Glamnuptials: We Are Family

May 29th, 2009 @ 11:49 am by Mrs. Flamingo

Once we made our grand entrance outside, and seeing all our guests enjoying themselves with a little cocktail and hors d’oeuvres, the stress finally disappeared… and we knew it was time to relax, enjoy, and savor every moment of our wedding reception.

When guests walked in, they looked for their names on our chandelier tree. I had written their names and the table numbers, but in case they weren’t certain, I made a seating chart filled with glam clear rhinestones.

Aligning everyone for the receiving line was funny… it seriously seemed to be the most complicated thing. Who goes where? Who’s next to whom? What order should everyone be placed in? I have to admit this isn’t something I paid much attention to, and in the end, it all worked out.

Once everyone was seated, we went outside to prepare ourselves. This time around it was to introduce the family and bridal party… the DJ hit the play button and my families were introduced to THE song of all family songs… “We are Family”. Basically, this songs says it all, and has been the default song to represent my family, so our wedding was no exception to the rule.

When it was time to introduce us, (the newlyweds) we used the oh-so-appropriate song “It had to be you” by Harry Connick Jr. from the movie When Harry Met Sally. Once we walked in, we seriously felt like stars with all the continuous camera flashes and everyone clapping away. “Make way for the bride and groom,” we heard at one point, and chairs were literally flying across the room to give us space to walk. LOL!

It was perfect, even when tripping over the chairs, because we were making our way to the dance floor for our first dance, something I’d been anticipating for as long as I could remember…

Up next: The first dance…

@Miss French Bulldog: Ah thanks!!! I loved my hair. I wish I was in the 40s where finger waves was the “Standard” hairdo, so I would have awesome hair, everyday :D

Beautiful photos! I love your seating chart… do you provide digital files for a bride to print herself?

Hi Mrs. Flamingo :) I’m about to get married in 29 days and I remember the first time I stumbled across this site and read as far back as I could go…I think for 4 hours straight and whenI came across your wedding pics, I was hit by the sheer elegance and the glamour of your wedding!

Your cake was such an inspiration for me that I planned my wedding around it and I hope you don’t mind but I gave my cake lady your cake pic to recreate it closely as possible.

I even found the exact cake topper after many months of searching and found the crystal danglies online.

I’m sorry I’m copying your cake but I honestly could not help myself and I hope you are ok with it.

I just want to let you know how much your wedding was an inspiration to me and how gorgeous everything looked!

Thank you Mrs. F! I noticed you are from MTL, I’m in Ottawa…yay Canadian brides!

Do you mind me asking if the chandelier pattern was airbrushed on? My cake lady made a stencil of it, I think, and will stencil it on…I’m not sure but I’m really nervous about how it’ll turn out! I’ll definitely post pics :)

Mrs. Flamingo, thanks for your quick response. I would love a beautiful seating chart as we’re not doing seating cards (is that what they are called?)

Love the seating chart! I’d be interested in a template, digital file, or a tutorial.

Aw, so fun! I should probably decide on whether to do the receiving line or not. I guess it helps with not being completely bombarded the whole night from guests who haven’t had a chance to speak to you yet?
