About Mrs. Swan

I’m Thinking Flat

May 19th, 2009 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Swan

Shoes.

I know I want flat shoes for our wedding because Mr. Swan is my shorty… literally… hee hee! :) I don’t want to be much taller than him on the Big Day.

How about these?

My feet get hot in the summer, so sandals are definitely the way to go.

The bling… well… hey, everybody’s got to get the bling on somehow. :)

Anybody else wearing flats?

Love all your picks — and any of them would be so cute post-wedding with jeans or a fun skirt!

Oooo thanks for this post Miss Swan. I want to keep my heel under 2″ because Mr. MJ and I are close to the same height. These are so cute!

I have a short groom, too, but I’m a shorty too : )

Those are really cute options. You could also look at platinum or gold jack rogers. Love em!

I like all of these shoes, but a word of warning: When I tried shoes just like these, the brown color of the top of the sole looks too casual when paired with a wedding dress. Your foot won’t totally cover it; it’ll extend past your toes. And despite the bling, it wound up looking very casual.

I vote for the first pair too! If I weren’t only 5′1″ I would totally wear flats.

I’d love to wear flats! Alas, I’m the shorty of the Yorkie duo and can use the extra lift.

I am 5′10″, fiance is 5′4″. I will def be wearing something flat/with a very small heel. He could care less, he likes to remind that I’m already 6 inches taller…so really, what’s a few more? I just don’t want to feel too gigantic. Maybe the trick will be to find him some shoes with a little heel? haha Regardless, I am loving those flats….comfy, chic, and potentially very rewearable (which makes them double chic in my book!)

@kara: I think they are from Mystique. It seems like their style, but I haven’t been able to find them yet exactly.

Oooh, I wish I were tall enough to wear flats! I love the last pair. Very chic and not at all “cutesy” <– (you cracked me up in your cup cake post about wanting something exceptionally un-cutesy. you’re funny!)

Great post! My groom is several inches shorter than me, so my flat search was a tough one. I finally went with these:

But I’m also thinking maybe I should have a pair of sandals like yours to let my toes have a break…

Thanks for this post! i’m also planning to wear flat sandals since they go with my dress better than heels, and also, I’m getting married outside in central america in the middle of the rainy season(!). I’ve been having a hard time deciding on what kind of flat sandals to wear, so this post has given me some ideas. In terms of which ones YOU should wear….I think that the simpler the dress, the more bling bling the shoes should be…at least, that’s what i’m planning to do for myself. Let us know which ones you end up choosing.

I’m 5′10” and a few inches taller then my fiance. My sisters (my bridesmaids) are all 6ft or taller and my fiance’s brothers and cousins (his groomsmen) are all under 5′10”.

we’ve all spent hours trying to find great flats to wear. i really like these jeweled sandles. i think we’re going to go this route now. thanks for the idea!!

My dress was a sample and just hits the floor when I’m in bare feet so I’ll be wearing flats too! I like your bling options :)

I’m wearing some very short kitten heels from j. crew (http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shoes/heels/PRDOVR~11245/11245.jsp). I think the heels are about an inch high.

I’m wearing flats for the reception. Endless has a $25.00 off coupon on all flats. They are great because they have free overnight shipping…. Check them out. You may find some of your cute shoes there.

just an FYI…I have the jcrew sandals you pictured, and while they are super cute, they are also not very comfortable after wearing them for some time. There is no support or cushioning in the leather, so they feel very hard. You might want to have a second pair of comfortable shoes in case your feet start to hurt after the ceremony.

Cute shoes! It seems a lot of WeddingBee brides are opting for flats because they have shorter grooms. Personally, I’m hoping for a WeddingBee bride one day who says “You know what, I’m around the same height/taller than my groom, but I’m going to rock the heels anyway because the height doesn’t matter!” FI and I are the exact same height, but I’m totally wearing heels for the wedding. I made sure he was comfortable with it before buying the shoes, because it’s his day too, but forgoing the heels I love so FI could be taller didn’t seem right. I know a lot of people have different reasons for wanting their FI to be taller, often as simple as not wanting to look really gigantic in their photos, but so often it seems to come back to the idea that a “real man” is the bigger of the two. It seems very down on the short guys of the world to be embarassed by their lack of height (not saying you are of course!).

Since most days you will find me rocking my converse or ballet flats I didn’t want to chance a trip and fall on the wedding day so I’m going with these: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3019356?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=poetic+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults

I got home late from work to find them waiting for me from UPS. They are perfect!

Love the flats! I’m also wearing something v. similar for our wedding. One thing to consider: a friend of mine who also wore flats at her wedding mentioned that she wished she had gotten a pair with a heel strap - apparently she was v. self-conscious about the “flip flop” noise as she walked down the aisle! Just something to keep in mind!

Not doing flats, forced to do low heels, not because my FH is short but my dress will be if I don’t. (Imagine a high water dress walking down the aisle, not exactly flattering)

I love it! FH is just slightly taller than me, and he always pouts when I put on heels to go out. Besides that, I’m so much more comfortable and coordinated in flats. It’s a no brainer for me.
