Only not as..."talented". More realistically, I'm a foodie who can't bake; a dancer and dilettente; an art collector with a penchant for the whimsical and subversive. I live in the city and adore the country, but not much in between. I like smart design, great craftmanship and good value. Most of all, I love the new vintage aesthetic: classic, sweet, delicate, bespoke. Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

May 17th, 2009 @ 6:00 pm by Mrs. Perfume

My FMIL sent out the rehearsal dinner invitations the other week. It’s more of a welcome dinner than a rehearsal dinner, as everyone coming to the wedding is invited to the party the night before.

The RSVP deadline is today. So far about 50 (out of 80) people will be coming.

Our invitation designer, Lindsey Ryan, created these for my FMIL. They look similar to, but are not exactly the same as our invites. I asked that none of the specific elements from our suite be used, as I was worried guests might be confused.

Still, they turned out very close (and there was at least one party that got confused). Oh well. I do like the way they turned out, though!

Are you inviting everyone to your rehearsal dinner as well?  Why did you decide to celebrate that way?

Oh my gosh, I love these! Our RD will be wedding participants (and +1 guests) only, to help keep costs down…but I wish we could do a welcome dinner for everyone, because I’d love to have two evenings to celebrate with all our friends and family!

These are awesome! I love how they obviously GO with your invites, but don’t feel like they are the exact same design or very matchy - very much inspired by.

Our wedding is on the small side, we’re not having an actual rehearsal, and nearly everyone is local - so we’ve decided to forgo the rehearsal dinner (and save some money, too).

@Miss Bruschetta: @Gilneas: Thanks, guys! For the record, I have no idea why my FILs decided to invite EVERY guest to the rehearsal dinner!! I assume that since it’s a bit of a destination (situated in the remote Allegheny mountains), they thought it would make sense….

Oh I love! I wish we could do the same and have everyone, but the finances always win so it will be much smaller.

Omgomgomg I’m so excited, we hired Lindsey to do all of our paper products (for the aforementioned Vintage Alice in Wonderland wedding) and I die over her designs. Can’t wait to see the mock ups!!!

We are only inviting the wedding party and close family. Since we are having a larger wedding, it’s not the cards to invite everyone to the rehearsal. Great invites, btw!

We will most likey invite everyone (100ish) to the Rehersal dinner as well. Mostly because most of the guests will be from out of town or close family so it does not seem right to leave out the few friends who happen to live nearby but are not in the wedding party. We are also considering it a welcome dinner on Thursday instead of the night before the wedding so people can get to know each other, stay up late and drink without having to worry about getting in shape for our mid day wedding the following day.

I just love all of your stationery…they are delicious. :)

Yes, everyone was invited to the rehersal dinner as well. I just assumed everyone knew they would be invited to the RD, but I had a few people ask about it! So, I think the invitations are a great idea. It didn’t even occur to me!

They’re gorgeous! We’re not inviting all of our out of town guests to the RD. So far we’re only planning on inviting my aunt and uncle who are making the trip from Utah to Maryland, as they’re coming the farthest.
