Look what the postman brought to my mailbox today!

My bachelorette party invite! I haven’t been involved with the planning and was delighted to see that it will be a 1950s-themed costume party.
I looove to dress up, so I am super excited. And even though I am up to my eyeballs in planning (two and a half weeks to go, ladies!), I am spending my time thinking about costume inspiration. ![]()

It started out completely unplanned. It involved cooking dinner in our new kitchen, one glass of wine, two handfuls of sage from our greenhouse, and Neil Young playing on the stereo. The song Harvest Moon came on and we started dancing a little, the harmonica sailing away in the background. We started thinking that this could be our first dance song. We both love it, the lyrics make me sigh, and it’s easy enough to sway around to for three-and-a-half minutes or so. And it’s the kind of song that makes me want to get lost in Mr. CB’s eyes forever.
After a couple more minutes of both of us crooning in the kitchen, I started wondering, ‘When is the full moon around our wedding date, anyway?’ I pulled out my CrackBerry and got to work. The first calendar pulled up a full black circle over our date with a full grey circle over a few other dates. “I think it’s the full moon,” I said, “Oh, no, wait. Maybe it’s no moon.”

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
There’s no doubt that our wedding is going to be a kid-friendly event. With eight little ones ranging from the ages of 3 to 10 in the wedding party, how can’t it be?
Mr Yorkie’s three nieces and my cousins’ combined three daughters and two sons will form the petite parade that will lead us down the aisle, setting a light-hearted and joyous tone for our beach-side ceremony.
In hopes of keeping these special little guests happy (and out of trouble) during the reception, I’ve been collecting ideas for fun activities to provide at their table. One of the things that I’m planning to do is to make custom coloring books out of digital photos of Mr Yorkie and me with our family and friends. I’m sure that the kids will get a kick out of seeing themselves in a coloring book. Heck, I’m excited about it, and I’m almost 31!

In my research, I came across the African libation ceremony, which honors ancestors. I love the idea of honoring the past, while looking forward to the future. Here is a brief description of the premise of the libation ceremony:
Many African-American couples incorporate a libation ceremony into their weddings as a way to honor their African ancestors. Holy water, or alcohol, is poured onto the ground in each of the cardinal directions as prayers are recited to the ancestral spirits, and names of those that have recently passed are called out. The libation ceremony can also be used as an opportunity to honor the elders in a family, asking them to pass on their wisdom and guidance.
I’ve shared in great length about my extensive dress search (it came in 4.5 parts!), the hunt for the perfect bridesmaid dresses and some ideas for our little flower girls. You’ve even taken a test to help us dress our guys. In honor of Mother’s Day, let’s move on and talk about the moms, shall we?
For both Latte moms, the dress choice was an easy one. They will both be wearing hanboks, which are traditional Korean dresses.

Besides the fact that they’re beautiful with bold colors and gorgeous fabrics, they also pay tribute to the heritage of both Latte families.
Reader futuremrscliff is selling a pair of Kate Spade shoes. They are style “Lover”, blue, size 6, and brand new in box. She’s asking for $200.

Once I figured out how to download a font, it came time for Mr. D and me to choose a font to address the invites with. Here are the fontalicious contenders; I made the last names the names of the fonts, in case you’re wondering which ones they are.
We could really use your help on this decision, but there are 2 key points to consider:
Essentially, will I be able to trace the font without developing the desire to strangle anything?
First up - Adine Kirnberg and English (please ignore the cursor by the zip code *doh!*):

I’ve been having cake nightmares lately. Not because I have any form of doubt surrounding Cathay from The Sugar Syndicate - she is superbly awesome and talented and will make us a fabulous cake! But I became worried that our beloved cake would be a little, well, short. I blame my panic on all of these wedding shows I watch were people have like 8 foot tall cakes. We, however, are having a reception for 120 people, and most definitely don’t need to have enough cake there to serve 500 people, hence us having ordered a 1 foot tall cake, instead.
I had been hesitant to contact Cathay because I knew that I couldn’t make any changes to the cake that would impact the price. We simply can’t justify it. But I continued to find myself worrying about the cake at odd times, so yesterday I finally emailed Cathay.
If you’ll remember, my cake inspiration had been this beautiful cake done by Cathay:

It was a big pain to change my last name, and it only took me three years to do it.
But it’s going to be a lot easier for the winners of this giveaway because MissNowMrs is giving away 5 name change packages to 5 lucky brides!
Here’s how the easy three step process works: 1) answer a couple of questions about yourself, 2) your answers are used to fill in the legal forms, 3) print out the completed forms along with instructions on how to file them.

Helloooooo lovahs! I know I’ve been gone for quite some time and I’m not going to give you any excuses. I mean, I have been really busy with work, and I have been helping a few friends with wedding projects, and I have been trying to figure out what to do with all of these unedited notsogreat wedding photos, but seriously, I won’t give you any excuses. I’m just sayin’.
In all honesty, the reason I haven’t posted about our wedding is because I wasn’t sure what to do with our photos.

Well, I have to say that I never thought when I headed into the pastry field that I would be posing for photo shoots, but these kind of unexpected surprises are what makes going out on my own totally worth it! I was a little hesitant at first to pose by myself. I thought the shoot was just for the desserts, but when Ryel, from Ryel J Photography, said she wanted to shoot some of just me I said okay, thinking it would only be head shots.
To my surprise I was posing and all…blush blush!
Once I relaxed a little and stopped thinking about how funny I probably looked, I had a great time and really loved how the photos turned out. Ryel is one talented lady and so much fun to work with. If you are getting married anytime soon I would definitely recommend contacting her! Well, enough talk…on to the pictures!
