About Mrs. Peep Toe

Call Me Frazzled.

May 20th, 2009 @ 6:10 pm by Mrs. Peep Toe

Like Miss Cheese (yet a lot less eloquently), I want to provide a good representation of what the final countdown feels like in the Peep household.

Source

One word: Frazzled.

We’ve been planning this wedding for over a year, and for 90% of that time I’ve felt no stress, no tension, no bridal pains. But this last week has been a doozy. It doesn’t help that Mr. Peeps has been stressed to the max due to finals week, and that we’ve been up until 1AM some nights editing papers and crafting posters (I swear he is in college, not grammar school). Yes, I said WE. What type of partner would I be if I didn’t help out with the little things like cutting, gluing, and correcting all the little comma mistakes?

On top of that, I have been fielding last minute questions from the venue, the in-laws, my parents, and the bridal party. While they all are SOO excited and everyone has the best of intentions, this tired bride finally reached the frazzled phase of planning.

After a very tense drive home from work yesterday with Mr. Peep (we’ve all had those car rides), I went to the gym to burn off some steam. After my workout, I still felt completely stressed and frazzled.

Yet, a funny thing happened to me on my way to the grocery store. My mind cleared of all the wedding crap, and I just thought about how much I love my man.

And for reasons I will never ever know, I finally found inspiration to write my wedding vows. I was pissed, I was tired, I was so not happy with Mr. Peeps, but I felt this overwhelming love for him. So, in the middle of the Trader Joe’s parking lot, I wrote my wedding vows. The vows that I’d been dreading to write since Mr. PT said he really wanted to write his own vows over a year ago. So through tears of joy and tears of anger, my heart poured out onto paper, and I was finally able to put into words how incredibly special Mr. Peeps is to me. I wish I could share them with you today, but since they are for Mr. Peeps, I think I should wait.

I will say that after my moment of clarity, I went right back into frazzled mode. But by the end of the night, I was able to apologize to Mr. Peeps. And I made sure that when he climbed into bed, exhausted from writing his last final, I snuggled up real close and told him how much I loved him.

Did your fiance suggest writing your own vows? Where have you found inspiration to write them?

You are so cute!!! I love this post! I can completely relate. I am in the final countdown stages, too, and every day, my tummy feels like I’m about to go on stage for the first time — and I’ve forgotten all my lines. I kind of love it, though. I feel so crazy and alive. Best wishes to you and Mr. Peep!

Uhhh.. I am SO struggling with vows. It does help me to know that maybe in the midst of a not-so-romantic moment, I may find the inspiration to write them. Congrats on having your own “aha” moment, and remembering how much you love your man.

When you refelct on your day, you will be so grateful you wrote your own vows. Just think, no one else has said to Mr PT what you will on that day, and no one ever will.

Thats pretty awesome right there.

hang in there,, I cant wait to see your pics I love your style!

I love that you wrote your vows in the trader joes parking lot! :)
We’re definitely writing our own vows - I don’t know when I’ll have that moment of writing clarity.

My fiance found those Dr. Seuss vows online and said he wanted to customize them and off to the man room he ran. I have no idea if he was serious but if he isn’t I have a feeling he’ll want us to write our own vows.

I love your vow writing story!! We decided to do our own, and one day I found myself randomly moved to just put pen to paper and let er rip. My vows were born so easily and they were perfect right away! I definitely think just letting the spirit move you so to speak is the best way to get them written. I definitely don’t think it would have worked if I would have scheduled a time to sit down and do it.

That’s wonderful that it came to you, and I will be eager to hear how the vows go over! We decided to write our own, which was a surprise to me that FI wanted to do it that way. We adapted some vows from a book and we worked together to personalize them and make sure they fit together.

hang in there!

we’re writing vows together and saying the same ones to each other, with just a slight variation.
It’s much easier to do it together.

Awww. I bet your vows will ROCK because they were written with passion.
Thank the Lord, FI didn’t want to write his own vows. I just couldn’t do it. We found an awesome celebrant that is writing our ENTIRE ceremony for us (for a pretty penny!) so I have no stress about that! (yet… haha)

This is one of several reasons that we went right out of the book for our vows. We’re both halfway-decent writers, but we didn’t want that extra pressure, and we decided there was so, so, so much personalization everywhere else in the wedstravaganza that having one thing be 100% traditional would be kind of refreshing for people.

We wrote our vows about a year in advance of the ceremony and never looked back! We wrote them with clear heads and hearts, together, before the wedding planning mode had kicked in, and for us it was very refreshing to read them again in that final frazzled week. It reminded us of what all this running around fuss is really about. Godd luck Peep. Keep snuggling through the tough days!

I’m one of those people who can only be creative and unique if I start with a good chunk (let’s say 20%) that’s already been completed. If I am just given a blank paper and a pen, it’s hopeless. So I started by searching the internet, reading other peoples vows, and writing down key words and phrases that I could relate to. Once I had a hefty amount of inspiration in one place I was able to write my own vows. It was so worth it! I love looking back at the promises and declarations I made that day.
