Mrs. Taffy's Picture
Mrs. Taffy, Ann Arbor Age and Occupation: 28, Color and Materials Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Automotive Designer Engagement Date: May 9, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2009 Blogging Since: September 14, 2008 Venue: University of Michigan Union About Me: I’m a girl who is crazy about Mr. Taffy, sewing, dancing, almost all types of sweets, and our cute pet canaries. I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
About Mrs. Taffy

My upcoming bachelorette party has given me the cause to hunt through my vintage clothing collection, most of which has been buried at my mom’s house through the years. The 1950s dress up party-theme is perfect for me, as it validates all the years I spent scouring thrift stores for fun vintage finds. ;)

Today I will share some of the things that I will be bringing for the dress up rack. I am hoping to change every hour, because I want to wear everything! I also found a great dress (one that I thought I had lost) for our rehearsal.

First up: A vintage wedding dress! My Taffette of honor gave me this dress for my birthday about six years ago, I think. I love the sleeves!

The bow is so cute in the back. :)

I have a pill box veil that might be fun to wear with it…

This next dress is my absolute favorite! I found this one at a vintage store in LA a few years back. I will probably wear this dress to the hotel after our wedding!

You may remember this dress from a poll last fall… I wore it to my friend’s Halloween wedding!

The pictures really don’t do this next dress any justice. It looks much cuter on! I have a pair of little black gloves that would be adorable with it.

During my clothes hunt, I found one of my favorite, long lost vintage dresses! I won’t be bringing this one to the party, but will be wearing it to the rehearsal. This also looks way cuter on than sitting on a hanger.

The print is so fun!

I love vintage dresses. But did I hear someone say this was going to turn into a slumber party? ;)

Since my dream job is to be an intimate apparel designer, I have picked up a few fun nighties, dusters, slips, robes over the years. I can’t believe I finally have an occasion to bring them out! :) I think this is my favorite one:

The robe that goes with it looks like it needs to come with a box of bon bons! Those sleeves are out of control. ;)

How about something blue?

Or something yellow? The bow is irresistible to me.

This lace half slip is my favorite! I wasn’t able to iron the blue bow out before shooting this picture.

I looove the lace border.

This pink slip fits right into our bow theme!

Aughhh cuteness overload!!!

I can’t wait for the party! A little bird told me that there may be a photo booth, so stay tuned for a fun recap after the wedding!!!

Those are so awesome! Vintage lingerie seems hard to find in terms of good pieces, but yours are so great! Love the lace half-slip! So pretty!

OMG I love them all! My favorite though, has to be the dress you’re planning on wearing to the hotel :)

Those are some great finds you have! I wish we had a market for that in my hometown! Would you recommend any great online vendors?

You’ve got quite an impressive collection. I would want to wear all of it too, if it were me!

Absolutely love the strapless dress with the tiny flowers. It’s the epitome of 50s girly glam.

The first robe and nightie set must have been popular, I have the exact same set in black.

Miss Taffy, your vintage collection is jaw dropping! I always in and out when reading weddingbee blogs and I don’t catch every post, but your wedding theme just clicked when I saw this post! :) It’s SO YOU!

Holy cow! Those are amazing! Where do you find such cute stuff? I love vintage dresses but can never seem to find any that are cute and still in good shape!

Your rehearsal dress is nearly identical to the dress my mother wore for her marriage to my stepfather. It’s what I’m hoping to wear to my rehearsal as well!

You really do have an amazing collection of vintage finds.

@WorstTwinEver15: I haven’t bought anything online, so unfortunately I don’t have any advice! :( Everything in the post was from scouring thrift stores over the years, except the second dress, which I bought at a vintage store in LA.

@CalicoBride: I have seen another set in ivory, but never black! Ohhh, how I would love to find it in black…
