Mrs. Powder Puff, Chicago Age and Occupation: 25, Preschool Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Career Services Engagement Date: May, 2008 Wedding Date: July, 2009 Blogging Since: November 12, 2008 Venue: Outdoor ceremony, banquet hall reception About Me: I am your typical Midwestern girl attempting to plan a sane, budget-friendly, fun wedding to the man of my dreams. While weddings can certainly be all-consuming, I honestly can’t wait until the ceremony is over and I can finally call Mr. Powder Puff my husband!
About Mrs. Powder Puff

Yes, that’s right my friends. Mr. Powder Puff and I bought our wedding bands this past weekend. I hate to say it, but we’re one of those sappy couples that got matching rings. That’s basically one step away from matching leisure suits and “His” and “Her” towels. And I kinda like it!

His: A 5mm white gold band

Hers: A 3mm white gold band

It was a smidge difficult to find a band that fit well with my engagement ring. I’ve always known that I wanted a plain white gold band, gorgeous in its simplicity, that would look great with and without my engagement ring. Since my e-ring is in a low setting with a Celtic love knot on either side, most of the wedding bands sat a little too far away from it for my taste. But this ring is just low enough that it bypasses the love knots and looks perfect. Yay!

And I have to say, I looove the way Mr. Powder Puff’s ring looks on his hand! I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s love, coupled with the realization that in a few short weeks he is going to be my HUSBAND. And seeing that ring on his finger makes it all the more real.

Did you and your fiance get matching rings? Or did you choose something different?

I have done a couple post on the boards about needing to match! There is just something nice about the rings being a set that makes the people wearing them a set too. :)

We definitely chose something different, but I agree re: the look of a wedding ring on his hands. For some reason, I loved the look, and it made me feel great. I guess it screams commitment, which isn’t a bad thing, is it? :)

Ours are completely different. I ordered his and I’m a little sad that he’s too superstitious to try it on. Oh well. His is a white gold 7mm band with a miligrain around it and is engraved on the inside. Mine is actually two bands with curved diamonds on the top and two diamonds on the side (it’ll make a circle around my solitare).

My husband has a 6mm platinum in the same style. It’s simple yet beautiful.

Ours couldn’t be more different. Mine is a very thin white gold band with diamond chips, his is the widest ring I’ve ever seen (it takes up half the space between knuckles) and is made of tungsten, so it looks blackish-silver.

Ours don’t match a bit. It makes me a little sad, but I really wanted him to pick something he would love. I’m going to have to do a post on this soon, I think.

I don’t think its cheesy to have matching rings :) I love the idea.
Mr Frenchie really wants milgrain on his ring and I’m not a fan, so we’re going w/ different styles but the same metal :)

I so said “awww” in my head when I read the statement about the ring on his finger making it feel all the more real. I love the look of matching rings! Part of me hopes that’s what we decide on…but we’re still figuring it out.

Even though they match, I don’t think this falls in the category of “you’re so mushy cute im going to puke” type of thing. I think this falls in the “these are beautiful and meaningful to us, and thats what its all about” type of thing. :) Ours dont match, but they coordinate and that was important to us.

He wants ours to match which was something I’d never considered. I figured I’d do a bunch of diamonds and well, he wouldn’t.
So… we shall see!

we both have bling, does that count? Champ wanted a little man-bling and I don’t mind as long as it’s not over the top! Sometimes simple is very nice, and honestly who would notice if they matched anyway?

We got matching ones and we love love love them. We saught out something cool and engraved and we found the neatest sort of weave pattern that reminds us of our love and being intertwined-we are sappy too!! Having matching bands makes us feel like we have Team Rings. Team Us.

We don’t match, but we would’ve liked to. We just couldn’t find anything that worked for both of us.

I didn’t realize I was so traditional in some things until this wedding planning began. I knew from the get go that I wanted matching wedding bands!! I don’t know, for me, it’s the epitome of marriage! Our jeweler even asked if I wanted it in a smaller band, but I wanted it to be as thick as my FI’s. I just like the thought of us with matching wedding bands and becoming one. Cheesy, I know.

Ours won’t match, but I hear ya on thinking a ring looks super sexy on your betrothed’s hand — I can’t wait until Mr. Bruschetta’s comes in and we can pick it up! :-)

eeee! I love your bands. So classic. One of the things that I’m looking forward to is looking at my FI’s hand after we get married and seeing the band there. *sigh* :)

Is Mr. PP wearing his ring already? Or did he just try it on? My FI wanted to wear his ring, but I said NO WAY! Not til we’re official! But I think it’s cute he wants to wear it now!! Shows that he’s excited too! Ours don’t match, but they’re perfect for our personalities, so I don’t mind. :-)

I wanted at least complimentary rings, but from the looks of it, they’re going to be completely different! :(

We love our matching rings! I also had a similar concern about finding a band that looked like it belonged with my engagement ring. But I really wanted my band to match his, and I also wanted one that I could wear ALL of the time. (I remove my diamond ring while cooking, cleaning, exercising, sleeping, etc.) I’m glad you found bands you love, too! http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/2009/05/20/with-this-ring/

I agree… I like the idea of matching rings. My husband and I went for matching platinum rings.

I think that even if you can’t agree on a style, the metals should match. It unites a couple and symbolizes they are a pair.

Wow, I’ve never even considered that people don’t get matching rings! Everyone I know has matching rings - and in fact that’s how they sell them in Singapore. I like them matching. :)

awww so sweet! I think its meaningful that you both have the same ring. My fiance wants something simple and I’m totally in tune with that - I liked the two tone look - but since we want our wedding bands to have the same metal (and Im not particularly fond of 2 toned women’s bands) we’re looking into milled and hammered looks. Band shopping is SO exciting! I love it, and he loves that we’re not just looking at engagement rings for me anymore! (took forever!)

We’re not getting matching bands, but they will have matching elements. My e-ring has a millgrain edge, so I wanted my band to have the milgrain, and he really likes it too, so his will probably also have it. However, whereas my band will be smooth and shiny palladium, he is leaning toward hammered palladium. It was important to us that bands looked somewhat similar (so people wouldn’t think we were married to other people!), but they didn’t need to be exactly alike. I think it’s a great representation of us as a couple- we are a LOT alike, but in many ways totally different!
