pen and ink printed cards. They’re simple, a little vintage-y and perfect! I just needed to spruce them up a little bit. I lined the envelopes (they’re really thin);

created a ’thank you’ band;

and created a wrap around label (I love the look of the wrap arounds, and I tried to imitate the style of an old apothecary label).

And voila! Semi-homemade, customized, and FREE! Now if only I had some seasoning packets and some gin…

Super cute! Love the apothecary inspired labels!!

But that last comment - so true!! I love when she tells you what’s in the seasoning packet - “Now this taco seasoning is just full of delicious things.. like pepper, cumin, salt, onion powder, and cayenne… could you imagine how much it would cost to have to buy all of those big bottles for this little old salad??”

Really Cute! That wrap-around band is a genius idea. It’s a great way to add character and charm to a card.

BTW I love Sandra Lee! She’s the best.

I love Esme! (She has done multiple work events for us and has great to work with each time.) You really are working with the best at the Homestead!

Perfume, these are beautiful! I love the band and the wrap label :)
@redbullfanatic</a, @Gilneas & @Miss Perfume: I love/loathe that show too! I’m going to make a pie with this premade pie crust and this premade pie filling, but I like to add cinnamon crunchies to the top. BAAA I do that too! I could have a show!

They look great! We used a line drawing of our garden venue for part of our invitation set-I think it’s a lovely vintage touch.

@mrspaetz: I just used MS Publisher, inserted a crest image that our invitation designer gave me and put in a text box for the words. Then a border. Print. And cut!
