You Need to Know About This!

May 20th, 2009 @ 9:30 am by Mrs. Bear Cub

You might say I had some pretty severe internal conflict when it came to defining our wedding “colors” or “palette”. I didn’t want anything too defined! You can’t hold me back from pairing green and red and purple! and brown! …. and cream! You could say I’d have benefited from some good idea refining.

Everyone and their momzilla needs to go here right now:

Hey! Not so bad, eh?

Maybe I’m not the most “with-it” fiancée when it comes to the wedding color palette (because the ring on the fingy must mean I have an honorary arts degree—what? You don’t?). Even if you’re much more color-confident than myself, I recommend a gander at this crazy Flickr widget thing!

I picked colors for my automatic palette generator from inspirational photos like these -

Did your wedding colors come together naturally? …easily? What’s been your secret weapon for channeling color inspiration into a concrete palette? (Have you slipped by without a color palette? Lucky!) ;)

Those photos are gorgeous!

Picking my colors has been the hardest part of the planning process (so far!). I’ll have to give your secret weapon a try!

OMG Miss Bear Cub!! This is such a great find! I am having the toughest time figuring out our wedding color palette as well, so needless to say it has not come together naturally. But I did find this great site last night for some color palette inspiration.

The Perfect Palette

Finding the Perfect Palette was not hard for me. Working with colors comes natural for me. Our only issue was that I fell in love with more than one color palette! When you do what I do-its hard not to fall in love over and over!

I also used paint samples! It was hard to find a true turquoise so I used a shirt I had instead.

my color palette was formed similarly–just a few hours of selecting pictures randomized on theknot’s galleries….all the ones I picked had the same color scheme and theme!

our color palette was ruled by colors we like. so ours is black/white + red accents. i like it when friends say it’s very “us”.

For the longest time I was having issues with coming up with a beachy color scheme. But then I found this application called ColorSchemer Studio. It allows you to upload pics and extract colors from them. It is so cool. Like say you want to capture the color of the beautiful water colors in Hawaii. You can do that! Or the bright pink color of flamingos! :) Its an awesome app. I downloaded the 14 day free trial and honestly.. that is all I needed. It was absolutely a lifesaver.

We didn’t have a color palette… in fact my BMs all wore different color dresses, and every table had a different assortment of locally grown flowers. I think it ended up looking amazing, like the colors had been planned out. But if you must narrow it down, check out this cool site which stores other people’s color palette ideas or create your own:
