Dress for Mom

May 21st, 2009 @ 3:43 pm by Mrs. Perfume

As I’ve mentioned, my mother has put in countless hours sewing all sorts of things, major things (veil, BM dresses, Asian tea ceremony outfits, ring pillows, etc.), for our wedding. The latest project was my reception dress, which I told her to make ONLY if she had the time. Of course, she barely pieced together her own dress before finishing mine.

Unfortunately, she didn’t like the dress that she made. I had sketched out something that I thought she’d look good in, but it didn’t translate very well. Good thing it’s not totally finished. I called her today and told her not touch it. I bought a dress for her.

Here it is!!! She loves blue and Champagne, and I think the jacket has a slightly Asian feel with the brocade, Trapunto stitching and high collar. I hope she likes it.

Did you have a lot of input on your mom’s dress, or did she choose one on her own?

More than likely, I will also be buying my mom’s dress. I hope I can find one that she likes! Is that one from Nordstrom’s? They seem to have the best selection.

I helped my Mom find hers but she made the final selection. It just came in the mail from Nordstrom’s this week and she say’s it’s perfect. I can’t wait to see it.

That is a gorgeous and elegant dress! My poor mommy bought an awful outfit when she was overseas, so my sister and I went shopping and bought her four dresses!! Needless to say, we had a huge input on her dress.

That dress is gorgeous. My momma would look spectacular in it! Thanks for posting. :-)

My mom waited until the last minute to get her dress for my sister’s wedding, and so far she’s doing the same with my wedding. My FMIL is itching to buy her dress (she’s already shopping around!) but she’s kindly waiting for my mom to choose first. I wish she’d do it already!!

My mom just told me the other day she purchased a dress she thought she might wear to my wedding 5 years ago!!! i didn’t even know my guy yet at that point! craziness. I’ve never seen it, but maybe next time I make it back to the east coast.

Very sweet, Miss Perfume! I wish I had input with my mom. She bought two dresses that are the same, and is planning on cutting one of them up and attaching it to the other one, to make it long. She has not started this yet. You know how soon the wedding is!!! ;)

At least I snuck her into a store this week and got her to order a black jacket! eeep. :)

That dress is fabulous. My mom keeps asking if its ok if she wears gaucho pants. This might have concerned me, but i trust my mom’s style. Also she appears to be giving me unstated veto power, since she keeps asking if that is in fact ok. Mom’s not a gown kind of person, and our wedding is going to be so casual (and the weather probably very warm)that i think it will work just fine.

My mom & I both loved the idea of her wearing her wedding dress (don’t worry, it’s not white!) from her destination wedding in Jamaica 2 years ago :) It was perfect!

I love this dress. So not the typical mother of the bride look, with all the old lady beading and such. So unique but very classy looking. I bet your mom will love it and look just stunning wearing it. What a thoughtful thing for you to do :)
