WAY too early on a Sunday morning during a late April heat wave, Mr. Swan and I had our engagement shoot with our photographer, Dante Williams. We decided on South Street Seaport, which is quaint yet touristy little area right on the water in lower Manhattan. It was good to get there early, as it can be a total mob scene during the weekend.
Let me start by saying that Mr. Swan and I are not supermodels by any stretch of the imagination. NOBODY tells you how hard taking pictures can be. Yes, it should be easy to just sit there… but it wasn’t. I think we were just having a hard time relaxing. Needless to say, we started off pretty slow, BUT, by the end of the session we actually got to be pretty good (either that, or Dante was just messing with us). I also think Mr. Swan enjoyed an excuse for PDA early in the morning. In the end, I’m glad that we chose to do engagement pictures, so that we could get used to being photographic subjects for Dante, and get over our shyness.
The results? AMAZING. Here are some of my favorites (Oh yeah, the blonde guy is Mr. Swan):

I looooove your e-pics! We took ours in a public library on a Sunday afternoon. Talk about awkward! We were in everyone’s way! Oh well, it was a temporary awkwardness and the awesome shots we got totally made up for it.

Did you go somewhere else than the Seaport? We are doing ours in two weeks but need to come up with a few places.

Those are fabulous! You two look so comfortable together. I agree though, taking engagement photos is EXHAUSTING! We took ours at various spots around San Francisco over a span of 7 hours.
I love them! I think the last photo is my favorite. There were a lot of people out and about when we took our e-pics too and it was hard adjusting to that.

Love them!!! I especially love the last 2. I am so worried about not being able to relax for our e-pics either. But, both of you look like naturals in yours, so I have hope! Yay!

i love your pics! we are taking our engagement photos this weekend and trying to decide on a location. I am thinking brooklyn height/the brooklyn bridge. the seaport is a great idea but at the time we taking the pics it will be too busy with tourist.
btw….i love your arms…you got michelle obama arms!!! i am trying to work out to have my arms look like yours! lol!

We took our engagement pics in NYC as well, in Central Park. We went after work last week, so it wasn’t too crowded, and the good thing about Central Park is that it’s so big, there are plenty of spots to photograph in.
Awesome pictures! Our e-session will be done in Gatlinburg, TN (a huge tourist area)…in the middle of summer. I’m thinking we’ll do just what you and Mr. Swan did…get there early to beat the crowds and the heat!

@El Capataz - Yes. This is all all at the South Street Seaport. It’s a nice spot because there are some many beautiful backdrops. I recommend it, but early is truly the way to go.
@Miss Yorkie - Oh my! Seven hours! Mr. Swan was starting to fade at about 2 and change.

@sjpaek- LOL re: my arms!! I will say that my arms are any area that I am kind of lucky. I don’t need to do too much to them. Any weight I gain goes to my lower body.

we just had some pictures take in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. There were tons of people around, but that made it fun! People were great and willing to step aside so we could ‘get the shot’. I hope they came out good!
your pictures are beautiful. I love the ones at the seaport. We just took ours on the Brooklyn Bridge and we got up super early on a Saturday to beat the crowds. We were tired but it was worth it because we got gorgeous shots.
