Today’s photo of the day was uploaded by PeachandPearl. Her Butter and Jadite inspiration board has me longing to attend a summer wedding! And are those Mrs. Avocado’s shoes I see in there?

If you’d like to share your inspiration boards, or want to get inspired by the beautiful boards already on display, check out the inspiration board section in the gallery!
I’ve been a little (very) hesitant to include actual red poppies in my bouquet, on the tables, etc. Why? Poppies are so fragile! I’ve been worrying they’ll fall apart. But just look at how adorable this french bride is with her red poppies!

It’s perfect French countryside! What a wonderful way to start your wedding day - picking wildflowers.

On our first trip to Macy’s to register, Mr Frenchie and I decided not to register for China, but to get a nice set of everyday plates. We didn’t want to not get things we really needed, like everyday plates and a vacuum, because our guests decided to get us china instead. We decided on a casual china line by Wedgwood called “Eternity”.

From the start we’ve known we wanted plain white plates. You know, something that will go with anything, no matter what the theme… because we’re always thinking, ‘would this work for entertaining?’
After talking to Mama Frenchie, she convinced us (and I’m glad she did) that we needed fancy china. Yes, we probably wont get the whole she-bang for our wedding, but this is something we can add on to over the years. So, back to Macy’s we went one afternoon, just to find a china pattern.

Yes, those are ZZ Top lyrics. Sorry.
This is the story of my sharp dressed man, starting with the suit.
I had dreams of Mr. Joey waiting for me at the altar in a snazzy grey suit. Lighter grey, not charcoal. Something like this, but without the shiny lapel.

So, I was at Michaels again last night. As always, I went with the intention of picking up just a couple of things and taking no more than 15 minutes. Needless to say, it never works out that way. There are just too many temptations!
Anyway, back to the reason for my post. After paying at the register (more than an hour after I got there), the cashier handed me the receipt and an orange flier. It’s a little piece of paper that can save you big bucks. You see, Michaels is having a Summer Madness Sale on May 25th from 9AM - 1PM, where you’ll save 20% off your entire purchase, including sale items!

Let’s put this next topic in the “I didn’t think I would really care about this for my wedding” category: calligraphy.
For the “streamlined, cut out everything not necessary” bride like me, I should be getting our computer printer ready for some lovely mailing labels. Yet there I was, about a month ago, looking and practically salivating over calligraphy options for invitations.
“Is calligraphy necessary? Heck no! Will your invites be welcomed by open arms by your guests? But of course!” This was my internal dialogue as I realized that I really wanted this item for our wedding, and I began the search for affordable calligraphy options.
I went to one of my new favorite sites, Etsy, and searched through pages and pages of lovely calligraphers. I knew that I wanted the look to not be too frilly and formal, since that would not fit our daytime, bright-colored, modern wedding. I wanted something that was maybe a bit more whimsical or contemporary than something with a ton of script-y flourishes (nothing wrong with that, by the way).

After taking our invites in and out of the envelopes a few times, I realized the purpose of a belly band - to keep everything together! Without a band to hold everything together, a few of the slips could go unnoticed in the envelopes. We headed to our “local” craft store (about an hour away) to check out the supplies available to create a belly band.
The vellum options didn’t wow us, and finding chocolate or the right kind of purple ribbon was proving difficult. We stumbled upon a few wraps of satin ivory ribbon near the checkout, which we quickly grabbed, and headed out of the store. I think Mr. D and I had both reached the limit where we’d like to stop thinking about the invitations, so we were happy to find a resolution and get out of there.
Thanks to Miss (soon to be Mrs!) Taffy’s and Mrs. Emerald’s bow tutorials, the D’orsays have a plan for the English invites. But, which orientation to choose?
Option A, Vertical Left Aligned:
Doesn’t everything seem wedding related when you are planning your own wedding? Well my own wedding planning is a thing of the past, but Weddingbee keeps my passion/obsession alive and well.
Heck, I watched the season finale of Lost, and got the most excited when I realized the location where they shot Sun and Jin’s wedding was our own Mrs. Sushi’s ceremony venue! Then I proceeded to make a comment to Mr. Lovebird about how Sun’s dress was gorgeous, especially the back… he was not amused.
But that’s not the only TV wedding to happen this year. There seemed to be plethora of weddings this season.

Things are getting crazy in the Taffy household. I have been hosting one Craft-O-Rama after another, and will try to bust out as many posts as I can these last few, um… days. Eek!
A while back, I posted about my flower indecision. I am happy to report that I have chosen white tulips for our centerpieces, Today’s tutorial is regarding the vases, which are wrapped in black ribbon.

My centerpiece mock up from March.

Like Miss Cheese (yet a lot less eloquently), I want to provide a good representation of what the final countdown feels like in the Peep household.
One word: Frazzled.

I guess I haven’t written very much about our ceremony or church. Don’t worry, I fully understand that the most important part of “the day” is what happens in the church! But because we’ve been planning for quite some time, a lot of the details for the ceremony just simply have not been decided on.
When we started looking to have our wedding in Oak Park and found our reception site, the 19th Century Club, we had no clue where the actual ceremony would take place. While there is space at the reception site should be choose to take advantage of it, we had definitely envisioned being married in a church. Mr. S and I don’t have a church that we regularly attend right now, and even if we did, it would be in Chicago and we’d really like to keep everything in Oak Park.
But don’t worry! Oak Park has a lot of churches… but when we started to narrow the search, only a handful of them were either Methodist (my denomination) or Lutheran (Mr. S’s). As we started contacting those, we encountered incredibly expensive ceremony fees (I had expected a church to be a few hundred dollars, not $1,000+!) as well as some uneasiness on the part of many churches about the fact that we weren’t members and most likely would not become members (as it doesn’t make sense for us to join a church so far from our home).
We had already booked our reception last May on faith that we’d find a church and get the date that we wanted.

I’ve been eyeing the J.Crew silk gala clutch since it came out, but I was too cheap to pay $88 for it, plus shipping. I’d been waiting and waiting for it to go on sale, and then a few weeks ago, it finally did. At $59.99, I still wasn’t convinced I wanted to spend that much. I’m cheap and I can make purses, even if I didn’t really want to make one. So I decided to take my chances and waited for it to come down in price even more. It didn’t. Instead, it SOLD OUT. And I was sad.

I realize it’s just a clutch, and is not by any means something that I need to have on my wedding day. But I liked it. A lot. There is no denying how well it matched my shoes!

Reader ali-o is selling a flower and feather fascinator. She had it custom made by Etsy seller modernromancepdx. The flower is made of silk and organza, and is a very light ivory color. There is an alligator clip on the back of the flower, and it measures 3″ across. It is brand new, and she is asking for $35 OBO.
