Tracking the Weather

May 18th, 2009 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Deviled Egg

This is it! I will be getting married this weekend! **Happy dance!**

With the wedding within days, there is only one thing I know I have absolutely no control over — the weather. Of course, weather.com’s 10-day forecast will be my most-viewed site all week. (Well, after Weddingbee, of course!)

I started checking it last Friday and so far, the wedding day weather prediction has changed so many times. When I first looked, there was a 30% chance of showers. The next day it said 74 degrees and sunny. I checked it last night, and showers were back in the mix. The 30% chance and few showers were still in the forecast this morning, but when I just checked it a minute ago, it said 78 degrees and cloudy.

Weather

Oh, the torture of a changing weather forecast! I know that weather predictions so far out are unreliable, but it’s hard not to get wrapped up in checking it 2,000 two or three times a day.

Rain or shine, it won’t ruin our wedding day. The worst case scenario is that we have to take all of our pictures indoors. While this isn’t exactly what we want, it won’t make the day any less special.

But, not knowing is the hardest part!

Anyone else checking out weather forecasts way too much right now?

Heehee I don’t blame you. I telll myself over and over that I have no control but I know Ill still stalk it wayyyyy ahead of time (farmer’s almanac anyone??) Although, I do have to say, things are lookin up for you. And if it does happen to rain, there are always the adorable rain photo shoots that the pro site keeps featuring!

I had my bridal portraits on Friday and weather.com lied to me. It said 40% chance of showers and it was the most beautiful day. I suggest prayer instead :-)

Good luck!

Obsessed with weather.com right now! I have a serious love/hate relationship with the meteorologists. May 23rd cannot come fast enough so I can stop caring what the % chance of precipitation is!!!

Hope your day is great!!! (weather-wise, and otherwise ;)

Those darn forecasters! The weather is also a HUGE concern for me, but my wedding date is still far out since its dependent on some VIP family members. I just want a warm and slightly breezy day… is that too much to ask?

I just got married this past weekend and all I did was check the weather for the past 2 weeks. The whole time, the chances of showers kept increasing, and got as high as 50% the day of. Saturday AM it was cloudy and gloomy… and I was not happy. By 3pm, it started to clear up and by 5:30, when everyone was getting seated, the weather was PERFECT! We had blue skies, white clouds and sunshine. There was a slight breeze, but the temperature was PERFECT! When we left the reception around 11pm, that’s when it started raining. Our exit was under a covered walkway, so we still remained dry.

Don’t let the weather reports get you down. It’s hard not to, but think positive… and do a sun dance :)

You should check weather.gov, brought to you by NOAA and your tax dollars. It is the most accurate.

My last minute purchase for the wedding was umbrellas for the wedding party! I bought big black umbrellas for us to still be able to take some outside pictures. They were AWESOME pictures. The best part is the rainy weather made it pretty easy for me to negotiate a post wedding shoot with the hubby for this summer so we get some bright and sunny shots too!! (and I get to wear my dress again, bonus!)

I’ve been checking the forecast for my wedding in 6 days and it keeps changing! I’m trying to relax, but I want to be prepared!

SO exciting that your wedding is fast approaching! I love you sunny outlook, regardless of what Mother Nature gifts you on the wedding day. :-)

I’m a full-time weather obsessive — and weather.com is wrong on our weather much more frequently than forecasts from our local stations.

As for our wedding day, as much as I’d love to have great sunny skies.. the reality is November in Minnesota :) There’s no hope!

I did the same thing. About 8 days out it said rain and I started freaking out, but then it turned back to sun :)

a photographer friend told me she prefers to have slightly overcast days, because the light is better for outside photos. a blue sky can always be added in photoshop!

as a girl who personally knows about 5 meteorologists….they cannot in any way accurately predict more than 3 days out. it’s pretty much guessing. so no worries until thursday (and i’ll put in a good word!)

I was married in Chicago in January so we gambled with possibilities of a blizzard! However, it was a crystal clear perfect day-we lucked out so much!!

Sending you lots of good weather vibes!!!

I started checking the weather forecast at 10 days out. I, too, had the weather change several times. When I first started checking I was going to have 60% chance of showers, but later it told me sunny. I had a beautiful day! I am sending good weather wishes your way! Good luck and have a great wedding!
