About Mrs. Peep Toe

Subject: Add Safety Dance

May 22nd, 2009 @ 9:29 am by Mrs. Peep Toe

… to the list of wedding music!!! SSSSSS— AAAAAA— FFFFFFF— EEEEEE— TTTTTTT— YYYYYY— SAFETY DANCE!

This was the email that I got from Mr. Peep today. And I have to admit—this song wouldn’t be on my list!! But I am totally OK with that! I am just excited that Mr. Peep is excited to bust a move on the dance floor!

Here’s the thing: up until a wedding last June, I could NEVER get Mr. Peep on the dance floor. It almost made me want to break up with him at his cousin’s wedding. Seriously, this Peep likes to bust a move (like the white girl I am) whenever I get the chance. I couldn’t marry someone who didn’t dance.

Enter DJ David.

Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe him. Mr. Peep was out on the dance floor ALL NIGHT LONG!! I don’t know how DJ David did it, other than playing an amazing list of music. But he saved our relationship (not really, but you know what I mean)!! We practically booked him for our wedding on the spot. Within 3 days of our friends’ wedding, we had a signed contract and had paid our deposit.

Here’s evidence of the dancing Peeps. We’re in the corner. Me grooving out with my eyes closed, and Mr. Peep with his curly hair and glasses:

And here’s one of my bridesmaids busting her own move.

So with the wedding countdown in full swing, we’ve both been trying to get our favorite songs on THE list. And boy, do we have different taste in music. After a long night of picking and choosing our music (and a last-minute email from Mr. Peep), I emailed our playlist to our DJ today.

Its really funny! FH and I are totally in sync when it come to music…except for Country…he totally loves it, and while I enjoy a good hoe down as much as the next pseudo country fan, he is total redneck. Good thing is he doesn’t enjoy dancing to it so it want a problem not to have much of it at the wedding. Looking at our budget we skimped on everything EXCEPT the DJ…so you can see how excited we are to boogie woogie on the big day!

That’s awesome! I love your list. I am really pushing to hear “Wind it Up”, by Gwen Stefani. My family loves the sound of music and I still can’t get over her sampling the yodeling goat herd song! The beat is so fun too!

My matron of honor has insisted on doing the safety dance with me at my wedding.

Because if you don’t dance, then you’re no friend of mine!

Is it sad that my list is all of your “parent friendly” music? I’m such a dork. I love old music and I rarely listen to anything made in the last two years…except U2.

I cannot thank you enough for this list… I’ve been having a song list block lately and I know I need to get started on it. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! As I was reading your list I sounded like this “yes, yes, um YEAH, yes, DUH, yes…” You get the idea :)

I’m not even kidding, I think Mr. Spin would die of joy on the spot if I let him pick Let Me Clear My Throat by DJ Kool for our first dance. ^_^

Awesome list! There are so many songs on there that we’re putting on our list!

This is fabulous! Yes, the music part is hard for us because we are both musicians and major music lovers… and our music is not necessarily our parents’ music. Although you never know, I might just be able to picture my dad getting down to Gwen Stefani.

I have to say though, You Really Got A Hold On Me may not be a good choice for a wedding. Fabulous song, but that is one twisted codependent relationship being described, and just seems like bad wedding karma. ;)

I’m not sure if it’s the same one, but we are in the Bay and had a DJ by the same name. He does clubs around the area and he was SO GOOD. I hope it’s the same person, because man-o-man, he’s awesome! Everybody loved him, even the older set. And people were upset when we had to go.
