About Mrs. Powder Puff

*So I know the whole Marie Antoinette cake title thing is totally overdone at this point, but seriously, I can’t resist!

This past weekend, Mr. Powder Puff and I met with his fabulously talented aunt who has agreed to make our wedding cake. Bring out the fireworks and pom poms, people, because our last major “to do” is now DONE! Woohoo!!!

Now, I have to admit that the cake has never been high on my priority list. Hence waiting until a little over a month till the day to nail down this decision. But the mister’s aunt made it a totally painless process. She simply sat me down with a stack of cake books, which I perused. I picked out the simplest looking cake, a couple of flavors (including some red velvet… om nom nom!), and voila! Done!

And what does this cake in question look like? Very similar to this beauty:

Let Them Eat Some Totally Yummy Cake!* : wedding cake 001 Pri04 Seriously, it was the easiest wedding decision we’ve made yet.

Did anyone else find a big decision to be quick and easy?

Yay! Gorgeous. Very porcelein-like. Our cake was a piece of cake, too! We flipped through a book, said “mm this one!” and moved on. Our venue was a relatively easy thing for us, too…as was my gown and the tuxes and the rehearsal dinner…ok lots of things i just picked and moved on =] Things like invites/programs? Uhhh, HOURS of nit-picking

cake was an easy one for us as well. We had lunch at a small cafe near our venue before our initial meeting with their wedding planner. This cafe had amazing desserts (like from scratch that your grandma might make)….two phone calls later 6 different home-baked goodies are arriving for our guests to dig into. Cake buffet it is, and it was the cheapest and easiest decision of the wedding. Dangit…now I’m craving cake! :)

Our DJ was absolutely the easiest wedding decision (other than to say yes to Mr’s proposal) ever! We met them at the Hinsdale wedding walk (HIGHLY suggest this is you’re in the chicagoland area), they were so nice, and personable and had everything we were looking for. I kept them in mind for the next few months, and one day I got an e-mail from them with a special offer for Friday weddings. I checked online for reviews and every single review raved about their service- not a bad thing to say out of a TON of reviews! We met with them, and after their obligatory (and completely unneccessary) preso he asked me if I wanted a few minutes to think it over. I said “NOPE, sign me up!” I haven’t had a single worry about it since, and that’s the only wedding related thing I can say that about- and I LOVE saying it “NO WORRIES” woohoo!
